    The M72 Light Anti-Armor Weapon aka LAW has a backblast deemed dangerous 44 yards behind the shooter when used in an open place. So yeah, everyone in Rambo's helicopter died.

    • @RedEyeReviews

      Lol I KNEW it! That thing looked way too dangerous

      Yep, fired a few in the Marines. That would breach the fuel lines, tank and go kaboom. At a minimum, the people behind him are dead. I laughed out loud when I saw this movie. Also, LAWs don't go, " whooosh", but go "BOOM!!!!!" when fired.

    • @winns35
      @winns35 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's why you yell back blast area clear before firing and get confirmation that it is in fact clear. That absolutely was not clear haha.

    Never has a Franchise changed what it was fundamentally about more than how they changed John Rambo as a character between First Blood and This.
    He doesn’t even feel like the same guy honestly.

    • @wimvanderstraeten6521
      @wimvanderstraeten6521 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the David Morrell novel on which the first movie is based Rambo is actually killed at the end. He's much more violent in the novel than in the first movie, so I guess you could say the Rambo of the second movie is closer to the character created by Morrell. Morrell also wrote a novelization of the sequel.

    • @michaelsinger4638
      @michaelsinger4638 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sort of. Book Rambo is sequels Rambo in terms of violence. But he’s First Blood Rambo in terms of being psychologically broken and traumatized (even more so actually).

    I think that most Men have not understood the beauty of Rambo 2.
    It is all about Rage, it is about the moment where you awake from the lies the people, the Government and friends are leaving you alone in the shit. It is about the deep pain, which you feel, when you recognize that the only person you can really rely in this world is YOU.
    You have to go through the Rage and the Pain. You have to destroy all the demons inside you. On a metaphorical level, this is exactly what Rambo is doing. After destroying everything the walls alone his way. This is exactly the process of an awaken person.

    I was in sixth grade when I went to see this with a mate. When we lined up for a ticket the seller expected we were going to a kids movie. When we said "Rambo" he looked to see if we had parents there with us, tilted his head, thought for a second and handed us the tickets. I was pumped! Loved every second of this movie.

  • @37Kilo2

    @14:42, you are correct. The back blast from that LAW anti-tank rocket has a 30 degree cone of danger, going back 15 meters (another 25m caution zone); Anyone caught in that area could be killed (especially in confined areas) or more likely, severely injured.

    Uncommon Valor (1983) is a really good movie in the "veterans going back to rescue Vietnam P.O.W.'s" subgenre. That movie has a great cast with actors like Gene Hackman, Patrick Swayze and Reb Brown. Highly recommended if you haven't seen it yet.

      @@RedEyeReviews It's a much-better movie than "First Blood Part II." "Uncommon Valor" is based on real-life attempts by Bo Gritz's expeditions into Vietnam (funded by Ross Perot) to get proof of Americans in Vietnam. I would definitely recommend it before those other two movies.

    I grew up with this movie. It was well accepted as eighties kid knowledge that Rambo was too good. He was down on the cool scale, but still he was godlike anyway. Every scene could be recreated from memory when playing war if needed.

    Big ups to the patrons, they’re on fire with the movies they’re voting for. Branching out into Stallone movies is a smart choice. Even though he’s actually a smarter guy than people often give him credit for and he’s an accomplished film maker in his own right his movies have a ton of comedy gold to be dug up in reviews. Also that Asian lady/love interest in this movie is freakin hot. Shame she had to die and become fuel for the protagonists anger. I would have liked to see her hang around a little bit longer. Ah but the movie wouldn’t be the same if it ends with him walking off into the sunset with some hottie, he’d be stepping on Commando’s turf if he did that.

    Rambo- First Blood= great psychological/character drama that masks itself as an actionthriller and also manages to get across some social commentary on how the US treated the Vietnam Vets.
    Rambo II = unapologetic 80's action-cheese fest, with some amazing set pieces, that spawned a gazillion of imitations.
    Rambo III = same as Part Deux, but now with even bigger set pieces, moar explosions, moar *DAKKA* and bare-chested Stallone.
    John Rambo (Rambo IV) = tries to be more of a serious and super grimdark war movie. Doesn't succeed 100% but is pretty good overall. Also .cal 50 Browning goes *DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA* ,this scene alone is worth the price of omission.
    Rambo- Last Blood= Wants to be a serious cartel thriller/drama ala ''Sicario'' but fails completely. It's mostly boring af and only the final showdown is worth watching.
    To sum up: watch the first, if you want a really good movie, Part IV is also pretty decent.
    Watch Parts II & III if you want some great 80's action movie cheese.
    Avoid Part V, because it's mostly boring.

    It's my understanding that getting a purple heart is based on medic logs. Everytime a medic treats someone for anything in the field, they have to fill out a form on it. Then these forms are submitted to someone who reviews them. And, during combat operations, pretty much rubber stamps a purple heart commendation on them. So, in theory, a guy can get a purple heart for a cut on his finger.

    Cool channel, I'm enjoying it a lot, although I think you're picking nits in places :) The reason Rambo is able to find his destination even though he's 20 miles away is because he has a compass in the hilt of his knife. You know, little gadget that tells you which direction to go ? It's what we boomers had to use in the 80s before iPhones were invented. You can even seen him taking a look at it @5:32. PS - anyone else know why, when I maximize the video while RedEye is playing, it tells me to "press ECSC to exit full screen" ? Weird, must be a software glitch ;)

    The '80s action movie most '80s action movies aspired to be.
    James Cameron is credited as one of this movie's writers, but I wonder how much of his script ended up being used?
    One thing: Rambo didn't kill anyone (intentionally, at least) in First Blood. Only one cop died, after he fell out of a helicopter Rambo threw a rock at.
