Beautiful knife I love the pattern - I have built things with my hands all my life and am just getting started in knife building I like watching people like yourself that are also learning. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. I also started by watching others and i still do. Now that i want to get into mosaics im watching makers that make mosaic damascus.
Loved the video! Not only quality work, which is a really good example to beginner/intermediate Bladesmiths but it was really easy to follow with your explanation and camera work.
Glad you enjoyed it
You’re the best, thank you for your videos and comments how you do it, a best teacher for me. Ты лучший!)
Thank you for watching
You make beautiful knives my guy! I’ve been watching your videos for a minute now and I’m still amazed every time I see a new one!
Thank you. I appreciate the kind words
Let me start by saying good work, that's a beautiful knife.
I was a professional chef and have been in the kitchen off and on for 30 years.
There's a couple of things I would like to have seen you do differently, the heel of the blade and the bolster, both for knife control and comfort.
Let's start with the handle, when using a proper pinch grip you have to punch the blade between your index and thumb, and with the handle material that far away from the blade it would be uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time and it would affect my grip on the handle .
The second is the profile of the heel of the blade, you have a curve instead of a sharp right angle, that could lead to instability at the end of a cut and it could throw the chef off enough and make for improper knife cuts.
With those 2 minor changes then I wouldn't have an issue dropping 400-500 on a knife like that
im curious to know whether your qualm with the handle is the length of the bolster, or the shape of the bolster. i would like to start more advanced knifemaking soon and this would help me greatly
I recently found your channel and have just been watching your videos. That’s why I’m behind. You make good knives and are not afraid to take chance. Most knife makers cut those parts out.
Great job buddy 👍👍
Thanks
You're doing some nice work, Sir!
Thank you
Wow! I just watched the cable and copper build and now this one. Beautiful work!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice work. Let the haters hate.
I do. You learn to ignore them after a while of uploading videos.
Nice build. Really nice pattern and I like the fact you admit you’re still learning!! Again nice job!!!
Thanks. I am very much still learning and hope to continue to learn.
I found your channel today and subscribed. I like a lot of different kinds of video's, but mostly of people with a passion for what they do. You may be still learning, but seem to have a knack for forging. Keep working your craft, the more you do the better you will become.
I am a member of a dying profession, I am a watchmaker. Removing dents and polishing old pocket watch cases has taught me a few tricks. There are cylindrical green dental polishing rotary bits (dremel) that may help on area like the bolster before hand sanding. they can flatten areas, talking away high spots and leave a smooth finish. They are relatively inexpensive, especially on ebay.
I'll look into those. I appreciate the info. I think my high school art teacher would appreciate i do art as part of my hobby/new career since all i did was sleep in her class 😅. Im the kind of guy that likes to transform or create new things from other things so this is just up my alley and I enjoy it except the handsanding. My hands hurt. Fortunately the knife making community is a very welcoming community.
Your videos are among my favorite. Nice work!
Thank you. It means a lot that people even take time out of their day to watch my work.
Once again a really beautiful knife, great job and can't wait to see the next build
Thank you for the support. Im glad you like them.
Looks incredible, thanks for the photos of the blade😂
I got ya on those photos from now on 🤣
Looks amazing! You did an awesome job, very beautiful knife.
Thank you
JP beautiful knife man! I know I've commented a bunch on your videos but man you've come a long way since I've been following you. Again awesome job!
Thank you. I appreciate the comments. I hope to keep learning and bettering my craft.
Nice knife. Love that Damascus pattern 👍
Thank you
Very beautiful! They get better and better!👍👍👍
Thank you. I try my best
Brother you are very talented, loved the vide it reminded me of some Ol'skool forging vids.. with excellent instruction and explanation!!! Keep on keep'n
Thanks. Im trying to explain more of what im doing for the guys out there that want to learn or are just curious about whats going in. I know those type of videos help me learn a lot when i first started my knife making journey.
@ 22:33 - i see faces/masks in that amazing pattern!
Now that i went and give it another look i see those faces in it. Kinda creepy ones 😬
That ended up looking great! Nice work.
Thank you
Wow that looks phenomenal
Thanks
Amazing! Really nice work!
Thank you
Keep at it man. Your skills are growing fast. Don’t worry about the haters. Beautiful knife
Thank you. I appreciate it. I dont worry about it. I have thick skin.
Beautiful knife! Well done!
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Awesome work Buddy
Thank you
Beautiful build
Thank you
Great knife, a mallet vid would be awesome :)
Sweet. Now to look up how to make one 😅
You did a great work 👍👍
Thank you
Bro! That's gorgeous!
Thanks
Thats one great looking knife right there
Thanks. Glad you liked it!
Beautiful knife, and you do a great job of explaining what you are doing, and why. I do wonder though, about the method of using wax (and I've seen others use vaseline) on the tang when gluing up the handle material, for later installation. I'd be concerned that the wax/vaseline left in the handle could impede proper adhesion of the handle to the tang. Do you do something to remove the wax from inside the handle, before finally gluing up the tang?
Great question. I dont have a co crete answer. Ive never had a knife handle fall off from using this method or have i heard from another maker that a knife has come loose. Ill definetly ask a few people that use this method more frequently and see what they think.
Dude you made a beautiful knife, well done. It would have been interesting to see the end pattern of the billet on the knife surface; however, its still a beautiful knife. Thanks for making the video, I really appreciated it.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I appreciate you.
Top notch work bro
Thanks
You did very well Brother 🙏❤️
Thank you
I would love to see you make a leather or a cowhide mallet I believe their called!!
im going to look into it. i have a good amount of leather here in my shop that would be perfect for it.
Nice work. I'm also branching out into integral bolster knives. I made a jig out of 3" metal channel and bearings. Works pretty dang good. If your Interested I can try and send ya a pic of mine if you need a reference.
For sure. I would appreciate that.
Real nice pattern 👌
Thanks. I liked how it turned out.
Great work.
Thank you
Love your vids bro. ✊🏻
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Hey dude, that knife turned out beautiful. I loved the video too. How do you like your OBM grinder? Are you happy with it, or do you wish you would have waited for a more expensive machine like an Ameribrade or similar? Just curious because the price tag on OBM's is enticing.
Im happy with it. The price tag is fair. I cant say if the other brands are superior since i havent had a chance to work with them but in my opinion it does everything needed at a great price compared to their competitors. You can always upgrade in the future as well if needed. And they have a good variety of attachments as well. Only thing i dont like is it doesnt have reverse feature on the vdf but im sure that can be added if needed.
@@JPsBladeworks do you happen to have their surface grinding attachment? That's the accessory I'm most interested in 😁.
No, i made my own based on the one Tyrell Knifeworks made. It was more cost-effective. It's like half the price, and i take every penny i can to put back into my videos and buying materials.
@@JPsBladeworks I'll have to check out his surface grinder video. I've seen him use one, I guess I didn't realize he built it. Thanks for the tip! Keep rolling with the videos man, they're looking great! 🤙
Hey JP, I tried looking up "Neo Kamora" as that's how Closed Captioning spelled the name, and I couldn't get any hits. Thank you for your videos - they are a breath of fresh air. Really enjoy your down-to-Earth low stress style of blade making. Do you have a webpage? Would like to look at possibly ordering something for my wife. Thank you mate - ☮
Its Niel Kamimura. The closed captioning is way off. I dont currently have anything in stock but i plan to soon once i get a chance to figure out how to work a web page and sales since im a one man team.
Really really good 👍🏼
Thanks. Glad you liked it
@JPsBladeworks I watch lots of Shurap vids , your methods are similar with new ideas . Much respect to all forgers
@@dougbloom3672 i enjoy his videos myself. The man has great talent and skill.
Nice work brotha! I use a waterfall jig for my integrals 🔪❤️
Thanks. The waterfall jig is the one with the bearings at the end?
Yep…one of the best tools I have bought
@@jcubetube3778 where or what company did you get it from?
Ameribrade
That was amazing! You are growing very fast. I noticed that the voice over had some redundancies. I personally don't mind but if you are willing to write a script I think it would take your content to the next level. Keep up the good work!
I tried writing a script. I find it difficult to do a voice over without sounding extremely fake and monotone. Its something i hope i can get better over time. Thank you for the support 🙏
Very cool
Thanks
I made one just like it last week
I bet the handsanding was fun 😅
New sub here. Great content!
Thank you. I appreciate the support.
I would love to buy that knife please 😮😊😊
Very nice
Thanks
100. Yes. Titanium dioxide. Keeps your nose from burning too. At the beach.
So thats why they always show people with white noses at the beach on tv?
Although I wouldn't recommend spray painting your nose...😉
👍🔥👍🔥👍🔥
🙏
Beautiful figure on the blade
Thank you
What about Vaseline
never used it on a knife
👏👏👏👏👏🤜🤛
🙏
use rusty iron from trash dont use a new ones Sir
Why?
Nice work. Let the haters hate.
