"The Lindbergh Kidnapping Case" (1976) - Anthony Hopkins as Bruno Hauptmann

- On March 1, 1932, the infant Charles Lindbergh, Jr., the son and namesake of the world-famous aviator Charles A. Lindbergh (Cliff De Young) is kidnapped from his New Jersey home. Speculation about who took him and why grips the entire nation. During the subsequent investigation, the child is found murdered, and a German carpenter named Bruno Richard Hauptmann (Sir Anthony Hopkins) emerges as the primary suspect. The media buzz surrounding the trial is enormous, and while the facts seem to be against Hauptmann, the wild theories nevertheless continue to proliferate.

Just about everything Anthony Hopkins was, or is, in is first class acting. Thank you for sharing this film.
I agree ☝️
Thank you for posting this. So sad about the loss of the little boy in such a tragic way.
Keep that to yourself n your not positive.
Especially heartbreaking for Mrs. Lindbergh after she discovered that her pathetic jerk as a husband killed their son for having a disability 😎
Anthony Hopkins recieved an Emmy Award for his performance in this film. Thanks for sharing. 💙
I don’t know why. He’s the same in every film he makes.
He plays this role very well, very
authentic!
And thank you for sharing that tidbit
I think he is an over rated actor in every thing he does.
@@Smartychase He received his second Emmy Award for his portrayal of Adolph Hitler in the CBS television movie The Bunker.
Thank you for sharing this. The case isn’t as cut and dried as the Staties would have us believe. What gets me is how the crime scene was trashed by the reporters and the Police as well.
I think the person kidnapping the baby could have dropped the baby coming down the ladder, and the child died from the result of the fall.
Even so, legally the miscreant was guilty as charged. But was the miscreant Bruno?
May I suggest 2013 Nova Lindberg kidnapping. 1 hour 29 minutes long TH-cam. The piece of lumber from the ladder was an exact match to a floor board from Hoffman attic.
So glad I came across this movie. Quality actors / performances & a great production. And look how young Anthony Hopkins is! Thanks for sharing! 😊
First five minutes in I was thinking how abysmal the acting is!
He was 38 when this was filmed in 1976.
👩💻Anthony Hopkins' first movie was "The Lion in Winter" 1968. He played Prince Richard, the son of King Henry II and Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, Peter O'Toole reprising his role of King Henry II and Katherine Hepburn, respectively. What a fantastic movie! Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton starred in "Becket" in 1964. O'Toole as King Henry II and Richard Burton as Becket another excellent film. 🙋♀️🇺🇲🇬🇧🇺🇦

His first American made for tv movie was QVII-1974.I was 18.I have followed his career ever since.
Referring to a baby as 'it" was not so unusual and not derogatory in that era.
I watched it on TV. Years later realized what a great cast.
Watching this movie has shocked me to consider it factual, the many traumas we all sustain, and yet survive through. Thank you for showing this movie, LionHeart Film Works, for it makes one think of the complexity in situations which in the end have achieved not a trusted-for-all resolution, but a further introduction to psychological chaos. Looking forward to more from you.
Lindbergh was a supporter of Hitler who wanted to bring Nazism to America.
His kid was taken by one of the German master race. How's that for an intersection of irony and karma?
Hauptmann was guilty. And Lindbergh was not a nice guy. Both can be true.
The quality of the titles collected here is outstanding. Real meat and potatoes for art film enthusiasts. Thank you for putting your channel together.
Great film. Lasted a long time. The Defence tried their very best. Hard to believe the film was made in the 70's.
Watched this many years ago will watch it again now thanks!
I've never understood mob mentality.
It doesn't seem to take much , to stir a crowd up into a frenzy of hate .
Good film . The Lindbergh character seemed quite emotionally detached . I don't know if that was how he was in real life ...❓🤔
People go mad in crowds and come to their senses one by one. This last three years has proved that, when we look back on this period in history humanity will be ashamed that we were so easily lead.

Who killed the baby, wasn't it the father 2:26:53
This is on my favorite list, so I can watch over, and over. I love all Anthony Hopkins movies. Thank You Sir Anthony.
I watched this movie and in high school in 1980, we civics classes. The Junior class mock trial was about this very case. Based on the modern standards of evidence during my high school times, we did not find enough evidence to convict Hauptmann. Each class had to have their own investigation, and then their own trial with jury. Teachers were interested as a social experiment to see how many times Hauptmann would be acquitted or found guilty.
It is interesting to note that during my high school years my speech squad team debated the validity of the death penalty also.
There were five mock trials held, and if memory serves, 2 classes, mine is included in that--voted for acquittal based on the evidence. One class refused to even bring charges--but was told they had to--ended in a hung jury. One trial ended with death penalty the remaining trial recommended life with hard labor--in case of innocence, or there were others responsible for the crime.
In retrospect, the summation by our teachers was that perhaps had there been more modern crime forensics, and zero racism and bias toward German immigrants that Mr. Hauptmann might have never even been a suspect and the source of the money would have been better tracked down. Also the realization that milled wood from the same tree can go to many different projects all over town. This evidence was pure coincidental. It should have not been included in the first place.
My question always was, how did this person bury a body without being seen? How could ONE person do it all? NOT possible. IT is too bad what happened to that baby. That poor child should not have died.
In the end, as an young adult I discovered that Lindbergh eventually moved to Germany and supported Adolf Hitler and the idea of pure Aryan race. He confided in Dr. Mengele that his first child was not Aryan, and he did not mourn the loss. From these historical records, have sprung the idea that perhaps Lindbergh himself--the great Hero engineered the Kidnapping as a way of disposing of his imperfect son--and to spare his wife. Who Knows the real truth, God, one day we who have chosen to believe in Christ Jesus will be in heaven when the books are opened, and will know what happened.
Out of curiosity, what proof do you have that Lindbergh ever met Josef Mengele?
Where can I find record of this conversation?
@@gotch09 I watched a documentary right here on TH-cam about Lindberrgh, and his family. It was about their lives AFTER they moved to Europe and what they they in Germany. There was actual taped footage of him meeting with Dr. Mengele and even Hitler. Seems Lingbergh was very racist and very much into genetics and the idea of a pure Aryan race. None of this ever came out in the USA. I was shocked to discover this myself. I also read it in a book, which I no longer have in my possession, the title escapes me, sorry.
@@maureenogorman8740 I actually watched a documentaly about Lindbergh and his family living in Europe and their activities, and see my comment below. But he did meet both Dr. Menegle and Adoph Hitler. He even gave money to their "Aryan research projects" to develope a perfect race. This is when he discused with Dr. Menegele the death of his son, whom he said off hand, was not genetically perfect, while his wife was still mourning the death, he was not. He did not want to try again, until he was sure they could have a pure child. It was tape shot in black and white, the record of the meeting, and spliced into a documentary about the Lindberghs, a different angle on their lives. Yes, I was shocked. It has been a while since I saw this documentary. I remember I saw it on TH-cam several years ago. I also read it in a book I had on The German Reich. I no longer have the book, sorry.
@@michellereed5638 ....Lindbergh said in the documentary you cite that he "didn't want to try again until he could be sure they'd have a pure child?" That's interesting considering the fact that at the time of the baby's kidnapping, Anne Morrow Lindbergh was already pregnant with their second child.
If that was the case that the baby was murdered a few meters away from the house the entire story must be wrong. It should be murder case not a kidnapping case.
I thought I heard that the kidnapper fell as he carried Charlie out of the window the ladder flipped and he landed on the child, accidentally killing him, but the ransom plan went ahead. In that account, the LE and others had suspicions that Charles himself committed the act!
@@kathrynbillinghurst188 i believe it was Charles .
One of the rungs of the ladder used in the kidnapping was broken. It’s possible, I suppose, that the kidnapper was on the ladder when it broke and dropped the baby. It’s been one of the theories. It’s still murder because it happened during the commission of a capital crime

to pull a sadistic practical joke on the women. Arriving home he
left his car 60 yards down the driveway, nailed together a crude

in his arms, planning to put him in his car; Then, when he wormen
were hysterical with fear and and grief, he intended to bring the
baby forth and he could laugh at how he had scared them.
The ladder broke and he fell on the baby, crushing and killing
him. When he realized he had killed his son, he drove him to s
ome woods two miles away. There he left the baby unburied.
He then went home and asked how the baby was. The nurse
went up and discovered the baby missing. Lindburgh then went
up, and asked them to leave him there while he collected him-
self. It was then that he wrote the ransom note, took it down-
stairs and said he has discovered it.
Several months later, a black man, a truckdriving deliver man,
stopped at the woods. He walked into them to relieve himself
and there he found the skeletal remains of the baby.
Lindbergh was known for his mean tricks. I have thus far only
seen a few minutes of the film so I don't know what it will portray.
One thing is sure, it did not take a long time after the baby's body
was discovered so close to home, before his wife, Anne

was her husband Charles who had killed the baby. She by then
certainly knew that her baby had not been kidnapped. Perhaps
she may have confronted him, but by then they both understood
that they could never reveal the truth.
Bruno Hauptmann was completely innocent. The Governor of

Hauptmann was innocent. By this time it was Lindbergh who
was in complete control of the investigation. Hauptmann was
convicted and sentenced to death. The Governor's political
advisors also knew the truth, but none of them could make the
knowledge public. The best the Governor could to was able to
do was to give Hauptmann a 30 day stay of execution. His

Anthony Hopkins is class personified in whatever role he is in...
The whole case seems quite fishy.
Bruno Hauptmann was the victim of a frame-up.
Hauptmann had the ransom money in his possession, initially lied about where he got it and then claimed it was given to him by a dead man. Does that sound believable to you?
@@andrewdavid5928 Hauptmann was entertaining friends when Isidore Fisch came to his apartment with the box of money. They testified to this at the trial, but weren't believed. It sounds believable to me because Hauptmann had business dealings with Fisch a few months after the kidnapping. Fisch was later discovered to be a con man and swindler. This information was suppressed by the prosecution.
@@Gwaithmir they were business partners so the box could have contained anything. When the police asked Hauptmann about the $20 gold certificate in his pocket when he was picked up he lied. Why would he do that if the money was honestly obtained?
@@andrewdavid5928 People were afraid of the police where he came from. He was probably also afraid, with good cause, that if the box contained hot money, the cops would take it away from him.

Interestingly Lindbergh told his wife to be careful with evidence and then the cops disregard that idea.
And that's because the "Planted evidence" he, Lindbergh, didn't want to be missed by the police!...
What about Mr Lindbergh NOT ripping that envelope open?
Lousy police work... movie 🎥 seriously lacks the fact that Lindbergh’s wife sat at the Defendant’s table alongside Hauptmann & his attorney... Also neglect Hauptmann’s testimony that he was holding a box 📦 for a friend full of gold certificates... Man went back to Germany and died, since the dad man owned him money, Hauptmann took the gold certificates as repayment. Only $14,000 in box. No fingerprints on letters or ladder.
Agatha Christie wrote “Murder on the Orient Express”, where Lindbergh baby kidnapper was on train 20 years later...
Same era, Sacco & Vanzetti were tried. One didn’t speak English, other guy spoke broken English. No translator provided. Both were executed. Amazingly, Sacco & Vanzetti were suppose to be guilty of shooting into the very crowd on stage that were protesting and making speeches at the Haymarket Riots. You think it would be hard because they were on stage with the speakers.
Good point. 1 of the worst handled police investigations ever. Bunch of new facts out now. I read Lindbergh himself basically told the police what to do. True or not? 1 book had Lindbergh killing that poor kid himself. It's is true a lot of your heroes you do not want to personally meet them. Case is Unsolved to this day I feel. But after kidnapping appears Charles & Anne went there separate ways only appear to stay married for the media only. Proven fact Charlie had kids in Germany too. Where else who knows?
I have never believed that Hauptmann was guilty. I think Lindbergh and the cops let him be hung out to dry!!!
Where is the evidence that "Lindbergh and the cops let Hauptmann be hung out to dry?"
Hauptmann had some of the ransom money at his home. He had Dr. Condon's phone number written on the wall of a closet in his home. He quit his job the SAME DAY that Lindbergh paid the ransom. The wood to make the ladder came from wood in his garage.
Hauptmann escaped from prison in Germany and fled to America, illegally. He robbed two women at gunpoint in Germany and broke into the mayor's house to rob him, using a ladder to enter via a second-story window. Sound familiar?
He made the ladder they used to kidnap the baby. He was guilty.

In regard to Hauptmann:
My maternal grandfather said he was guilty as sin.
My paternal grandfather said he was railroaded.
My Grampa’s were age mid 40’s at the time of the trial.
One of our family members was one of Hauptmann’s guards while he was in the Flemington jail. They played cards to pass the time.
The hotel did a renovation in about 1987(?) by the new owners. My husband had made a bunch of 16”x20”photographs of images pertinent to the “Trial Of The Century”. We were invited to the official opening. DH could not attend but I did. I was impressed how wonderful the main floor looked. I walked upstairs, to the top floor. Each floor had less updating. The top floor looked like it had not been updated since running water was installed in the hotel. Each room had a small sink, with 2 faucets(one for hot, one for cold). The furniture was definitely something that was used during the trial.
While he was in jail some of the ransome $$ turned up in Newark,NJ and a month later some in Berlin Germany. Evidence shows it was the guy renting his garage loft that did the crime.
@@looch1340 I think the damning evidence against Bruno was his possession of the money / gold certificates.
Bruno was also picked out by Lindburgh and Condon to be Cemetery John. For someone who claimed to be
innocent, he didn't go to the electric chair kicking and screaming. He was involved in this somehow. I'm not too
sure if he really killed the baby. Bruno may not have been that heartless. Someone else might have sent the
messages that had the two circles and square nail holes. If that were me, no way would I let myself be fried in the
chair. I would have gotten my defense attorney to help me get the firing squad.

Read Anthony Scaduto's book, "Scapegoat." which is an excellent exposé of the Lindbergh kidnapping case.
CAN YOU TYPE LOUDER, COULDN’T HEAR YOU THE FIRST TIME
You mean like Oswald?
@jodyfresnack4758 I THINK THAT THE LAW AND MOST OF THE PUBLIC WAS OUT FOR A SCAPEGOAT AND HE SERVED THAT PURPOSE PERFECTLY!!
No, he was clearly guilty along with others.
"The crime of murder is not always committed in the presence of a witness, ... and when not so committed, it has to be established by circumstantial evidence, or not at all." -- An American Judge who presided the Lindburg murder tial.
So, how did this fundatmentle lawful rule get lost on Amuerican jurors today?
Lindberg was also a Eugenecist and close friend of Hitler.
Lindbergh was a monster
@@invisibleray6987 lol That's precious deflecting.
To say he was close friends with Hitler would be incorrect but he did admire Hitler's success in turning around the completely depleted German economy. And he showed great admiration towards the luftwaffe. But it's also true that he spoke out against Nazi harsh laws especially towards Jews. It is rumored however that Hitler had planned on installing Lindbergh as a puppet president once he had taken over United States. But that was dream talk because Germany had never any chance of achieving that
Al Capone was in prison and said let me out and I'll get your baby, obviously they did but its an interesting fact relating to this case.
This was probably the Best DocuMovie on the Lindberg Baby Kidnapping, Arrest, Trial & Execution of Bruno Hauptman that I've ever seen! The players were all excellent & the details Factual! A very Good Movie, made when Movies were Well Done! Well worth the watch!
The script is so horrible It’s an insult to our intelligence that they think this is what we deserve. Gunsmoke had better acting and scripts once a week for many years. Casting is bad too. Overacted by cliche actors.
Factual? BS
Acting in this is about as subtle as one of the worst B movies I’ve ever seen.
Not factual at all - the innocent Bruno Hauptman was framed!!
Lindbergh and his wife had one expression between them. To watch that you would not believe she even cared that her son was kidnapped and possibly dead. And Cliff de Young, who can be good, was a blank cipher. There were a few good secondary performance, notably David Spielberg as the prosecutor. But the principals were dreadful. I loathe actresses who simper, and this one always did. Hopkins put in a nuanced, understated performance but it is hardly one of his best.
Sad movie!!
This shouting lawyer is not trying the case to find out who killed the baby. He is abusing the witness and should be hold for contempt !!!
If you read all the background on the movie it follows it very well
What I like most about all old movies, that their requirement was a clear language. Anyone knowing English language, could understand the actors talking. Not as it is today, with horrible pronunciations "as they are". Not talking about gender equality requiring every family on screen to have negro children or a gay among home stuff. With clear language goes down morality.
Great movie love it tx 4r uploading
This lawyer tricked the man to believe “signature” was in the letter to prove that the guy is a liar. This is cruel and disgusting!!! “Signature” was in fact in the letter. The guy was framed and killed for a crime he didn’t do. This is horrible !!!
That's just ridiculous & he sure didn't get over 14,000 gold dollars from the tooth fairy.
How did a hooligan lawyer win a case in front of these “well-educated” professors and “know it all” lawyers allow such cruelty ???? This is not right !!!
If you could reconstruct that sentence grammatically I might be able to decode what you are asking. Subject -- verb -- make sure adjectives and adverbs modify what they are supposed to.
@@VLind-uk6mb It's just a rhetorical question anyway. he's putting too much faith in hollywood, confusing a movie with reality.
While I appreciate the upload from this excellent channel, this really isn't that good a movie. It is worth watching still because of all the big-name actors in it, but even good actors can't always rise above their material.
Kidnapped was the first true crime book i ever read. I was out of books once and my parents had it as part of their old foggy collection.
Fantastically done
This is one of the main reasons why I am against the death penalty. There is always the chance (unless caught int he act) of error. Thou shalt not kill.
Actually, it really said, " Thou shalt not murder. "
yes and sinners are God's greatest witnesses. to take the potential for that away would not please God
It was open and shut that he did it. I believe that perhaps the baby died when Hauptmann accidently dropped him while going down the ladder.
@Dino please don't bother yourself
@Dino It wasn't just Biblical - it was Shakespearean English that at one time everyone spoke.
It is generally accepted now that Lindbergh killed his own baby.
Oh please!
Lol!! I’ve NEVER heard or read that before! 🙄
I kind of thought that to
No it isnt'
It's generally accepted that you are dumb.
Hauptman was very likely innocent, strange how they never tried to extradite Isidor Fisch, the one-time business partner, back to america, the more likely suspect. As Hauptman was German, at that particular time, prejudice would have prevailed. This film has no epilogue to explain that his wife fought to prove him innocent till the day she died age 82.
Didn't Fisch die before Hauptmann was arrested?
@@kenjohn487 You are correct. He died of tuberculosis.
Why do you say Hauptmann was "likely innocent"?
I wonder if Anne Lindbergh ever suspected her husband of planning the kidnapping
They didn't extradite because he was DEAD. He died from TB while he was in Germany.
THANK YOU!!!! GREAT MOVIE!!
I doubt the REAL truth will ever be known...
lol The circumstantial evidence was overwhelming. We know who did it.
Hopkins is the man at the graveguard. Recordnice his voice and eyes
In the story. But that depends upon the shaky identification of Dr. Conden.
I forgot about this movie. Saw it back in ‘76. Didn’t know as much as I know now. HBO did a good version Crime of the Century 1996 with Stephan Rea. Lindbergh’s estate is only 10 miles from me. Highfields
Too Much Media Propaganda in here. Hauptmann and probably another person were involved in the kidnapping. Avoid Looney Conspiracy Theories that never got solved on purpose - lucrative book/movie deals. This Film is EXCELLENT.
How did Hauptmann know which room was the babies. No one asked that question. It had to be an inside job.
If you were going to commit a crime like that, what would you do? Would you stake out the house for awhile?
Good movie. But we will never know the truth of who murdered that poor baby. Looked into this yesrs ago. IIRC Mrs. Lindbergh had some mental illness in her bloodline & i seem to recall the baby seemed "off" slightly. One of the rumors was that Charles had him murdered because he wasn't "ideal". He was an anti semite who didn't think Hitler was such a bad guy.
Saw photos of the ladder and it looked like a poorly made pos that no self respecting carpenter would make unless he DID & did it as a forensic counter measure. I think that was the reason for the disparaging remarks about it by Hauptman in court.
Check out Hopkins in The Worlds Fastest Indian. One of my favorite Hopkins movies. He was OUTSTANDING in Magic too!
thank you for posting this
Personally do some real research and follow the history of the father and it leads toward the bloodline where most are starting to understand more than most of us rather not .
Well explained . Once your eyes are open and you are awake .. everything makes sense but scary
The bloodline. LMAO.
I loved movie when I was19. I’ll enjoy more at 67. !! I love Sir Anthony Hopkins. All I can say thank god for forensic investigations. I can’t believe it took 92 years to get where we are today!!! I found myself yelling at the movie. Where are your gloves, don’t touch anything. All those reporters walking all over potential evidence. Them I realised I need to look at it from 1932. Not 2024 lol
See on You Tube...Charles Lindbergh-Did He Take His Son's Life?. Lindbergh was far from the man many thought he was.
We all know who Lindbergh was. He believed in eugenics, he was a nazi sympathizer, he liked to play cruel practical jokes and was basically not a nice guy. None of that means he kidnapped his own son. There has never been any evidence of it.
Thx. Even after the execution , Lindberg's wife asked him, "Will it really ever be over"? I think she knew the real guilty person.
Anthony Hopkins playing Tom Sizemore playing Bruno Hauptman
I gave a like before watching the movie, and I was not wrong at all!
Do you often judge something before you see it? Does that explain Trump? Something well wrong with American education there.
@@VLind-uk6mb I am not american. I'm argentine.
Lindberg killed the boy. He was disappointment child. Linberg was embarassed by him. 😥
There has never been a shred of evidence indicating Lindbergh's involvement in this. More than 90 years later, there still isn't. How do you know that Lindbergh was embarrassed by his son? How do you know he was disappointed in him? Where's the proof of that?
1:12:39 it so strange that a man of his statue would use " I says" form, instead of " I said".
It's an east coast colloquialism
@@aisle_of_view thank you. It's strange. 🙂
Interesting, I've never seen a young Anthony Hopkins before
You want to see him young with some great acting on his part watch the movie "magic" he is fantastic in that role.
@@janicereed9422 thank you, I'll check it out 😃
In my experience as lawyer, bruno’s lawyer should be more focus on isodore’s belonging and anything related with him to prove that bruno is innocent instead of hanging around with many new wifes.
I do not know about now, but prior to Covid, the “Trial Of The Century” was recreated in the original Flemington courthouse.
Being rich and famous they should have hired their own security guards!
Ive watched several documentaries regarding this case. There were multiple oddities. One was the inconsistencies of Lindberghs actions on the night in question. As average Americans we hailed him as a hero, but many, many people who knew him personally considered him an egotistical, narcissist. He would play practical jokes, sometimes cruel, that no one found funny. He even once pretended to kidnap little Charlie to get his wife and nanny in an uproar.
We have learned of his odd beliefs in the years after this crime. He ended up disgraced and a pariah for them.
We will never know, but at least the evidence that they gave at trial in this movie certainly was compelling as to Hauptmans guilt.
Poor Charlie and Ann Morrow Lindbergh.
Bruno was deported years earlier due home thefts in Germany. Snuck back in. I think he was guilty but had help from German community which was building and radicalizing. Stormin Norman's father was a leader of the investigation. Charles was an euginics fan ànd Hitler admirer along with H.Ford and founder of Planned Parenthood. Charles was embarrassed by the child and had hid the child a few times in closets to rehearse? He drove his wife to a miscarriage due to gas fumes in cross country flight. He had many superior Uber Arian German children. Charles was in charge of the investigation in reality. Boards and money in Bruno's house were direct links.
Charles had a cruel humor replacing drinking water with kerosene for his 'buddy".
You don’t know where you will be born and the life you will get. If people don’t have basic needs how will they get through in life??? This guy had a bad life and he did what he had to do to survive. He was a carpenter and wanted to be better to help himself. Oh God help us to be protected from doing bad things !!!
Decent people do not murder matter how dire their circumstance.
It’s not God’s job to protect from doing bad things on this earth. It’s called Free Will, dummy. God gave people the ability to act at one’s own discretion. YOU deal with the consequences.
Merci, Margaret, for one of the few sensible comments.
Say that prayer for Lindbergh's soul!
After 90 years, we've learned the truth about just how evil he really was. He was a Nazi. He believed in eugenics, but his son had developmental issues and could barely stand/walk at 20 months, which was quickly becoming noticeable to his adoring public. It was a bone condition similar to rickets. Lindbergh could not/would not accept the "blemish" of a less than perfect child on his name, his "heritage", his persona or his fame. MANY visitors to the home told of how Lindbergh was delightfully cruel to the child, often throwing objects across the room to strike him and knock him over and laughing maniacally at the child's tears, humiliation and pain.
What was once labeled a conspiracy theory has proven, after nearly a century, to more-than-likely be true... Lindbergh killed his own son, staged all the ransom stuff, had "evidence" planted and framed Bruno Hauptmann!! His extreme wealth, influence and popularity enabled him to get away with it. He paid off and bribed whomever he had to to make sure Bruno took the fall. If you do some sleuthing homework/research you'll find that almost everything pointing towards Bruno's guilt has been debunked, proven false or otherwise discredited over the years.
Lindbergh was NOT a good man. He was NOT a hero. Neither sweet baby Charlie nor the innocent Mr Hauptmann deserved all the evilness & cruelty that was inflicted on them by the white-supremacist, sociopathic, narcissistic "Mr Lindy". May their eternal souls be restful, happy and at peace in the afterlife - while Lindy justly burns in Hell.
@@margaretnorvell9555 No, but uber-wealthy and narcissistic Nazis who believe in eugenics sure do!
Especially those who are concerned that the whole world would soon discover that his own genes produced defective offspring. Hauptmann was framed. Lindbergh killed his own son and staged the rest! The TRUTH is finally coming out after nearly a century.
I think the person kidnapping the baby could have dropped the baby, and the child could have died as a result from the fall.
Having read about the ‘truth’ I’m being overly critical how inadequate some scenes come across. Sorry.
The movie was silly. It was a complete distortion of the evidence and of Bruno Richard Hauptman.
The baby was said to have an oversized head and protruding chest. And he couldn't stand on his own. What condition might that be called?
The baby could absolutely stand on his own. There are pictures and film footage of him standing. He had a moderate case of rickets, which was being treated appropriately.
Anthony is such a hit,top class, 1 A 👍👍👍 thanks for sharing this movie 🍿 🎥 🍺
Dean Jagger always sounded like he’s been drinking.
Anthony Hopkins wrote song played by Andre Reiu
One of Hopkins's first film roles and one of his best!
He played Richard the Lion-heart in the Lion in Winter. Circa 1967. Check out his previous roles.
Hopkins barely acted in the movie. This movie showed great actors b4 they were big time. Real low budget 70’s tv movie.
iI Hauptmann is Guilty,it would be IMPOSSIBLE for him to act alone.THIS is only a movie, there's MUCH more to the facts than you see here. Many people believe that Lindbergh was culpable in his own child's murder. He locked the kid in a closet for hours,he was ashamed of the way he walked, and many other FACTS. Hauptmann was Convicted on circumstantial evidence. He was covering for others.
Just because many people believe Lindbergh did this doesn't make it true. There has never been a shred of evidence indicating his involvement in this. More than 90 years later, there still isn't.
@@kimberlytyrcha5930There's ((((MORE)))) than a shred of evidence that Lindbergh MURDERED his son and experimented on the kids brain.get real friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was only 10 back in 1976 when I first saw this movie.
I didn't notice that the kidnapper gave them such precise navigational information where the baby would be found on a boat at sea.
Richard Haupman didn't have that level of SKILL to even fake those instructions. I myself don't have that skill and have a way better education than him.
Hmm, who do we think had that level of navigational skills back in 1932? 🤔
I wasn't one of those people who thinks Lindbergh was involved with his own son's death, but now I'm skeptical! There might be some truth to that! 😮
Was there any life insurance on the baby? If so, maybe the father did it to collect for his air travels.
Mr. Hauptmann decided to die instead of telling the thrut story. Was he protecting some peoples or his family ? No doubt.
