When working for a veter wholesale company in '87,a local vet drove his VL Group A Brock into the warehouse. A beautiful vehicle.
Not long after and whilst driving to Canberra one day, I saw a Walkingshaw VL approaching at a rapid pace in my rear view mirrors.
    Those were the days...!
    Thanks for the upload 😁👍

I had a VL Group A Plus Pack No 408. Sold it 6 months before Peter Brock died.

Same, though not the plus Pack.

I spent some time with Peter talking cars and his favourite was the VL Group A SS. It's mine too and I got to drive one that belongs to a friend :)

That’s my old car! Struggled to get 30K for it ten years ago, if you think it hasn’t been restored your dreaming! It didn’t look like that when I sold it. All the plastics were replaced by me, it’s had interior work done, etc. etc. and it is missing the polariser that was fitted by HDT after delivery. Shouldn’t have sold it.

You're right. You shouldn't have sold it back then, as it just recently sold at Grays auction for $113,600!

I sold the VK version brand new bank in the day and never new they came in red and nobody ever asked for them in red. I also have an original HDT/Broke order pad from back then.

I remember checking one out in 1992 at a regional NSW Holden dealer. Immaculate, 45000kms, $27990, just a few grand more than a new VP. Didn't buy it, too dear to insure, huge theft risk.

It would have been a great investment as this car shown on this video with 152,000 kilometres just recently sold at Grays auction for $113,600!

@@itsJulianLam Yeah, nah. $30000 in an Index Fund, add $2K per year...you got over $600K in 30 years.

Similar regrets could have got an VK Brock Calais Director around 17K in the early 90s!!

The paint peeling away from the rear window is a worry, had some sort of paint job.

VK had to homologate the cam.
    VL didnt have to.
Even though in racing the VK they changed the cam anyway 😏
Main difference with the 2 engines, was the cam and ULP.

That’s the one that BROCK used 12” tyres when all the other Holdens used 11” because they couldn’t legally fit 12” tyres on it . After Bathurst 87 , the shell of car 10 was freighted to Win Percy’s farm in England. I’ve spoken to all the people involved including team manager Alan Gow , head mechanic Who does want to be named and Win Percy…. All confirmed.
Also Bathurst 87 yearbook 1st Edition was a chapter on how the cheating was done and how upset Perkins and Grice were . All the other Holden drivers too , but they could not protest in fear of losing the support they were getting. Ford had a policy with BMW Germany not to protest.
