Thanks for sharing, I bicycled this coast and beyond in the mid 80s and its my favorite place to ride. Spectacular views and good people, tough at times but worth every moment.
Beautifully done. This is on my list of things to do. As I get older I guess I feel a little more intimidated, but it will get done, so thanks for sharing your journey. Inspiring!
I went from Seattle to San Francisco this last summer and I saw that descent into Humbug on your video. That was probably the best view of the whole trip!
I thought this video was very inspiring and i love the way you met up with all these different people all with their own different stories and on their own little adventures. awesome vid, great people and beautiful coast line!! :)
that hill out of mitchell was brutal....9 miles of up in the heat of the day. Biking has taught me to embrace the pain..almost a zen like mental state. Im gratefull to have learned that lesson, carries over to many aspects of my life. Hope to post the sf part of the trip in a couple weeks. will be leaving again to bike SE oregon in sept.
An excellent video in every respect. Thanks for taking what must have been a huge amount of time creating such an enjoyable video every can enjoy, cyclists and non-cyclists alike.
Reminds me of my `82 trip, part of which was L.A. to Newport OR. The coast is BEAUTIFUL . I also think of it often and wish I could have stayed out longer.:-)
Always love running across other bikers, I've got a Surly and although I have not been touring, I'm hoping to do my first summer of 14 on Oregon coast.
That was great. Great quality of images, very classy shots! I also like how many folks you met along the way. The visual example for the reason to cycle north to south down the coast was perfect. Thanks and I hope to see ya on the road ;
yes, both part 1 and 3. go to peterqbrown designs and look. let me know if you can't find it because they don't have many views and i am not sure why they are not found. i would like to make them a group, but don't have a full grasp of how youtube works that way. any advise here much appreciated
First, find the first video you want on the Playlist that you will be creating. Copy the URL (Ctrl + C)(www.youtube….) you will need that later. Go to your TH-cam Channel. To the right of the TH-cam Logo is a Drop down Menu. Hover over that and then scroll down to PLAYLIST. Select At the top click +New playlist. Write in the name of your new playlist in the box that opens. Select, Create. Add Video. This is where you Paste (Ctrl + P) that URL to your video. Select (Blue Box). Now, go back to your Channel and scroll down to the bottom and click on Add Section. Select, Single Playlist. Then Find Playlist. Scroll down to the Playlist you just created and select it. And click on Done. Kinda weird but it works for me. I created a new playlist (Walk With Fred, Colorado) as I described how to do it to you. Cheers. Let me know if it doesn't work. FRED
Nice video. I biked the Oregon coast twice, and its wonderful. The only thing I would say is make sure you have a tent or similar shelter, and set it up no matter what, every night. Even when the weather looks perfect, that fog bank will roll in at night, and you will be soggy in the morning.
Nice piece and interesting ride. I enjoyed your casual interview soundbites with other cyclists you met along the way. I know that journey of northern OR by car from many years ago, maybe one day doing as you did by bike.
i really like your video alot i like when they all told where there from and everything that was intersting i like to ride my catrike i dont work but i long distance rinder every body be safe+enjoy
Great editing Peter, did you take some still photos? Living in Eugene, OR its common to have friends that do bike touring like Bike America or Bike Oregon. What I was thinking while watching your video was how many individual riders pass through an Oregon coastal town in a given summer. Have you set-up a blog to give advice for future novice riders?
I want to ride to Ca from PDX really badly. Would like to know the best way, in terms of avoiding too much traffic as well. hate the idea of cars zooming right next to me. But can handle a bit of that. How was riding on a suspension fork? Seems like it might remove some momentum. As that an older steel frame MTB? Looks like nice trip full of memories. Envious!
no blog, not sure I could advise anyone other than to say the fear of traffic is something you can easily overcome! yes I have some stills, but mostly video.
So... at 9:25 the one guy said, "that everyone on the tour was unemployed, and seeing it as a plus." Unless a person is retired, how in the world does a person go on a long tour, and pay for ALL THE EXPENSES while they have no money coming in? Do they not have ANY BILLS back home? Do they even have a home or an apartment? Food isn't cheap and while on a tour, you need A LOT of it. Hiker/biker camps are inexpensive but not free. I just don't understand how people can spend a month or more without incoming money.
hi garth! remember me? I was the guy with the guitar at kirk creek, and a few other places along California...lost my camera in big sur... did ft kent, maine-boston the next year and got my picture in the bangor newspaper! google "vic Suzuki acadia los angeles" !
I'm not Garth, but here is his contact. Turn him on to this video, and the others, Im sure he will appreciate seeing himself here. A real nice guy he was. Email: gtg9999@hotmail.com Mailing Address: 2575 West 10th Avenue Vancouver BC V6K 2J5
It is strange but from time to time I just come back here to watch this film again and again. Great video, great story :)

Finding this in 2015 and it's still an inspirational video. Thanks for sharing
Really liked it. Favorite part was seeing/hearing the other bike travelers. Nice and Thank you
SUPER-NICE video including excellent sountrack. I'l be watching it more than once. Thanks for the pleasure.
Thanks for sharing. Road across the US in 2003. Start of my trip was down the Oregon coast. Still think about it all the time.
I like your video and the stories of the men and the woman you meet. Thanks.

Great work of filming/editing. Just awesome job!! I'm in Florida and loved hearing the geese honking. No four seasons here. Happy Trails.

Il sogno della mia vita....nel nuovo mondo potrò attuarlo in salute perfetta.
Per ora mi accontento dei vostri bellissimi video.

Great video and thanks for sharing your experience. This is on my list for my sabbatical I'm taking in summer 2016.
Really awesome video, I'd love to do something like that when school isn't looming, maybe summer if classes aren't heavy.
Great video. I'm trying to get psyched to do this ride. This helped.

I have an ambition as to do this!!! They say chase your goals right?
nice shots and edit...
what were the most important items you brought on this trip? a packing list? Thanks
I'm planning this same trip from Eugene to San Francisco, where are these campgrounds? Any you would suggest?
Nice to see video like this, You don't need to sell me, I so wish I could get away from life and chase you everywhere. With my BOB Trailer.
Great video! What camera do you use and where do you mount it while in motion?
Go pro, hand held, Canon t3i on the ride by shots
how much was on trails, how much was on roads? some of it looks really sketchy riding with those trucks.
All on roads. You get used to it, but a helmet mirror is essential!!
Why wait till your dead; visit heaven now. It is on the Oregon coast. Those are simply spectacular views, thank you!
Is the 3rd part posted? Thanks.
yes th-cam.com/video/TQGy7OMLq1E/w-d-xo.html

I guess no one wanted to answer my pinpointed question?
Accountability and Conviction bears the motives of the heart.
good!!
superb.
Mahalo.
I took the bridge over to Astoria via bicycle. Equally as sketchy.
I heard the Astoria bridge was much much worse
It just never ended. It's called the Megler Bridge. To me, it will ever be known as The Mangler Bridge.
Good
1:18 ,I believe that cyclists are supposed to walk over that bridge to Coos Bay!
Hey,I didn't invent that!
I read about that on touring bicycle forum: crazyguyonabike.com.
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing and may someone find motivation to do just the same!
