Part of me thinks that they took a look at AtGames and iiRcade, and thought to themselves "If these companies are charging more for their cabs, why can't we?" without a thought for the higher quality and features those companies put into their cabs.

I was looking for this cab for over a year. I turned down those crazy Ebay prices, but did buy at $550 from Game Stop. This game is more in demand than NBA Jam too which should be taken into consideration. Turtles was technically $399 original retail I believe. As far as the $700 cabs those I won't buy at all unless on clearance or used.

Glad you're making this point, one of the few TH-camrs keeping them honest. Price hikes on older legacy cabinets like this one are disgraceful. T2 is new technology, so I get an increase there, but really!? Like you said Fox, no different than NBA Jam. Damn shame bro.
Glad i got mine for $399 at arcade1up direct when it first released. Only other cab i bought direct was the limited edition Marvel Super Heros. Here i always thought buying directly from the main site got you better deals. Apparently the strategy has changed where just going to the main site and then redirecting to a cheaper retailer. Good marketing strategy arcade1up😂👍
I just started putting mine together today. Price sucks, but after missing this cabinet and watching the price shoot up on them, I bought it anyway. I'm passing on everything else they've announced though. Got the pre-order for Big blue, but may cancel it also. I've definitely becoming alot pickier on buying cabinets now though.
It is not worth $549, If it had the stool with it 🤔 maybe but that is a tough maybe.. NBA Jam was a let down, I think the price dropped on that because if the incomplete Rosters and not so great Live experience. I get your point though, NBA jam had all the everything lit marquee, stool, live and light up deck protector for $499 when it hit my stores. There is absolutely zero excuse for the new price hikes, I will wait until those new cabs hit clearance 😂 Greta Video! 💪🏽
I love this cab and the games on it. I agree it should be @ $399 and it should have had WiFi for multiplayer. These games are more fun playing with other people and without WiFi I play solo most of the time.
When this cabinet came out a few years ago i missed out on it. It was cheaper at $400 but still I decided to buy it . Yes $550 is a steep price but is much better then paying $700 for the new cabs. I just think GameStop had a whole bunch of this in a warehouse and decided to resell them at a higher price to make a profit.
It released for the first time last year. Also the reason supply was so limited after release was because thousands of units were lost to the bottom of the ocean.
19kfox, After the initial offer from A1Up at $399 (and with FREE SHIPPING...sadly, which I passed on) turned out to be a really missed opportunity. When it came time to GameStop selling them at $499, I was already out. However, another $50 price hike seems simply outrageous. Nice cabinet with an equally nice game list...but not worth the money. I could only justify it if the new wave of Golden Axe cabinets included WiFi, light-up deck protector and stool. Cheers, Brent
Ever since Arcade1up did collaborations with Supreme and Steve Aoki, this company has took a big jump in their direction with pricing and who their targeted customers are now. It's not a coincidence. It seems like now they're targeting the sneaker head/high end "FOMO" customers. They have pretty much killed my desire to buy any future cabinets with these ridiculous prices that yield no impactful improvements whatsoever. I don't want to hear that lumber excuse either. They use cheap MDF. The jump in prices have no justification to them at all.
They made a crapload of NBA Jam to more than likely offset the cost of the Licensing and other options. I mean NBA jam was in every retail/club store. Golden axe had a limited release and it was at GameStop or Arcade 1up's site. It was out of stock for the longest time till recently. Demand wasn't there so I can only assume why the price was higher because less was made.
The Arcade1up NBA Jam costs $1100 AUD here, which is over $800 USD at the moment. The Simpsons is $1399 AUD and the Legacy Street Fighter or Mortal Combat machines are $799. I guess they can still sell them, as they are being offered through major retailers. We do have retro gaming specialists producing various full sized designs and custom cabinets, usually with at least a 26" monitor and Sanwa controls starting from not much more, so the value seems poor.
Just subbed you today. Digging then channel. I’m in the construction industry. Prices of my products that I sell have gone through the roof. Raw material has absolutely skyrocketed in price since COVID-19. Thus making everything higher. Price of Gold is eye popping. These 3/4 are expensive but they are nowhere near the price of full size games. All in all I don’t mind paying the price for the games I have ant. Is what it is. At the end of the day you will buy what you want Bc if you want it then you will justify the price. That’s just my opinion.

Great recap! Just too small for a true 4 player experience for grown men. Monitor size remains an issue for all 4 player A1up games - 17" just too small. And ALL cabs should have wifi going forward. I can see this being priced at $400, maybe $450 - anything past that is just too rich. And a GREAT point about the build quality versus the increased cost.
One way to look at it is, considering their outrageous price hike for the same products, they’re now pretty much forced to focus on “A-List” titles to make them worth it in the eyes of their customers. No ones going to be convinced of the random side arcade game anymore…they need to either be the big hits (After Burner…Daytona…Operation Wolf…WWF…) or unique controls. Anything else just won’t work at this higher price point and that’s a shame.
5:04 Oh, it gets worse. What you're pointing out isn't even T-molding, it's just red tape. For comparison, the wrap around the control deck is real T-molding.

Way too many great Sega titles deserved a spot on this cab more than Wrestle War. They could opted to go with Alien Storm or Shadow Dancer, something that wouldn't have to change aspect ratios and could still use the three action buttons. It's not worth 550. Granted, Golden Axe is my favorite arcade title, but this is underwhelming at that price point

HELL NO. I WOULD NOT PAY $550 FOR A LESSER CABINET. I got my Capcom Legacy a week ago for $399.99. T- molding and art graphics were peeling out of the box. 100% disappointed.

arcade 1up pricing is a bad joke and i wanted golden axe.... they still got the same issues from 2 years ago, my street fighter legacy came with no drilled holes on one side and the t molding has chips, my mvc has floating lines in the boe screen also its not a arcade perfect port of the game and my out run steering wheel is lose as a goose and it lacks live which it should have had ..I wont pay 700 for damaged goods, inferior controls a dumb stool and poor product management
It isn’t worth it, if you want to run this cabinet with a worthwhile feel and controls you are looking at 100 dollars more to get Sanwa sticks and replace all the crappy 1up stock sticks. Next the buttons, probably another 50 to 100 for Happ buttons or sanwa. Now you are into it another couple hundred dollars. At 400 bucks.... it wasn’t so bad with their cheap crap that needed replaced. I’m not throwing close to 1000 dollars for a replica arcade. The only arcade they can possibly release that I will throw down money like that would be MVC2 because I am a huge marvel Capcom fan. Other than that I won’t bring that money. I can spend 600 right now on a Space Ace iircade and that arcade is the gift that keeps on giving with more titles all the time.
Not worth the price.... The more I learn the more I believe NO cabinet should be over 99 Canadian and the short cabs should NOT go over 33 Canadian..... I am too the point where I think the price is at unjust enrichment levels and that breaches the criminal code of Canada and I would hope is the same for America.... reasonable profit I can understand and accept BUT that should be defined by the paying customer and NOT the corporate asshat looking to bend u over and have their way with you
@@19kfox when money was hard to come by you become frugal, then when the job actually starts to pay well, you are still frugal and want bang for your buck, especially when you do not ever take vacations because being debt free and staying that way is a goal..... so when you spend 4kish on a kick ass PC and u think "gauntlet or t2 would be great games" u lok at the way overpriced machine or you look at the gog sales and see if a $5 game will catch your interest, surprizingly enough some do so u can spend 100 and get 100 gamesish and while it does not scratch the arcade itch game you want, you have more games than you can play anyway, I still play battletech (10k hours) and I still play mech mercenaries, I forgot how to play the swordmuse in lineage 2 lol and eve online sucks greedy bastards destroyed that game so m,any affordable alternatives. We don't know the details on Terminator 2 yet. Don't count on anything greatly improved on since Buck Hunter.

If you don't have it already, X-Men vs Street Fighter is a better wifi fighter cab at $399. I have it and it's one of my favorites.

Justified price is absolutely correct! Look what it has done to the ps5! Still near impossible to get it retail. Price gougers galore.

Inflation should be at max 10%. A1U are artificially inflating their prices by over 30%. This is profit driven, nothing else.
