remember seeing you guys all over the Northeast, Billingham, Boro, Newcastle always thought you and Milennium just kind of missed out when lesser bands "made it" great memories thanks !
If Don Kirschner's Rock Concert, Midnight Special or the old ABC show "Fridays" had held out longer, I can definitely see the NWOBHM bands doing some guest spots. Black Rose and many of their NWOBHM peers would have been right up the alley of Fridays and similar late night variety shows, and I could see them doing this song live on one of those old shows. Now that would have been awesome!
Hi Kain, sorry for the late reply, I'm having problems with my youtube account but got it sorted...hopefully! Thanks for your comments about the band. Though held in esteem by some, the band is not one of the popular well remembered bands as when people list the stuff they liked, we very rarely get a mention. Not sure if it's the name or the material but we probably tried to move out of the NWOBHM era into a more melodic, commercial sound and this again probably didn't help our case. Being largely ignored by the likes of KERRANG!!! we relied heavily on guys like yourself to pave the way for us. Sadly, I don't think we scaled the heights we deserved (but I am biased!) and talk of our album being better than Heavy Petting and Grim Reaper never helped clear the path.. But it's nice to what if!listening to early stuff like Red Light Lady before thrash started, I can definitely hear some of the riffs and stuff on those early thrash bands. Where Diamond Head were lucky enough to get a mention, we weren't...you need luck in this business! Once again, thanks for the comments and stopping by. Black Rose ARE still together so look for them on Facebook. All the best Chris Watson
Hey, Thirty years since I last saw this, seems like yesterday! To the guy I talked about this to a year or two back, I eventually got back in touch with my brother last weekend and he said he did have this still on VHS. I am so glad you have posted it now. Keep on rockin peeps!
+Tony Coleby It is a great track! This song is a good part of the encapsulation of a musical era that influenced a LOT of bands in America, including one Metallica, whose first big international break came from NWOBHM legends Raven. The NWOBHM still sounds as good NOW as it did back then. I miss that time a LOT!
Hi Chris, Kain Nosgoth again. It seems my old replies to the video were cut off or incomplete for some reason, so I deleted them and began again. I hope this one gets thru and doesn't cut off or go incomplete. To re-acquaint you with my story, I first got introduced to Black Rose in America by a British schoolmate of mine when I was going to high school, when I was 17, sometime around late 1981 to early 1982 shortly before his passing. That's where I first heard "Sucker For Your Love" as well as "No Point Runnin'". I came across this video while searching for NWOBHM stuff and that's how I got to replying to it. I LOVE the NWOBHM and was among a handful of American kids listening to it before it was more widely known here, save for bands like AC\DC and Saxon who were somewhat known and established a slight above the others. Having just turned 50, the music is just as good to me now as it was and thanks fotr putting up this video. Great song and a real treasure from the day. As Raven said, "Rock Until You Drop"! Kain
Oh man, I just caught this post and I'm sad to hear this..she was very lovely and thanks to this video we can remember her as being forever young and beautiful. Rest in peace, Andrea, and may you be surrounded by Black Roses...
This was one of the best NWOBHM bands , I wore out the Nightmare album . Incredible vocals , as good as Joe Elliot , Big Byford , and Bruce Dickenson . Better than Joe Elliot was up until High and Dry
Great tune & nice lads. i played on a compilation album which had this song on.
1982 in every single note.
This is a really good song N.W.O.H.M rock is really good thank you for sharing one of your performances! Greetings from USA 🇺🇸
Classic NWOBHM! The best part of the whole rock music history❤ 80s forever!
This version is SO much better than the 7 inch single. This is so, so good. Great to see and hear such vintage treasure, thanks for uploading.
I like the Roxcalibur compilation version best.
