The Amiga should have been attacked by Amiga lovers for being too Atari since Jay Miner of Atari 8-bit machine custom graphics, sound and IO chip fame, a concept later copied for the C64, was key in its origin story. The Atari ST was a creation of ex-Commodore engineers Shiraz Shivji, Arthur Morgan, John Hoenig and Douglas Renn. 😁
@@winstonsmith478 Yes it was strange how they flipped around and something similar with management. Ultimately they seemed to be eating each other. With hindsight if Atari and Commodore had merged, allowed for cloning, they could have been or replaced where Apple or PCs are. Or at least could have competed with Nintendo and taken the space the Xbox eventually filled.
I think I'd have tested before reassembling. Those plastic cases must be a bit brittle by now. I suspect those self tapped threads might not like being unscrewed a 2nd time. Nice vid. I love the intro :)
The monitor actually uses metal clips for the screws! But yes, you are right that I should have tested before reassembly however I was confident that it would be alright. I was probably correct this once 😜
I'm sure you now but for anyone who doesn't, where it's a plastic case you can back the screw out the other way just a little bit until you feel it fall into place. That'll help avoid damage.
Great video as always from our favourite top hatted dragon. Looking forward to the big turn on!
Oh man those poor abused machines! Lovely restoration job. Looking forward to the big reveal!
I keep watching Atari ST videos and it’s making me want one! Nice relaxing repair some great shots too!
This was a fantastic video mate. Great work.
The Atari was clearly attacked by Amiga lovers for being too Atari. The poor thing.

And nice relaxed repair. Great intro. And poor Atari, who did this to you?
That is some WIDE kapton tape!
Its not the size, its how you use it
@@NaokisRC XD XD
Someone has done that on purpose. Pitchforks at the ready!
Almost certainly with a flat head screw driver. But why is what I want to know
Dear crikey that's a horror show.
Rocky might have been involved. Or one of those Amigans
@@NaokisRC or simply a frustrated Atarist that got ride of the machine !
Please get some solder wick :D
I have some but I've never found solder wick to work on straight through vias. Single sided copper, sure, but vacuum for anything else
