Use a 9/16 wrench or socket to remove brass nuts
This whole experience is one big iron stove full of frustration. And I have to do this EVERY year?!?!?!??
Oh boy, I'm glad I didn't have to wrestle that out of there. Big job you were able to accomplish 👏
@@AlmostOffGridGrandma Haha, thank you very much. I'm sure dreading it for next season already.
Thank you for sharing this, we have one of these we got off of Craigslist and didn't know what the insides were dong wrong. This was very informative and well edited, cheers from NE TN!
@@marker113 I'm so glad to help!
Wow Shonna! Watching you do that, all I could think of is there’s no way in the world I could’ve done that without landing at the chiropractor immediately after! Good job! That was a TON of work. Yes, I don’t see any other way to clean it without taking that off each year. 😬 Well, thank you for the video and keeping us up-to-date on your house! 💕
Aww, KJ... You are one in a million ❤️ Thank you for always being here!
Thank you so much for posting this - we have a similar stove and I think our catalytic converter is all clogged. Our bottom piece of stove pipe is removable, so once I'm done sweeping, I take it off and vacuum all the creosote up through top of the stove. I didn't know what to do with that catalytic converter, now I do! Thanks again!
@@chadliddle982 i am so thankful this video helped SOMEBODY 😊
Hi Shonna, thats a job for definitely only once a year. I have a wood heater too but its set into an old open fireplace place. I dont have that combustion grate in mine as sometimes when its not burning birds fall down the chimney and I have to catch them to put them outside. You are a woman of many talents. I would love to send you an Aussie Christmas card but I couldnt find your email address to write you and get your address. It is definitely warming up here and looks like December will be very hot this year. Im pleased to hear your family (2 legs and 4) are all doing well, its always a treat when you upload a video
Thank you very much, Tanya ❤️ My email is nezumisoaps@gmail. com
If you do get around to mailing a Christmas card, I will absolutely reply with a letter as well!
first time ive seen a stove with one of those in them .but im old
@@lonewolf1401 It helps the wood burn slower and hotter somehow
Great Job getting that Catalytic Combuster out. I have an insert model 24-JC but everything looks Identical to your stove as it applies to the Catalytic combuster. May I ask what mPart number you ordered and where did you buy it?
@@JohnDarling-wb7go I purchased mine on Amazon. It is a 6x6x3 ceramic combustor. The brand is "Condar." I don't have a part number, though, and TH-cam doesn't allow us to share links in the comments. I just made sure it said it was for the Englander wood stove and was the right size. I removed the metal ring that came with it because it was too big for the collar. It seems to be working great. I get a nice slow burn once the stove reaches 300 degrees F.
@ Awesome I think I can figure it out from here. God bless you and your family
@@JohnDarling-wb7go Thank you my friend
I think the new piece might be the same size, just with the lining that came apart from the other one is intact on your new one. They seem to be a similar width difference to the extra piece, which looks like it was pulled off and placed inside the other piece instead of left on. I could be wrong, of course, but that's how it looked to me. Did you manage to remove the plant?
@@skerendreamera yes I got that plant out of there 🌱
Ms Homes, goodness goshers! That's quite an operation. You should get yourself a microwave and some heat pads instead...
(ho, ho!).
@@tropicalhouse8424 you are funny 😊
2:55 Oh, my! Was that asbestos?
@@lindnertim Hope not! Pretty sure it's just a bunch of ash, creosote, and rust.
What the heck was your under butler doing while you were busy with this?
@@Sp00kyBedHair my what?
@LittleIowaHomestead Your Butlers Assistant, the guy in charge of the scullery maid etc
@@Sp00kyBedHair lol, I am my own scullery maid and I have no butler
