For $700, I expect everything to be perfect. Issues like these are inexcusable for this price point.

$700 Actually isn't that expensive for an arcade cabinet, I know these aren't and were never meant to be arcade quality but one of those cabinets can easily set you back 3-5k.

    • @DlCKWALLACE
      @DlCKWALLACE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +64

@@BriBCG Yea 3-5k for a full sized cabinet with no issues. For a mini cabinet less than half the size, $700 is still good chunk of money for most people. At that price there should be none of these easily avoidable issues presented in the video.

You just haven’t factored in that the $ has failed . Wait for it . It’ll sink in . Then you’ll realize this is a arcade 1up at 3/4 scale and this is all frankly par for the course .

Yeah I can agree with everyone on here but I guess it boils down to each there own. Arcade 1up should have already taken into account From there first run of arcades that the number one thing to get right is the controls. I’m sure they’ve heard people’s concerns and complaints they have already had the opportunity to see what they can do better.I bought the MK Arcade 1Up and I knew already it wasn’t going to be the best, so I bought it more just for the retro look the memories and etc. Almost the same reason why I’m going to buy a few more of these just more for nostalgic. I’ve built my own with a 40” lcd screen with the same dynamics of a real arcade but made mine a bartop, I’ve built it for anyone can play from adults to children, big arms small arms big hands small hands lol.. just enough room to enjoy… I had to put all these wonderful games that a lot of us grew up on.

For all the young gamers, I remember this arcade machine from back in the day. It was the loudest bass heavy game in the arcade. 50 other machines around, and thats the one you heard over them all, and that includes ridgeracer and daytona that were reeeeeaaally loud. Honestly for the price point I don't see it being worth it for the size and for only getting one or 2 games. I always thought it was a an impulse buy. Now if they had a fully customizable machine where you can purchase cartridges I think that would be a lot better than wasting so much space. I imagine having a main cabinet and you can choose the controller layout based on the games you'd like to purchase. Have at least the ability to plug in 4 cartridges' at a time so you can switch between them as well as storage for more if you end up buying more than 4. Also being able to swap out the artwork would be a nice addition as well. They really need to change it up if they want more people to actually buy into, also better quality control would be nice.

I just put my cabinet together last night and it’s great! More than happy i got it, only thing I seen as an issue is one screw for the controller didn’t actually grip onto anything and is just sitting there.
The arcade game is exactly how I remember it and it never really had great audio to begin with also I’ve just watched a heap of videos showing the intro, some from as long as 6 years ago also some recorded from the og cabinet and nope Lisa’s part is exactly like that.
Also I have huge hands and when I stand and play homer as intended (front on) i don’t have any collision issues with the joystick. However If I stand over closer to Marge’s side I can recreate the position you had your hands in tho, but that’s not how I would play it.

Being a smaller cabinet (& without looking under the control panel), I'd say that's the only orientation they could come up with to physically fit everything in there. IMO, it would've been better to scrap the bowling game which would've given them more space for the sticks & buttons.

When the price goes above the price of multicades like the atgames LU and the iiRcade, it begins to lose attraction for many fans, especially given recent competitor price drops. Great critique as always for the 1ups. 700usd is the same price they sell for in the UK so I know how you feel. We do have legacy cabinets now for 475usd but they never get discounted. As you said its a flagship game especially for 1up so they want to milk it I'm sure it will get heavily discounted in the future. As with light gun games 2 hotd games won't hold value they need to put 12 games standard. This simpsons cabinet could have easily had put 10 other Konami games on
Anyway my point with simpsons is like the final fight cabinet they are great but these are longer arcade left to right games where you have to invest time and once complete it's easy just to leave it for months and then revisit. As with SF or MK you can always just turn it on for a quick fight or you guys have NBA jam play one game online perfect play for 5 min then come back another time. Simpsons bowling is okay/fun but kinect sports bowling would be better if you have 4 ppl round in opinion.

@@CraigGrannell the uk charge VAT the same as import tax @ 20% and anything that weights 50kg/100lb then air freight is the same minimum so hence why it doubles the cost. The main problem is the UK market for these machines only get sold via 2 outlets and are marketed poorly. So a lot don't see enough value to buy one even mod on top so just stays a specialist product. Shame as the legacy cabinets in my opinion at £349 are good value with a stool at £49 then that's 530usd as of writing. Our main issue is choice I understand no one over here will buy basketball but the outrun or golden axe version would be a winner. I will also mention that in the us places like Walmart massively reduce these 1ups down to 100usd so any old Joe will just buy one

To be fair, for some reason they redesigned the controls. If you look up the original Simpsons (or TMNT arcade) cabinet, all the buttons are further from the joystick, but also, they're rotated so that 4 players can actually stand in front of the cabinet without hitting each other. A 4-player cabinet in this "reduced size" arrangement is going to be a problem. The machine either should have been an entire foot wider, with a bigger screen, or they should have put 4 USB ports in front of the controls to allow a wired arcade controller to be used from further back.

You’re bugging- the sound is PERFECT! I put the volume on 5 bars out of 15 and I can hear it perfectly. My girl said she can even hear the sounds through the walls in the other room when the volume was at 5 bars so I don’t know what’s wrong with your cabinet man.

It’s only $400 at Walmart. Game is great. Bowling is fun too! The button placement is fine.

I advice anyone not to buy any of their arcades!!
I bought the TMNT one and only worked for one day and the next day I couldn’t get it to turn on!
Secondly it’s hard to get in contact with them for a refund

I own this. I liked it. My issue was there was no sound on the bowling, after a quick update I got the sound to work. The controls didn't bother me there was enough room for my hands to play homer and not touch the track ball or hit my thumb with the joystick and I have big hands too. This one and TMNT are great additions to my 1 up arcade collection in my opinion.

I know you wrote this awhile back but what update or how did you get the sound to work?? Thanks in advance!

@ian1753 No problem. I hope this helps. I downloaded an update via a hotspot on my cellphone after the update it worked. That was it. Very easy, I hope it works for you!

I just picked this up. Literally the only reason is because I got it on sale for $399. The price it should have been originally.

I don't play fighting style games but I will never ever understand who thought that most right handed people would want to control a joystick with their left hand.

I don't know man I'm 6'2 and I have some pretty big hands. And I have no issues with any of the characters.

MAME cab people. Smaller footprint, bigger screen, higher quality, only 1 cab for +10k games. Actual arcade roms. No brainier.

Matt Groening's signature is on everything Simpsons. He has some kind of iron-clad contract that requires it.

AFAIR, the fourth player's (Lisa) joystick handle and buttons were orange in the original cabinet.

the button / control layout is just inexcusable , they had more than enough room to lay them out perfectly .

It also makes no sense why the screen isn't bigger. The original cabinet doesn't have this much controls sticking on either side of it. A larger screen would allow for the controls to be less cramped and spaced apart more.

I’ve been done with them since they raised the prices. The cabinets are cool for what they are, but they should never be over $500

I remember playing the sh*t out of The Simpsons game at this place called Fun World over at Co'op City New York when I was a kid. Sigh I miss the 90's and in some cases I miss being a kid.

They’ve dropped the price down to $400 in Walmart…some even have them on sale for $200 depending on which one you go to.

@@kcadventures1454 good deal, no one is buying these things anyway…with the price of food and utilities going up, no one can afford these. I’m just waiting for them to do the same with the X-MEN cabinet. It shouldn’t be long. They’re still trying to milk it between $589 and $750 though.

700$ used to be top dollar for an actual machine. At that price I'd want Sunset Riders, Turtles, and Simpsons in one machine.

Since arcade 1 ups are nothing more than an emulated game with a flat screen why not simply buy a Pandora Box and have 4500 to 5000 games so they won’t be able to complain about its overly expensive price?
