3:40 Actually, the rear end of this platform is a MacPherson strut, not a true five-link multilink. It has two lower cross members and one lower front arm, but the strut is substituting the usual upper arms of a multilink. The same system can be seen in the rear suspension of the Alfa Romeo 147/156/GT. Great video as always :D
Thankfully, the new engine and transmission was standard in 2023 model year. I traded in my GTI for a 2023 Jeep Compass Limited. Heated seats, steering wheel, nice infotainment with the large screen, leather all around. It is quiet, wicked comfortable seats, power driver, good cargo space for me, I didn't want a giant SUV. Gas mileage pretty good. As a Toyota loyalist, I couldn't bring myself to get the Rav4 (horrible seats), and yes, for I received a 15% discount bringing the Compass down to under $32k. Cons. Hate the on/off feature. While the GTI was seamless, this one is impossible to move without a little surge. I turn it off, a lot. There is a drone between 35 and 50, it varies. Not sure I want to know why. For what it is, I like it. I do miss the super fast steering of the GTI, which made corners a 3 inch turn. I have a new set of Blizzaks on for the snow, and looking forward to our snow, already falling. Best part, my old bones appreciate the much easier driver access, I no longer get beached at because of my Horrible, noisy GTI, and I love the granite color. The Corolla Cross didn't do it for me, neither the engine nor the cheaper interior. Right before this, I returned my CX-50 tester and was glad to be out of it. Between the extra 9 grand (comparably equipped), and the punishing ride, I just left the Mazda dealer in tears. Apparently he read the C&D review and thought the Mazda was super perfect. I really wanted the Rav4 to be the one, but their option list gets pricey, and my woman could not stand the NON POWER passenger seat. Truth is, neither could I.

SavageGeese videos are a true marvel of cinematic chaos! Dr. Goose is a maestro, orchestrating a symphony of automotive absurdity, where the laws of logic are mere suggestions, and coherence is an alien concept. The seamless blend of erratic camera angles, a kaleidoscope of jarring jump cuts, and a soundtrack that can only be described as avant-garde noise pollution - it's pure genius, or maybe a hallucinogenic experience disguised as automotive commentary. Forget about coherent narratives or structured critiques; SavageGeese has transcended the mundane expectations of logical discourse. These videos are a fantastical journey into the realm of automotive psychedelia, where cars aren't just machines but gateways to alternate dimensions of confusion. Who needs clarity when you can have a fantasmagoria of sight and sound that leaves you questioning not just the cars, but the very fabric of reality? So, thank you SavageGeese for creating a masterpiece that defies reason, a chaotic ballet of automotive bewilderment that challenges the very essence of what we thought automotive video reviews should be. Bravo! BTW, Good Luck, Carissa, with the Ultima.
I am an owner of a 2018 Compass, I am offended by everything you said about my car! 25k mile on it currently, had 2 batteries, both died last winter, Radio for screen peeling, Sway Bar links broke, and replaced my Radiator recently due to leak! Other than that, it has been great!😭😭😭😭😭😭 I do NOT regret buying this Compass in 2018, I paid $22.5k+ tax with 1.7% financing for a Latitude Model with heated leather seat, remote start, and AWD due to heavy discount from FCA.
We use the same stainless steel on modern space craft. The girders are also bullet proof as long as low velocity ammunition is used. And the pulley bearings are aero dynamically shaped to reduce any binding from cross winds to make sure there is minimal interruption to urine flow.

I own a Cherokee and this is a very accurate review, I got it loaded for 25k almost brand new and at that price I like it. I bought it back when I needed a car and you could not get one.
Fun fact, Jeep achieved the low price of this vehicle by constructing the suspension out of shower curtain rods and Ikea wall shelf mounting brackets. The drive shaft is actually made of PVC pipe, a first in the industry. Now that’s innovation!
I just love how you combine very serious information with joking. I have been following you for years and it seems you are trying to do the best you can with all these "near-identical" modern vehicles. Everytime a new platform is launched I myself start yawning these days. And it seems like you are too. Keep up the good work! And keep bringing the actually interesting engineering parts of your videos, it's what makes you stand out to the rest.
I had a previous gen Compass as a rental when my 9th gen Si got totalled, what an absolute pile of crap, I pulled out of the rental lot and legitimately involuntarily screamed "OH MY GOD NOOO ITS A CVT!". I had it for like 3 weeks and at one point decided to do a timed 0-60 run with three friends in the car, despite being in sport mode and revving it as hard as it could go against the brakes to launch it I clocked 0-60 in 18.7 seconds. That said it did hold up to me doing an all four wheels off the ground jump, so I guess it could be worse.
What did i just watch? 😂 just like the Matrix and its green filter trilogy (and Mark's 1 on 1 with the camera at the end there) , its dripped in good ol' midwestern sarcasm and passive-aggressive humor. 😂 love it. Makes me remember i used to go out in bars .
Thank you for the underbody shots. We can clearly see that his product has no rust protection where rear suspension arm plates are bolted to. Or anywhere where the car will actually rust. Behind those plates - prime rust spot, no protection. These will be driven especially in locations with with snow, and therefore salt. Since the underbody is so bare, it should not take much to add some proper undercoat, but then again the people who buy this are not aware of such concepts as rust protection, longevity and a decently made vehicle, therefore the manufacturer has no incentive to add the undercoating. Lease it, dump it. But it is not just protection, the noise is also lowered with it, which is mostly the reason a manufacturer nowadays applies the gunk to the underbody. It will also improve the reselling quality in the long term when people start learning that the car will last and you will get more of your money back when it is time to sell. But for people who pay attention to rust protection in a used car, those will likely be not looking for a Jeep product. At least not a compass.
My lower control arm went after 7 months and cause catastrophic failure to my drive shaft and Transmission at 40 000 km ...its currently at the Dealership for repair
Owned a 2007 Jeep Compass. Worst vehicle ever. The CVT overheated on highway and vehicle came to a near stop while merging on US 23 near Ann Arbor. My wife cried. It also suffered from a rotted subframe. Before CVT blew the vehicle was violently shaky and required thousands in suspension upgrades. There was not a full recall for the crossmember, but rather there was an extended warranty. I was outside of the extended warranty period and had to buy the overpriced part from a dealer. Never would I consider a Jeep product again.
I remember my dad got one of these as a loaner when his car was getting worked on. It had a bigger engine then my car but it felt completely sluggish.😊
Fun Fact: It is also manufactured in India and exported from here. Here, it's priced above what it should have been and there's bigger and (maybe) better options available at that price point and again, you get most of this car for like 40% less price of it (if you let go of the four-wheel drive system) then you aren't losing much at all. It is a slow seller here.
I was stuck with one I rented for a day during a fly fishing/camping trip when my 2005 Ford Explorer blew a brake line on my way to Walmart. Can you say POS? I know you can. At least it only takes a screwdriver and switching a fuse one position to make the 12 volt outlets stay live with the key off so that my portable refrigerator could stay powered up overnight. I was wondering what the motor noise was cursing through the campground at 5 MPH. Stellantis is proud of the reviews from both people who like this so called Jeep.
Have they fixed the brakes? The last ones made me sick in the parking lot. They were so over boosted at low speed and underpowered at speed. It was weird
This was entertaining to warch. There must be something wrong with me. Im middle-aged and live in a rural area and I love my compass latitude! Its drives and handles well and its very comfortable on ling trips, the backseat area is roomy enough for friends and cargo is decent. I use it to commute to work and for leisure. Its fast enough for my needs and I have a fairly heavy foot. The AWD is great the 4WD is a bonus. I agree the new price tag with options is ridiculous but I purchased mine used with low miles. I cant complain.
I think there not bad. My mom had to get a new car and she got a compass sport 2024 brand new for 22k even. And i dod drive it one time to check it out. And it drove great. I think for 22k its a great car
That powertrain engineers didn't feel compelled to tune-out throttle jerkiness tells me all I need to know, regardless of how much nicer the interior has become. Well, that, and the fact that Mark inserted a somewhat-lengthy attempt at comedy in an already-short video.

OMG - Mark is the best! Loved the whole "19-year-old girlfriend" bit. Keep it up player! You make TH-cam worth watching...
Finally….throwing Jack under the bus was long overdue! 😂 This needs to be nominated for “Car Video of the Year”! Hilariously entertaining! 👍
Jack makes a video about Ferrari or Porsche, this is below his level.
Multilnk strut, just sends it to another level. Tks.
I bought a 2015 jeep compass new and I still have it I have 102 thousand miles on it and it’s a good car I haven’t had any huge problems with I have taken great care of it
My Jeep compass going strong since 2014 lol
This is art
First savage geese video I’ve ever watched was the PT Cruiser review. Feels like we’ve come the full circle.
Glad to see you still cater to the same viewer platform!
How is this priced at same level as Rav4 while being much smaller blows my mind..
Sellantis is doing some silly shit with their massive price increases
id bet they sell it for "30% off" regularly, and take way lower credit scores than toyota accepts
Stellantis only rides on Jeep and Ram sales. Once they’re gone, Stellantis is gone. Stellantis in the US is smaller than it really is.
I live 1 mile away from the plant that makes this, and the freaking "Young Men, Women and Children" Joke made me laugh hard.
Its the primordial guttural sounds that sets this review apart from others…. this is next level auto journalism and feedback….
We need a long version of this
I am an owner of a 2018 Compass, I am offended by everything you said about my car!
25k mile on it currently, had 2 batteries, both died last winter, Radio for screen peeling, Sway Bar links broke, and replaced my Radiator recently due to leak!
Other than that, it has been great!😭😭😭😭😭😭
I do NOT regret buying this Compass in 2018, I paid $22.5k+ tax with 1.7% financing for a Latitude Model with heated leather seat, remote start, and AWD due to heavy discount from FCA.
Are the scaffolding and pulleys a custom job or do you have a trusted vendor?
We use the same stainless steel on modern space craft. The girders are also bullet proof as long as low velocity ammunition is used. And the pulley bearings are aero dynamically shaped to reduce any binding from cross winds to make sure there is minimal interruption to urine flow.
Jeep = Full Pass.
I really hope Jeep goes out of business, it’s such a joke of a company.
Stellantis is declining bad too. 180+ days of inventory at dealerships. They run only on Jeep and Ram sales. Once they’re gone, Stellantis is gone. Stellantis in the US is smaller than they really are.
Man... I was drinking my T-REX energy drink when you were telling us about the maluma concert , now my whole desk and monitor are sticky with sugar, thanks Mr. Goose, you finally got my Christmas spirit going.
The comic turn was perfection. Unfortunate for Jeep that this critically important and elegant review dropped with Camissa's review of the CyberTruck, this things only real competition.
I own a Cherokee and this is a very accurate review, I got it loaded for 25k almost brand new and at that price I like it. I bought it back when I needed a car and you could not get one.
masterpiece
Fun fact, Jeep achieved the low price of this vehicle by constructing the suspension out of shower curtain rods and Ikea wall shelf mounting brackets. The drive shaft is actually made of PVC pipe, a first in the industry. Now that’s innovation!
JEEP Just Empty Every Pocket.
Right on man! This is the content I miss! You somehow managed to make a review of the Compass highly entertaining.
Finally, a real car on this channel.
That was epic. Love the out of focus footage and the end; World class videos indeed 😀
Finally, the review I’ve been waiting all year for
I had a previous gen Compass as a rental when my 9th gen Si got totalled, what an absolute pile of crap, I pulled out of the rental lot and legitimately involuntarily screamed "OH MY GOD NOOO ITS A CVT!".
They literally all sound the same. Absolutely identical.
At least not a compass.
excellent post!
I bet this vehicle will be a popular target for catalytic converter thefts, since it isn't covered by any sound deadening panels.
8:44 World-beating white balance and focus accuracy
Mark looking all gangsta in this one
Bold. A triumph.
You guys make even boring $hit fun! I really couldn’t watch another SUV/crossover/shitboxthingy video. Well done guys
How does a boring sedan stand out at all compared to a boring crossover?
In 2007, everyone knew it was junk...yet you bought it anyway. Why?
Yeah, I really hope Jeep goes out of business…
@@bigmacdaddy1234 My Taurus head gasket blew. It was an interim vehicle to get me to work. Prefer Japanese brands. :)
Did your wite leave you?
That experience sounds horrible...
Love the EPS simulation sound effect. I could swear I was listening to Beldar Conehead. You nailed it!
Beautiful documentary 🥹
I remember my dad got one of these as a loaner when his car was getting worked on. It had a bigger engine then my car but it felt completely sluggish.😊
My dream car.
Oh another high quality jeep product.
Been waiting forever for this review 😮💨
A new Savagegeese video, the perfect start to the day!!
Mark seemed extremely disinterested in doing this video 😂
He seemed very interested in the video, just not the car
He was probably happy cause he wouldn't have to really try as hard on editing since it was a POS anyway 😂
I got Covid in the middle of making this. So it was like showing up to work sick.
@@savagegeese Sorry to hear that. I hope you got your eight vaccine shots like all the smart people.....
@@dougrobinson8602 I drank Lysol, was fine after.
More relevant than Cybertruck for people who arent subscribed.
There's nothing I enjoy more than taking a shit while simultaneously watching a Savagegeese review of a car I don't give a shit about.
Only Savagegeese could make a rental car/23% interest car video entertaining. Best in class indeed.
Have they fixed the brakes? The last ones made me sick in the parking lot. They were so over boosted at low speed and underpowered at speed. It was weird
This is a man that loves his work
This was entertaining to warch.
I want a small SUV and my budget is $45k. Loaded Jeep Compass or Lexus NX 350? Difficult decision.
LEXUS LEXUS LEXUS
I saw Elon shooting an AR at the Cyber Truck and I clicked this video about a Jeep Compass instead.
I own this vehicle and its going great. Lets see how it performs in long run.
Everything about this video is gold
I think there not bad. My mom had to get a new car and she got a compass sport 2024 brand new for 22k even. And i dod drive it one time to check it out. And it drove great. I think for 22k its a great car
"It's about a 2 hour job". love this channel
Honda CRV comes with a lot of those options as standard. Only difference is if you are going rock crawling, get the trailhawk elite.
That powertrain engineers didn't feel compelled to tune-out throttle jerkiness tells me all I need to know, regardless of how much nicer the interior has become. Well, that, and the fact that Mark inserted a somewhat-lengthy attempt at comedy in an already-short video.
The sorts of people who drive these things aren't going to drive anything else and are coming out of 20 year old Dodge Neons and Chevy Cobalts. Driving dynamics are not even a factor.
does the sport which is the base the model already has sunroof?
Probably the funniest of all SG content. EVER.
There are some folks that can only afford this vehicle, so one has to respect that. I just wish the vehicle was built in the States.
I work for a rental company and we get these a lot. My coworker owns one. It's the definition of average except for the brakes which are terrible and send the steering wheel into your mouth when you sneeze on them
So you're telling me it has super touchy brakes ? I'm ok with too much brakes on any vehicle.
@@GIGABACHI yes but so touchy it's scary.
Great review whatever, the real question is did you do any jeep waves?
I wave at myself to make the drive more inclusive.
I can’t believe you still get press cars
Well that was definitely one if the car reviews of all time
Jeeps new corporate motto. “ Jeep- We do wrong Right”!!!
Thanks. I'll check it out and buy one !
This car got my compass point straight to the North! Canceling my Cybertruck order!
That's actually not a multilink rear suspension, it's mcpherson strut of the same style as the legendary 1993-2007 Subaru Impreza
Watching this dude come unhinged over a Jeep is something I didn’t know I needed.
I had a choice between a newer Jeep Compass and my grandma's 1988 Buick Century.
I took the Century.
Good choice. 👍The Century is better anyways.
Jack, we miss you!
