  • Change is a coming on the main railways around Manila (Philippines).
    Modernisation and standardisation, two words that will be heard a lot over the next couple of years. Whether you are a fan or not, it has begun and it is what the Philippines needs.
    I was privileged to be asked to cover it photographically before it all commences. So this morning I spent a good amount of time going over the whole yard, the results being a multi-part special looking at the yard, loco depot, rollingstock shed and more.
    I hope you enjoy this look at one of my favourite places, one that has been a part of my life for 20 years, but one that will soon change forever.

      @@NeathSpadge Yes i see all this but when you just look at the mess, it needs new inforstructure a good clean up would do no harm and would give much needed jobs, I want them to be world class and it could be if money was spent I am British and married to a Filipeno and live here I want the best for the Philippine people they need better transport at a cheap price; I used to work myself for British Rail in the 1960s and that was better then what we have here and that was bad at the time

      @Yo Byotch yes. that be mostly correct. I believe any dual gauge tracking will be temporary.
      Can't see the need to go the extra expense of standard gauge, but that is what it shall be.

      @@georgeosborne6878 but this is what is happening with the massive north and south line rebuilding projects. That will be all brand new infrastructure, not second hand/old, and will create many, many jobs.
      I am not sure I am quite understanding.
      President Duterte has started a massive rail infrastructure development program there. There is literally Billions of Pesos to be spent on all this.

      @@NeathSpadgethe standard gauge plan for tutuban clark has been approved and budget has been adjusted for it. Looks like pnr will slowly switch to standard as it would be better since standard can handle more load, is safer, is future proof thinking and as the world standardize railway gauge so does the wheels, rail and parts. This way it would be cheaper in the long run to run standard since most narrow gauge railways will dissapear. I believe the old trains can be saved with retrofitting standard sized bogies into them. This way the extra rail to run dual gauge can now be removed for less maintenance cost.

    I wonder what will they do on those box cars. Jun magno said theyre looking into restoring freight services. I also wonder if the new Tutuban station will have a new yard and new platforms in the future when Manila-Clark railway will get extended to La Union and Tuguegarao.

    • @lawrencebautista1
      @lawrencebautista1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And current Tutuban yard no longer has ample space for the upcoming Indonesian trains.
