I love that you mentioned playing Golden Axe at the Franklin Mills arcade. I played it a lot there too and that was an awesome arcade! The whole 49th Street Galleria area was pretty rad with the laser tag, rollerskating, etc.

Thanks for the video review. Waited a few years to see if A1up was ever going to do a more realistic cab, but had to settle on the re-release at 499. Got it for 100 off, as of this post. Had to move a couple of cabs to another room to make room for this one. I had the original Golden Axe on the Sega console. The cabinet should be here, soon. Looking forward to playing this again.
It’s definitely a really good cabinet. I’ve been hoping they would do a two player original Golden Axe with the newer cabinet shape they been using. But I doubt that will ever come. Good pickup!

Yeah they did a really good job on this one, I was saying that it would be cool if next year they did a root beer tapper cabinet with joust , joust 2 and wizard of wor, for the control deck they could put the tappers and two joysticks plus the fire buttons, that would be a cool two player arcade cabinet
I’m 38 yo and I will definitely build my man cave in my 3rd bedroom with this arcades.im also planning on getting an air hockey table in the middle of the room for my friends to enjoy with a cold beer on the weekends

Another great review video Jason. I think The Brick is the only retailer presentally selling this cab. After watching this video you got me rethinking my next two arcade1up purchases. I have been saving for Ms Pac Man and the anticipated re-release of the new and improved Asteroids as displayed at CES 2020. I hoping Asteroids will finally make it to Canada. Thanks again Jason.
Thanks Steven much appreciated! I highly recommend the Golden Axe cab. I have the Ms Pac (and while that one is great) I give the edge to Golden Axe 👍 The new 12 in 1 with Tempest form factor that’s rumored sounds pretty awesome which will have Asteroids.
I want this cab so bad. I’m kind of stuck as the one retailer that has this cab doesn’t have a store here yet. It opens on Nov 19 and hopefully they have one left for me by then. Glad you like it, I think it will be a big hit in my arcade

Shinobi was my favorite! Altered beast is also a classic. All the games in this cabinet are great. This might be the best one yet!!!

Damn......I really don't have the room for it but now you have me wanting to go out and buy this game. The Golden Axe games were a huge part of my younger years and I've never even played the Death Adder version, since this is really the only way I'll be able to play it, I'm really going to have to figure out a way to get this

Fun fact. The sound effects from og Golden Axe when the enemy die and say "ohh goOOd" and when the old guy is being beaten in the 1st level and is screaming is from the og First Blood movie with Stallone. The enemy ooh goOOD! scream is from the part when Rambo throws the rock at the chopper after he dives off of that cliff and the officer falls to his death. The old man being beaten scream is when one of the officers gets stabbed in the leg by Rambo in the forest.

I used to play the revenge of death adder all the time. I would play as that pitch fork guy because he has that ability to give everyone life with those apple trees lol.
The playable characters are awesome in that game. And their magic is so cool especially the apple tree!

I either gotta go the ebay route and pay an arm and leg or wait for it to hit retail early next year. Luckily for me I have these games on a multitude but still want the golden axe cabinet for nostalgic reasons
Great channel and great video! I would have preferred if they put wonderboy in this cab instead of wrestle wars, never played wrestler wars. With wonderboy another Sega classic near and dear to my heart, it would have been epic. That’s my only complaint. But maybe they will do another Sega cab in the future who knows. I feel lucky I got one for the original price. Can’t believe these sold out already! 🤯
Hilarious you mentioned Franklin mills ...I’m from Scranton and we use to always do road trips to franklin mills and they always had the best arcades.
That arcade there was amazing. Pretty sure that was the first arcade I ever experienced. I remember they had to shut it down because there was so much crime and violence going down in there and in the parking lot. Lol 😂

Awesome review 😎. I wanted to ask if you have any issues with your game freezing?Mine freezes when it in attract mode for Golden Axe the revenge of the death adder.
Thanks so much GameMom77👍 i haven’t noticed attract mode freezing on Death Adder. I had it going on attract for about 15 minutes earlier today and didn’t freeze. About how long did it take for it to freeze on yours?

Nice review! Can’t believe I didn’t order it when I had the chance, event though I spent a lot of money over the summer on Arcade1Up accessories and cabinets. At $399 I’ve should of gotten it no matter what. It’s sucks that I’ll have to pay $499 , but I want this so bad so I don’t care.

QUESTION! With the original golden axe on Sega, after u save the prince & princess the game continues. But on arcade1up version the game ends after u save them. Why did they shorten it???
I think that’s how the Sega Genesis version was but I could be wrong there. Both the arcade and arcade1up versions both just end after you run through it 👍
I just got this cabinet at my nearest GameStop, at 50% off! Easily my best gaming score. The original Golden Axe was the first game I ever beat, and I managed to beat every other Golden Axe game since- except The Revenge of Death Adder. Finally got to beat it yesterday, mere months after the game’s 30th anniversary 😎

When you turn on the cabinet, does it actually display the SEGA logo? Is there even a copyright notice?
I believe yes there is a SEGA logo on the boot up screen. It’s a shame there isn’t a logo on the cabinet, like maybe on the front panel with all the games.

I like how everybody that owns starts off with saying it will go up in price to 499. I’m sure Best Buy will have it with a matching stool for that price.

I think it will be at some point on GameStop. It seems like they keep randomly restocking this cab on their website. I believe it was available yesterday on it but now showing unavailable.

The last arcade1up that was really worth it IMO. After this, it was just 2-3 games each. I get licensing and all that. But charging 5-600 for two or three games is just bad. Especially with the sound issues some of them have

Hey great video ! I just got mine and put it together last night, impressive machine and love the design. I noticed u were able to just go from game to game in the same boot up session ? Did you need to change a setting to do that? on mine I can't exit a game and enter another, instead it automatically goes to a settings menu. Im pressing A to choose a game, and hold 1up to exit to menus but then pressing A only goes to the settings menu... and I must turn the machine off and on to get back into a game. Tried contacting the company but its taking forever to get answers from them. Cheers
Thanks James much appreciated! So to get back to the main menu at any point, just hold down ‘Player 1 Start’ for a few seconds and it will automatically take you to the game selection main menu.
@@3rdFloorArcade oh my pleasure you've done a fantastic job showcasing this arcade:) also thanks for the quick reply ! Yes that works for me no problem. However my issue is that once I exit a game and I return to the menu selections screen and I choose to enter any game from the menu screen I go to a settings menu instead of restarting the game, and can only save and exit from the settings menu in that session. Its not until I switch the machine off and on that I can enter any game and not go to settings. Weird and doesn't seem like the intended behavior 🤔

Well I sorted it out on my own and realized its so simple... It didn't mention this is the instructions probably because they assumed it to be obvious ! It was just that I didn't notice the gear icon which controls the dip settings, it's just a joy stick flick down on the menu settings and back up to game selection. Of course ! So all good and loving my machine. Whats your thoughts on Wrestle War ! Tough that one ! Trying to get past second boss 😄

Yeah I totally agree with you there. These 4 player cabs take up a lot of space in the home, they should have maximized the wide deck with more 4 player games. You will love this cab tho, it’s awesome!

Yes. Each game has a settings menu and adding scan lines is an option 👍

I wish that Golden Axe 1 was a 3 player as I remember playing it back in the arcade when I was a kid. If there's any way you can change it in the settings then it would be great. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to arcade games but nonetheless the Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder cab is still a worthy buy for me despite the minor issue but I'm just nitpicking. I played the 2nd Golden Axe game in the arcades and it was awesome to play the game. The same goes for Shinobi and Altered Beast as I enjoyed playing those games in the arcade as well.

Altered beasts and shinobi are games that would have been better not included.

@@3rdFloorArcade Yeah, it was made by SEGA on 1994, and it is canon to the series, kind of.
I didn't have much interest at first but it has grown on me...and sadly they jacked up the price (ugh). Maybe they will throw in a stool for the price hike to make it worth it to new buyers. Otherwise, I am not sure I can justify the purchase (plus I am out of room lol).
I think at 499 they should def throw in a Golden Axe stool!

I would still buy this at $499 especially if you’re a fan of the Golden Axe games. This cab is in my top 3 favorite Arcade1ups to date.
@@3rdFloorArcade I’m actually a fan of the design of the cabinet rather then the games itself. I have them all playable on the legends ultimate cabinet but something about the arcade 1 ups cabs just keeps me buying more and more. I have already run out of space to put them yet I’m getting the marvel vs X-men one and burgertime next week lol. Guess they will stay in box till I open them someday.
Too bad there was not a Gauntlet cab with 4 controls.
I always wonder if Arcade1up will ever release an updated 4 player Gauntlet with better controls and monitor than the one on Rampage.

Yeah that’s a great point. Totally agree there. I really wish they made this the standard 2 player deck especially since most of us has limited space in our homes. 👍
