I actually never heard of Star Blazers before. I am not sure if it was here shown in reruns here in NYC. The only one I can remember watching was Battle Of The Planets and I have such a love for that show to this day. I've always wanted to find vintage items from BOTP for my collection. If I ever make it out to Japan that is what I might go for. That and anything from the Japanese Spider-Man TV show. Maybe Voltron as well. Nice win by your Braves last night. The original Space Battleship Yamato anime was remade in a live action movie in 2010 and new anime series in 2012. Most of the current toys are based on the remakes. The grey gashapon is the Dragon Orphnoch from Kamen Rider 555.

I find it funny how you bring up ambassador magma/space giants in the same sentence as astro boy, as they were actually made by the same creator! Legendary manga author osamu tezuka (who also created the guy in my profile picture) 3. you might like to know that mazinger z is actually a franchise from the 70s, one that I think you should really check out along with it's brother series getter robo, they basically invented the concept of having humans piloting robots like planes, although I feel like your family might not like you getting a new interest 4. after the toei spiderman series marvel was actually planning on making shows based on Ms Marvel and Captain america with toei, the latter being a show where cap creates a team of other captains based on other countries; while these ideas fell through, they were combined into the show Battle Fever J, which has some characters that resemble existing marvel characters and was the first power rangers show to have a megazord type robot. So basically, marvel helped create power rangers as we know it now, and dont even get me started on shotaro ishinomori

Thanks for sharing your trip to Japan! It’s always an adventure there. I always try to visit with an empty suitcase lol. If you ever go back, definitely check out the action figure scene in Osaka. There’s also a Gundam museum located in Odaiba where you can see a huge Unicorn Gundam statue! One visit is never enough!

(Btw a way you can fix the pegs on your spider-man mafex figures is by replacing the joints on your mafex figures with the bootleg versions joints that way it shouldn’t cost much and the joints are actually pretty sturdy on those bootlegs!) (also use a heat gun or boiling hot water to take the joints out to swap them And pliers might be the best way to go when getting those things out. P.s just wanted to see if this might fix your problem ,Xiao!
You were very lucky man, my days in Japan were very limited so I didn't really go out of the Chiba area. But even though I didn't get a whole lot, I was satisfied with what I got. They did an SHF of Akira Yamamoto as well and those are the only two to get the SHF treatment.
Such a cool vacation! I can't imagine how amazing it must have been to see all the incredible items Japan had to offer. Still on my bucket list, hopefully one day I'll get to experience Japan. Amazing

Agree - I’m not either - just a couple of specific things (I was telling our guide that is was looking for Yamato stuff and she was like - that’s what my Dad watches!) but everything is so incredible it is just overwhelming!!!
Man Akihabara will always be my favorite place to go toy hunting! Did you ever get a chance to check the Radio Kaiken where the AmiAmi store and the Kaiyodo stores were? That place is my favorite place to check for new figures XD

After seeing that figure I fell in love with mafex action figures. 14:05 And one more thing, you definitely take the number one spot on my top three favorite TH-camr’s.
Happy that you enjoyed your Japan Trip. I just came back on April and when I went to Nakano Broadway, there was a store called the Graveyard Gallery which has a theme every month and sell all sorts of merchandise like t-shirts, and acrylic stands. When I went there in late April, they were doing Gatchaman and they even sold a plastic version of their transformation watch which cost about 9900 yen. I also have that Sh Figuarts Mori Yuki and the other figure in the line is Yamamoto Akira which in the original version is a guy but Akira is so pretty and hot I don't mind the change. I think it is this new art style and the new voice cast that I actually like the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 series more although some purists might said it ruin the classic. But to be honest, the original series was a little hard to get through and the new version improved some things that the old one didn't. There is also an Armor Girl project toyline which has Yuki in a battle armor that resembles the Yamato and it is very cute and awesome at the same time.
You have great taste in vintage 70’s Japanese Toys…….had a question for you:……I never or hardly ever see Macross/Genesis Climber based toys by Gakken, have you seen any of these while in Japan…..?

I didn’t think they were really any cheaper there, but I was mostly at buy-back stores, so those were all pretty valuable ones
