    Hi Wade. Arran 10 is with no doubt Great Whisky. Craft presented with age statemen at reasonable price. Its exceptional at current Whisky climate. I like Arran 10 from 1st sip and grow on me down the bottle. Remember one night i've been in the mood and had three or four drams and couldn't stop. Quickly finished my bottle. Need revisit soon. Cheers 👍😁🥂🙋🏻‍♂️

    I did get a bottle just after the rebranding a few years ago, and I really liked it then. But it haven't been available in Sweden for about 2 years now, sorry to say, but I've heard some rumours that it will appear some time next year. I really hope that it does 🌞

    Spot on review my friend. To me this is the best contender to get a non whisky drinker to like whisky by way of first introduction to their as yet unannounced journey to them, then let them try again, wait a while, then again. It takes a time to get your head around sipping neat booze when your a beer drinker and no matter if it is a award winner, most non whisky drinkers will have it as the devils brew at first taste. We have all tried a recommended nice one, we thought tasted like diesel and after a few years went back to it, only to appreciate it as a beautiful dram. This is one of the best almost scientifically put together mouth pleasers without pushing the boundaries on any specific, nose or palate holy grail taste or smell taking the top step. It is a master class of a crowd pleaser and clearly put on the top step as such. Beautiful. All that said, 😂, Ledaig sinclair Rioja wins for me as it is stupidly cheap in UK right now it is like stealing it. Love your channel, look forward to your next one.

      Thank you my friend, well said. Arran 10 isn’t my favourite whisky (I too really enjoy the Ledaig Rioja Cask with more bold flavours), but the quality of the Arran 10 is undeniable and I enjoy it greatly.

    Hi Wade, fully agree with you. The Arran 10 is a really good whisky, also considering the price for a 10 years old whisky. In Germany still available for less than 40€.

      Hey Troy, I have the quarter and while I love it, it shows the cask strength fully out front for me. Needs a touch water. On another lovely Arran if you have not tried the Bodega, sherry, also cask strength, that is dare I say it, my top whisky. No alcohol punch in the chops, just a beautiful easy sipper that you would have you on your arse faster than stampede at your local whisky shop giving away free bottles of Springbank 10. It the has all the 10 has with more. For my taste buds it is a wow every-time.

    I really like this whisky but I remember how muted it was when I drank it side by side with the Tamdhu 12 (which is nice but not out of this world... different style too, I get that). The Arran 10 nose and palate is really light, so it kinda disappears when you drink it side by side with other whiskies. In that style of whisky I prefer the Glencadam 10 to be honest.

    • @McIntyresMalts
      @McIntyresMalts  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Interesting! Yes the Tamdhu 12 has loads of aromas and flavours even though it’s a lower ABV and chill filtered. I prefer the Tamdhu sherry profile for my palate, but the Arran has a better texture. Yes the Glencadam has loads of character and has a more unique profile, where I think the Arran 10 excels is that it’s a well presented, affordable textbook example of a honey, fruit and vanilla malt whisky. Cheers for checking this one out 😊

    I like Arran 10 but to win three years in a row shows a spectacular lack of imagination and a high level of groupthink predictability. What's the best whisky? - Oh it's Springbank 10, what a surprise. Best distillery? - Oh, it's Springbank, what a surprise. Best blended whisky? - Oh, it's Thomson Brothers, what a surprise, especially as Roy rated it so highly on a recycling video. Best Blended Malt? Oh, Campbelltown Loch (something to do with Springbank, even though it doesn't taste anything like Springbank), what a surprise. Best new distillery? - Ardnamurchan, how utterly predictable.
    Honestly Wade, I like all of these whiskies but I can't for the life of me think why I would vote for the same expressions year after year. Arran 10 is great value but there are a lot of great value expressions. Are we to vote for the same thing endlessly? I love the OSWAS but it's becoming groundhog day. Yep, there's a lot of highly predictable groupthink taking place.
    Arran 10 is a lovely whisky and great value. I get it, but are we going to buy it and drink it forever like squash? The OSWA's are a democratic voice (and I love Ralfy and Roy) but this could just go on forever. The original concept was shake up the boring and traditional Whisky world to listen to our voice but if the results are going to be the same year after year what's the point?
    Sorry to involve you in my rant my friend but I hope I advance some interesting observations. WT

    • @McIntyresMalts
      @McIntyresMalts  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah I hear you Welsh, and I think Roy and Ralfy have done a good job in recognising this and implementing the condition that once a whisky has won any category 3 years in a row that it can no longer be considered in that category the following year. Given that the OSWAs are only 3 years in, I'd say this makes the lead up to next year's awards the most interesting yet.
      Why do you think people keep voting for the same whisky over and over? Plenty of the nominees were great and any of them would have been a worthy winner. I also don't think we can be upset because a whisky wins over and over again, we might not like the outcome, but it's democracy. I also think there was an element of people getting behind Arran and wanting them to win the trifecta, and that's fair enough too.
      Perhaps it's also that we have been conditioned now to always expect the next thing, the next thing, they next thing and when a whisky is so good that it becomes predictably good at winning we get board because of the repetition.
      The OSWAs are young and I think it time it will do what it is intended to do as it grows and that is become an influence that can swing the pendulum and encourage distilleries to release more integrity spirt, hopefully resulting in so many naturally presented whiskies that it's hard to narrow it down to just 6 great nominees, let alone a winner.
      As always mate I appreciate the banter and your knowledge in the space 🙏
      P.S. For context I wanted Ledaig 10 to win it and thought it would.

    • @bennyfriis601
      @bennyfriis601 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Fair points... nothing like a good rant from time to time 😁👍
      I like the Arran 10, but don't love it. I've had a bottle, but most certainly won't replace it.
      Last year I voted for the Glencadam 10 in this category, this year the Kilkerran 12 (imo a much better dram even at a slightly higher price point, but I get why it couldn't win for a couple of reasons).
      I voted Loch Lomond 12 (could just as well have been Craigellachie 13 too, but only one vote allowed) in the people's choice. The Craigellachie is actually the superior whisky imo, but more expensive than LL 12 in Denmark, which explains my vote.
      Cheers 🥃
