    I have recently started my Scotch journey and enjoying yours and other Scotch Whisky content creators. Springbank simply doesn't exist in my area so I'll have to be very, very lucky to ever get a bottle. Of course, now you know the answer to your question of what happened to the Springbank etc. supply was answered in this video...most every Scotch channel creator loves it and tells everyone to buy it because it's a must have bottle. Unfortunately for most of us people really listen to you guys and the supply cannot keep up with demand. Such is life. I'm a big fan of your channel. Keep it up!

    Frankly, as much as I respect the aura of Springbank/Glengyle, there are a plethora of other interesting whiskies that are more readily available. Was able to find Kilkerran 12 online for 55 USD so I grabbed it but I won't waste much time chasing them. Love SMWS offerings of Glen Scotia(code 93) so that is where I concentrate my efforts on cask strength Campeltown whiskies. Keep up the great content and cheers.

    Got a pair of Springbanks last year (2021) but this year was the mother load Springbank 10, 15, 18, 21, and incoming already paid for 25. Longrow peated and 18. And finally Hazlehurn 15. Terrific year!

    Yes Springbank and Kilkkeran have been missing around here too. The other day saw a Springbank 10 on the shelf for $80 US and passed it by. Evidently had not been keeping up and didn't realize that was a good price now. Hope to swing by there soon to get it if its still there. I have a chance as it's almost all Bourbon at that store. Cheers

    Loving the whiskies from this area. My personal favourite is the Longrow red series. The Springbank range is fantastic. Agree with you that the cask strength 12 is pretty special. If you get a chance to get out to Campbeltown, the shops have plenty of stock.

    I can tell you my top six Campbeltown malts,and they are Springbank 15,10, longrow (NAS), kilkerran12, ,Glen scotia 15 and the double cask ,because that’s all I’ve had from Campbeltown and they are all excellent drams, again, good video. Slàinte

    Anything from Springbank that is at cask strength is selling out within a few minutes. This is the unfortunate trend we all witnessed since a year. Before they happily existed on shelves. Now, this demand spread to their lower abv bottlings as well. Frankly, they are just not as good as cask strength ones or Longrows or Hazelburns( that are close to 50%). Excellent work, MA. You got everything.. great taste in whiskys, music along with that wicked sense of humour.

    Fun intro...Yep Campbeltown rules....I have to disagree about the Hazelburn though, when it is kinda "unadulterated" (essentially for me ex-Bourbon or refill Sherry cask, or something close) it is really nice & subtle & brings something different to the "Springbank family"...Personal taste for sure...Cheers & keep on doing very vivid videos, we love passion ! 👍

    Kilkerran 12 and heavily peated are fantastic.
    I wouldn't bother with anything else as the 16 isn't good enough yet based on the first release.
    Springbank 12 is fairly consistent although the newest release is a full bourbon cask release which is probably somewhat different.
    Hazelburn 14 Oloroso was a whisky that made me love sherried drams.
    Longrow peated is pure salted caramel awesomeness, better than Port Charlotte imo. The standard release when it is available is worth it, better than some of the Longrow 18s.
    Springbank 15 imo is the better whisky when compared to the 18s.

    Simply put: Springbank and Glengyle never increased their production to meet growing demand.
    To compound this people flipping springbank/kilkerran have come out in force.
    I must admit no distributors have properly dealt with this situation and retailers have kind of failed too. Thankfully a lot of flippers are losing money on the more common bottles.
    That said I've seen people around the world say allocation is far less and it no longer available on the shelves. I think this can't only be due to increased demand. In my own country, we've seen much less supply and super high demand. I'm not in the niche enough or rich enough groups but I've managed to get the bottles I wanted, I got lucky on the one especially and split it with friends.
    Kilkerran only operates for 6 weeks a year. Ridiculous.
    Springbank could produce more.
    Lockdown did affect distribution so it's definitely hit how many bottles are on the shelves. But the UK has had a problem having Springbank in stock for a while now.
    Distributors could also be more transparent and allow those who want to drink priority.
    Some of the flipped bottles were rubbish. Like that Madeira wood release so the joke is on the flippers.
    I think I got blocked by another youtube channel for my opinions on this.

    The Springbank availability situation is kind of insane... it's never been good but right now I can't get anything at all online and my local shop has Longrow 18 and 21 for £150 and £210 AND THAT'S IT!... I think the reason is the rabid fanaticism of Springbank fans (compounded by Covid Chaos) and they're simply choosing to let everything go out of stock rather than reduce ABVs, drop age statements or expand like other distilleries have.

    • @MaltActivist
      @MaltActivist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damn, so what do you think's going to happen besides the obligatory price gouging....

    • @WhiskyLock
      @WhiskyLock 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MaltActivist Once Covid Chaos calms down a little I think we'll go back to the more normal levels of poor availability and obligatory price gouging :-) There are a bunch of things Springbank could do to ease the supply issues and apart from building ANOTHER distillery they're probably all bad. Axing the floor maltings is another one that springs to mind. But I don't think they'll change anything. They'll just keep plodding on. When I visited a few years ago they seemed happy to simply be making money and keeping folks in jobs. Fair enough really!

    Glen Scotia 15 is awesome. Kilkerran is not in my market. No Springbank, no Hazelburn, nor any Longrow. I think it is nothing but myth.
    My guess is that Springbank is going through receivership. It is not demand, but lack of supply which animates the crisis.

    It's all hype. There's nothing to see here. If everyone just drank Johnny Walker then Diageo would be happier and there might be some Kilkerran on the shelf. It's all the same thing anyway.
