Great instructional video! So much you can do with GarageBand and the Orba combined. It’s inexpensive and doesn’t require a great deal of musical knowledge or instrument experience.
I use the Orba2 as my standalone portable instrument and idea creator/sampler... I now use my old Orba1 as nothing but an expressive controller, and it definitely has it's place in my permanent musical arsenal.
Orba also works really well as a controller for the Slate drum machine in the Nanostudio app. Just change 8 of the pads (10 for bump and shake) to the corresponding MIDI notes.
Thanks, just awesome. I work in Assistive Technology and have just ordered an Orba to explore with my clients with disabilties. Really interested to explore how the tilt function etc can work for them if accessing the touchpad is tricky. Music is a language tha transcends so many barriers.
great video! I just stumbled upon this thing and it looks really interesting to use as a handheld midi controller for my Ipad music making apps. As I‘m not really interested in the standalone features, I was wondering if there are any improvements in MIDI capabilities in the orba 2 or if I might as well get a used Orba 1 for my intended use. thanks
From the website. “You'll see an option to turn off Orba sounds in the top left of the menu. Note: this toggle will only work if you're connected via USB.” Need more guidance here please. This video doesn’t show Orba connected in any way other thsn Bluetooth.
Hi there, are you using a computer or a wall charger to charge Orba 2? If using a computer, please make sure "USB charging" is turned on in the app settings. If you're still having trouble after doing this, please contact us at support@artiphon.com, and we'll be happy to troubleshoot with you.
@@Artiphon its not that, it seems to come on whenever you hit the power button every so often. Never on demand. Its getting very annoying and I did manage to update the firmware on my laptop when it came on the first time. But once it shuts off. It’ll go back to not coming on demand. I literally just got it brand new like 3 days ago.
I can Bluetooth connect my Orba but when I go in to the supported apps like GarageBand and Orba, it doesn’t play anything. In the Orba app it even says it isn’t connected at the top!

Hi there, are you using a desktop computer or a phone? If you're using a computer, you'll need to connect Orba via USB and select Orba as the output device in GarageBand.
@@daylate7 Thanks for letting me know. If you're playing on your phone, it'll only play the audio through the phone's audio output rather than Orba's speakers. 👍
When connecting Orba to Garageband on the Ipad, the sound comes out of the Ipad instead of Orba. Is it possible for Garageband's sound to come out directly on Orba? [PT-BR] Ao conectar Orba ao Garageband no Ipad, o som sai do Ipad ao invés do Orba. Tem como o som do Garageband sair direto do Orba?
@@paulepling So I’ve been playing with it for months and there are ways to kinda sorta save it using the Orba app on your phone but I haven’t figured a way to export so it can tweak the timing. Recording tricky and the touch sensor can be imprecise especially when tapping the center A button to change modes.

Pushing the boundaries of musical expression in a user-friendly way… This is awesome. I’m just afraid if I get one, I might never leave the house.😮

thank you for this video. this is why I got Orba but it was sitting collecting dust until this video! I am going to enjoy this.
This just changed everything for me thank you!!
It’s really way more than it looks like, especially when I have just my iPhone on me on the go 👍👍👍
Yessss!!! I was literally trying to set mine up now!!!😍😍
Now to get those tracks for garage band for MacBook Pro
Gotta get one

Hey Arne! All of the MIDI info between Orba 1 and Orba 2 is the same, except that Orba 2 has quantize.

Hi there, you could also turn off Orba's sounds by using the volume down button on Orba. 👍
like to need is to have or vice versa;-)
Would this work with AUV3 plugins loaded into Garageband?
Hi there, Orba is a class-compliant MIDI control, so it meets all the requirements to do so.
Connected the orba via USB C to the iPad, however the sounds are coming from the Orba rather than the iPad.. why please explain?
In the video he shows how to turn it off
Well i got my ORBA 2 in yesterday and it wont power on but only twice and now is dead.

No, but never heard of someone really asking for it...hmmm.
I’m wondering how you get through an amp while Bluetoothing to GB for actual stage performing?? Ideas?
Ok but how can you import a track you’ve created and saved from your Orba?
I'm guessing the midi controller use, u could save the song there and then export it as an . mp3
