I remember Stallone got seriously jacked up for this movie, more than any other film in this franchise. Unfortunately Rambo 3 became immediately dated upon its release as the Cold War was winding down. Stallone’s rival Schwarzenegger ended up having much better success as ameniable Russian in Red Heat also by the same studio Carolco. The film briefly held the most expensive film made until T2 3 years later and for a long period was the most violent film until 2008 Rambo (which I always felt was a good ending for Rambo). It has been hugely parodied despite the fact it wasn’t as successful as the previous entries and no Crocodile Dundee 2 was not directed by Paul Verhoeven but John Cornell Hogan’s mate from his days on the Paul Hogan show.
The, Living Daylights, also, just barely avoided being, dated-upon-release, it truly didn't help, that the film, was, already, terrible, it's the worst Rambo film, (yes, worse, than, Rambo: Last Blood).
3rd film was best for me because it was 1st one I saw in series and he used a glow stick on arrow lol thank you orion pictures never be a one like you again
I remember the merchandise more than the movie, since us kids were blessed with Rambo 3 y fronts and bed vests, as well as cool plastic cups and lunch boxes, I vaguely remember the cartoon series too.
Love the rambo movies! As a movie guy i would say the first is the best but man, the second movie is very close and a solid classic action movie. What a action scenes! Rambo 3 is the same vibe, but i liked the vietnam setting more
Each action movie tried to one up the previous one. More guns, more explosions, more kills. The 80s and early 90s action films were truly a crazy time - in a good way.
What saves part 3 are the action sequences which are well done. If you are gonna do a Rambo film, go bonkers with the action scenes, have him fight half the country. The highlight of the Rambo films are the over-the-top blow them all the way action stuff. Commando was silly as hell but that's why we like it and that's why I liked Rambo 3.
I actually prefer this one over the first sequel, largely on account of how well its shot and edited and of (in my opinion) better Action Scenes. That Crenna gets a hugely expanded role doesn't hurt either.
I remember watching this movie as a kid in the late 80’s. I thought the depiction of the Afghan people was fantastic even then. I think too often people assume all Afghans are evil or ISIS or whatever and while I’m not Afghani or even Muslim, I can see how ridiculous that is. In true American fashion, we involved ourselves in foreign affairs and when things got complicated, we dropped our “friends” on their faces and ran away. The other thing I find interesting is how little most “regular” people actually know about history. There are certainly countries around the globe that have good reason to be wary of American imperialism and if more people realized that, maybe we could amend our policies and attitudes to start mending fences with our neighbors.
This film changed my life! Got me to join the Army Hooray, I won many medal's, 6 Purple Hearts, Silver Crosses, Medal of Honor. I began drinking and smoking, I cheated on my wife and watched cable tv, the Army saved me from all ion these and game me a reason to live. Get Stuckmanized....
Liked this more than most, in that I thought it showed the relationship/respect between Rambo and Trautman; Rambo has no intention of getting involved, until he learns Trautman is captured. He HAS to rescue his mentor and his friend. One of my favorite quotes from any of the movies in the series: Moussa: Why must you do this? Rambo: 'Cause he'd do it for me And it's true - Trautman was always there for him. Rambo was steadfast, loyal ...

WOW OSCAR! One that never gets mentioned. Don't know why...I thought it was hilarious. Stallone might not have been ready to do a comedy at the time, but all together with the rest of the cast i really dug it. Anyways, Rambo 2 still my favorite with this entry being my least liked. Don't really consider any Rambo's after this as RAMBO movies. I usually just stick to the 3.
The guy who directed it got away, with, three murders, and, his son got away, with, being a totally creepy predator, (at least, for, a few years), that's the reason.
@@matthewdaley746 Damn, didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I understand now
@@rick9977015 Yeah, he, was, close friends, with, Eddie Murphy, and, Michael Jackson, but, his last big film, was, Coming To America, the career decline of the, former, and, the scandals related to the, latter, quickly, dragged him down, Blues Brothers 2000, finished him off, for, good, his son, was, undone by, The, Me, Too, Era.
I went to my local Drive-in Theater with my (Vietnam Veteran) Uncle to watch this Movie.
Both of us thought that this movie was 3 out of 10...
@@matthewdaley746 The problem with rambo 3 was that there was too much stallone in it. The first two rambo's were a success because they focused a lot on the other characters and not just rambo (Brian Dennehy was awesome in First Blood). Stallone's ego was too big at the time as well, which is understandable tbh.
@@matthewdaley746 That's true. I'm glad you brought up Kurtwood Smith. I'm sure he would've been up for playing the main Russian bad guy, just a year after playing the iconic Clarence Boddicker in Robocop. A missed opportunity as I think III lacked strong baddies like the first two rambos.
Did your uncle show you his 5 during it?

Cliffhanger, Demolition Man, Assassins, Copland...
@@Geronimo_Jehoshaphat All classics! I love Stallone's underrated 1993-late 90's period. Still in amazing shape too, apart from Cop Land of course...
Rambo and the Taliban joining forces. That hasn’t aged well
Rambo and the Mujahiddeen...Taliban not born yet....
@@angmargudjonson2160
They became the Taliban. Don’t try to sugarcoat it.
I think the afghan stuff was just an excuse to get rambo to fight the russians. He goes to the village for 10 mins then the rest of the film is him wiping out half the soviet army.
@@theshadowman1398 really, really and really?
Please do Extreme Prejudice!
All Rambo films I have a soft spot sure there's better than others but rather watch this than most films
I watched it on opening weekend
The first mission in MGS V looks like from Rambo 3.
I like all Rambo I to III movies. IV and V I think they pushing the envelope on that two.
Surrounding them is out. 🤔
Rambo 3 hunting knife is the best out of the films.
Rambo aka part 4 is the best
I enjoyed the movie but I’m a big action movie buff🤷♂️
Carolco also produced Universal Soldier. Arnold Schwarzenegger released both Twins and Red Heat that same year
It looks, like, Triplets, will, never, see the light of day, now, but, considering that they, were, replacing Eddie Murphy, with, Tracy Morgan, that's, probably, for, the best, Red Heat, was, criminally underrated, RIP, Ivan Reitman.
The name 'Carolco' basically means the 'golden age of action cinema'. A special time and a special company, a time when people were passionate about quality action movies.
@@matthewdaley746 I think Red Heat is one of Arnold's better movies.
@@dougmasters4579 Eras, permanently, missed, unfortunately.
@@dougmasters4579 Actual Russian locations, excellent.
That time we made a movie about an afghan war before the afghan war
I don't know why many people's hate this movie?
Rambo 3 rocks!
Rambo First Blood is the best in the series.
Rambo First Blood Part II is overrated
Rambo 3 is underrated
Rambo 4 is most brutal and stylish in the series
Rambo Last Blood is disappointed
Rambo III' kicks azz
hot shot is the greatest film.........spoofing a Rambo movie
Enemy: I zeee you are no strangerrr to pain.
Colonel Trautman: I've been married.... Twice.

If you know history, the Mujahideen (rebels in Rambo 3) were killed by the Taliban. So it shouldn't be controversial.
1:49 that Body ❤
It's insane that after this movie the U.S went in and did everything the Russians did X ten.
