Love your work and your honest attitude. You show that not every project is perfect, but then again, who sets the bar for what is perfect? Keep up the good work, hope to one day have one of your blades here in Norway!
It would but it would have to be welded with 15n20 tig weld which i dont have. If i used a mig weld it would come out looking worse when etched due to the introduction of mild steel to the knife
Just a thought, make it a full flat grind from edge to spine next time? Might have ground through the de-lam while still leaving enough spine thickness to be a sturdy kitchen tool. Great video, and an amazing blade. Be well.
You need to build a few shelves and boxshelves to hold your tools and keep them safe and organized. You may have to reorganize your shop layout but that comes in time. I'm glad to see a young man getting into forging and blacksmithing . Learn to do your high-end woodworking and other skills such as finding wood in your own backyard. Grind out the deamination with a carbide burr. Cut up a nice slice of high carbon steel filler rod and fill it in by TIG. Like you said, it's not for sale but it'll look better and not get junk/rust in there. Sweet knife!
Great looking blade. The delam sucks but since it’s a slicer, maybe hollow grind will make it disappear. I don’t know what size wheels you have but thinking 8-12 inch would do it and leave the spine thickness. Keep at it!
Maybe you could try some weird sanmai with what's left of it? I remember one guy just took all end peaces of his Damascus builds he put on the side, slam them all together and sandwich them with some tooth pattern on the main blade
Another gorgeous knife ! Hope your brother enjoys it! Brisket looks awesome too! Question after you acid dip your knife you say you dip it in a coffee bath is it really just coffee? Hope it’s not a dumb question
Yes it's just coffee. Preferably instant coffee because it mixes with the water better and gives a better finished result in my opinion. I personally use the Walmart brand instant coffee because it's cheap and easily available for me.
Another amazing knife! So awesome that y'all have those family traditions. Check out the video I did on the new clamps for handle scales, they're a game changer my man

He made it in his grill. So im thinking we could get some money together to get a pellet grill and fine tune the little things that are hard to do on a grill. So next year for sure should be a step up
Regarding your comment about using nail polish to coat the knife, please invest in some actual sealer instead! Nail polish yellows and cracks with age, and it would be a shame to have such a beautiful knife ruined because of that
Yes it was just to help ensure that the coffee didnt stain the handle material. I tested out a small piece and noticed it stained it so i had to go that route but i removed it all and give it a coat of wax.
It looks nice but the fact that you didn't fix the delam. No matter who it's for. To me it is not a good thing. The fact that it's for your brother in law and you couldn't be bothered is telling.

Grind in some venting on that side like a commercial slicing knife? I still think it looks great, Really like the color of the scales too.

Bro get some magnets, put on the side of your press and you can put some tooling there
Ill give it a try but the tooling is quite heavy
@@JPsBladeworks I use fairly big magnets ie the ones used to hold stuff at 90° when welding..or flattening a blade..
what is the white powder and what does it do ?
