yup im not planning to edit videos when i get my first macbook which will be pro haha i just want a laptop and i dont like the new windows plus i love apple :P
Rehan Haq Well for email and browsing the net, every modern laptop can do it easily. Video editing is very demanding task (as games are) and don't forget, these are vlogers that need to edit videos.
I just picked up my MacBook Pro 15 earlier this week and the battery life has easily gotten me 8 hours of general use as a full-time college student. I think the laptop is absolutely great. Worth it's money? Noooooooo. But besides that, it's a great machine.
Luke C. Russo Thank you sir. Can you please recommend a study laptop and also a gaming laptop? I want a 15.6" display. The example of the game I want is GTA V he he.
4:50 ... 3-4 hours on general computing? web browsing, office, Netflix etc. gives me beyond 8 hours on 70-80% brightness. I know this, because the computer easily lasts me a full day at school with 30-40% left afterwards.
You have something amazing then. I have yet to come anywhere near that close. I am not the only one to say this. Everyone's experience is different but wow 8+ Hours you must have a limited edition model.
Haha I wouldn't have 40% left after 8 hours of usage :D Though 30% lasted me 2 hours today browsing the internet and watching Netflix, so I am one of the "luckier" ones I guess. edit: Not implying your results are wrong :)
+Philip H that's what I mean though. Usage doesn't mean how long it last in between but ACTUAL usage. I just cannot see any model lasting 8 hours "on" while you are working. Or even video playback
After watching 720p video on TH-cam for 25min battery on my 13 Pro dropped only 1% I was stunned. Although keyboard backlight was turned off and screen was on about 40% brightness. But still it's great.
so the problem about no usb ports. it's not a problem if people go out and buy a whole bunch of type-c stuff, like adaptors and flash drives, BUT THAT'S THE WHOLE PROBLEM.
I get 7 to 11 hours battery on my 15" Touch Bar. I use it for pro photography, Photoshop, Lightroom and portrait work tethered to a D810. Battery life is very good. If I had to do heavy video work, I'd be plugged in or using a desktop. This is a PORTABLE machine. Set your expectations accordingly because a powerful desktop is what a pro uses to edit video.
Got it, Danny. But just a note. I have the base 15" Touch Bar and it's outlasting my 2015 retina 15" for battery. So I'm wondering if your specific configuration is just very demanding. I also own the 13" version and get good battery life from that as well. I do hope they bring the SD slot back for the reasons you listed. And yeah, there's no issue at all with the USB-C ports. These are the best notebooks yet from Apple, but always room to make them better.
I have a 15" and my battery (knock on wood) has been giving me 7-8 hours on each charge, which is a welcome upgrade from the 1 hour battery life of my 4 year old PC that I upgraded from. (I generally use the internet, word processing, email, messaging, music). I've charged it 29 times over the past month and when I take it to school I never use more than 20-30% in my classes. I love this thing 👍🏻
Why would buy a 15" MacBook Pro for 'word processing and surfing the web?' You realise they are powerful machines for professionals who need all the horsepower they can get
Well the honest review would me more like, hopefully I can't spot any more differences than enormous trackpad and touchbar you should not use anywhere else than youtube, ahh yea and better display but 2015 model has great display as well, sadly no improvements in terms of cpu power. Actually I think many silver macs users would not upgrade only if we could change our macs color to space grey
Havent got macbook yet but will soon and will be going for the pro without touchbar. I agree with you about the battery at the end of the day its additional electrical thing that just lights up therefore might use more energy lolz :P
Battery life also depends on a lot of other things, for example a i7 15" will eat up 10% more battery than a i5, but a 15" i7 is 25% more consuming than a i5 13". And that's just gpu and screen size, 15" have vents to cool down the gpu but 13" don't, which mean that following the temperature of the gpu the "battery life gain" of a 13" can turn into a battery life loss, etc... Graphic cards can also eat up a lot of power, now Intel HD 640 (i think) is shipped on both the 13" and 15" but there's an additional NVIDIA graphic card in the 15", etc etc..
I can easily get 8-9 hours of battery from my Macbook Pro 15 doing social media, TH-cam video playback, etc. You got a bum unit buddy. Install Battery Health (free app) and check the draw of the unit. I have the 450 and the 455 GPU units and both batteries last forever. Good video Danny.
+Chad Christian wow well I have the 460 and editing video is 1 hour to 1 hour 15 min tops editing 4K with color correction and effects. Standby is good but once the screen comes on if I work even doing thumbnails and writing scripts 4 hours of constant use with the display on is the best I have ever gotten. I hope you are talking about constant use not lasting 8-9 hours in a days time with intermittent use. I am talking about constant use without a break.
Come on man you know me would I talk about it just sitting there lol. Yes constant use I can easily get 8 hours of doing any light / medium type work. Netflix, TH-cam, Social media, surf the web etc.. I get about 5 hours of editing videos with FCP but I don't add heavy effects and color corrections. I am telling you, you have a bad unit if you cannot get 8-9 hours of light to normal style use. Download the app I told you about and let's compare what your usage is looking like.
Ooops nope mostly 1080 60fps. But I am referring to your normal usage more than the heavy lifting. Hey also check out my #1 App You Must Have video. It will shake you to your core man! lol
Ya... some people have had faulty models - that's not uncommon. Some people had keyboard issues, where one side worked well and the other side didn't; others have had graphics issues; and still, others have had heating issues, TouchBar problems, and battery life issues. So this model is kind of bad in that regard.
Keyboard- get used to it USB-C- buy new usb-C stuff Lack of legacy ports - Buy a wireless transfer thing Battery- took months to fix it Already used 2500 USD and still have to do all that? I have a MacPro and love it, but this is just dumb
I've easily reached and exceeded 10hrs of battery life. As in smartphones each user has different experiences based on how they use their devices. I'm completely happy with my MacBook Pro 13' with touch bar.
Great review! I use my machine for software development and video editing and had concerns about performance while editing. You directly addressed that. Thank you!
Yes out of all the dozen or so reviews I have seen, only Western Gents and Danny Winget mentioned any throttling, and the display part is helpful for those that might want two 5k displays, two 4 K displays might be better. You also show that with heavy lifting a 32 GB version would make a lot of sense, while many other reviewers just dismissed that it will ever be needed. Keep up with the honest reviews based on the way you work in the real world, it's refreshing.

apple should bring back the SD Card, put a 99Wh battery, and the MagSafe.
7 ปีที่แล้ว +2
Ow, and bring an actual powerful GPU like the GTX1080. You saw it at Razer, it was driving 3 4k displays with easy while gaming.
Maybe not even the MagSafe, but they certainly should include the SD card slot - what's the point of removing a port that is universally used and for which there's no replacement in sight?
The trackpad of this thing is fantastic. As a writer, I routineously move blocks of text around. The size of the trackpad makes this much more comfortable. The new 13'' MacBook Pro (without the touch bar) is the definitely the best typing machine I've ever had.
I bought a 15" one last week in the gray color & I love it a lot more so far than my old 2011 15" Macbook Pro that it replaced. The retina display looks gorgeous, the overall performance is much better, especially when gaming. I like the much slimmer design & lighter weight & the shallower keys feel better as well. The speakers sound surprisingly great & much better than my 2011's which were too quiet & sounded terrible. The only things I don't like about it are lack of ports like you said in the video & had to buy a few of them including a disc drive, cause I still need it to play old games. Also the big price increase, $700 more than my 2011, but will be worth it if it lasts for at least 6 years like my 2011 did. Overall amazing laptop so far!
the reason that they made the track pad bigger is because they didnt want you to be scrolling and then lift your finger and put it back down at the top to continue scrolling
This makes me think that some of the units are defected or so (there may be software issues also), because my battery seems to be not bad at all: If I'm on MacOS and doing regular stuff (TH-cam, Netflix, Web Browsing, WhatsApp, Mail and Spotify), I literally get 10 hours or even more (if I activate "automatic graphics switching" which normally I keep disabled). If I switch to Windows completely using BootCamp, battery lasts around 4 to 5 hours assuming I'm not gaming. On my most common scenery, I usually get just above 5 hours even with "automatic graphics switching" disabled and Windows 10 on Parallels open as a separate desktop all the time (since I don't care as much about battery life as performance, I always keep discrete GPU active)
This is probably the best review I've seen, I have the MacBook 13" and everybody who reviews it has no real pros. You have really valid points :) Thank you!
You didn’t find any advantages for the trackpad being huge? Wow man I’ve been amazed just for that! I found 0 problems with battery life, 0 problems about charging with a battery pack i mean... If the percentage doesn’t go up it doesn’t mean it’s not charging. You’re just using the charge! The touchbar is amazingly useless but cool anyway (not worth the price) and the magsafe is missing but “dongle madness”? Nope... Just a 20$ dongle gives you more than you will ever need. I used a 3$ dongle just for 1 usb 3.0 and I’m still good after 1 year of a “student use”.
That exactly what I did. I had to buy a new laptop for collage, and my wish was a MacBook, but after all the negative reviews (especially battery-related ones), I decided to go for the surface pro.
That's an excellent review. I will try my best to wait for the refresh because i might buy one soon since my laptop is dying but it's not my main work machine. And love the audio setup
+ozzyleo I have both the 13" and 15". Both are mediocre on battery life. Smaller batteries with heavy work flows equals bad battery life. It's ok though I can always bring a battery pack. Advantages and disadvantages.
love the track pad size. I feel like most people would like it bigger rather than small. I just got my first mac yesterday (2017 mbp) and its got so many gestures that are so much easier to do with the space
It's been now 3 days I have my 2017 13" MacBook Pro with touch bar and the 256 GB config with the standart i5. I was afraid that battery life could suck but I compared it with the MacBook Air from a friend: we worked on the same things so we both used them the same and she drained more battery than me. Also I find the touchbar really great for Pages and using emojis 😎 Also the usb-c port enables me to fast charge the mac with some external battery :)
@8:08. From what I've heard the refresh is coming Q3 2017, and might not be shipped until maybe as late as early 2018. Has anyone heard anything else? I'd really like to get the next model (or maybe a Mac Pro if it's ever gonna get an update) but I've already been waiting forever to get a new computer... I'm gonna use it for music production btw. Any musicians/producers here with an opinion on this?
For basic video editing for youtube any video editing software would be sufficient.. Just to use final cut, using a mediocre machine for rendering 4k would cause you more pain keep up the good work bro
Horrible battery life on these MacBooks. I've tried both the 15 and 13 inch versions and returned them both within a week. Bad year for the MacBook. Hopefully next year fixes this and other issues.
and i hope that rumor about the bigger batteries not being included this year due to engineering issues is true because they might be able to include these bigger batteries this year
+Miguel Yusay what? Apple does not and will not ever make changes like this in only a year... that would be stupid. Actual hardware changes will happen 2 to 3 years later like usual. Only things that will change here is more ram and faster gpu.
neil there was an interview with Phil Schiller (one of the people who presents onstage in Apple keynotes) and he said that the battery technology that they had in store for the new macbook pros were "not ready yet" due to engineering problems, that's why i said i hope that they fix it in this year's refresh
I think they will this time, a change in ram for 16 to 32GB in less than one year is huge, cpu from skylake to kabylake in less than a year is huge, A better gpu in less than one year is huge!!!!!!!! So why not a bigger battery, is that any less or more huge?
Woud you recommend this one to use it as a desktop? Plugged 24/7 to a 1080p screen via hdmi, magic keyboad and bluetooth mouse?. I guess that solves the battery issue, the keyboard, etc. But will performance be affected by using an external screen for photoshop? Or not really noticeable? Thank you for the review! My 15" MBP will arrive this month and I'm pretty pumped to finally leave Windows.
pdmmdk 2009 middle macbook pro. ssd and ram upgrade - still working fluently. Although they try cut off the older macs... they are power machines compared to the other laptops.
I think everyone is forgetting something very important every time they talk about battery life. There's a huge CPU usage difference between watching youtube on chrome vs something like safari.
Previous gen (15" retina) was the best computer they've made. The performance is still amazing (with quad-core, 16Gb Ram and all SSD), HDMI, SD card, USB - all there. Battery holds charge for 3-4 hours. The new one costs $400 more and offers less.
All the positives, in my opinion, are worthless. It has a nice screen? Great, the 2015 already had a sweet screen. It has a nice keyboard? Great, the 2015 already had a sweet keyboard. Its build quality is really nice? Great, the 2015 build quality is really nice. The performance is within 5% of the 2015 models. The Only positive is USB-C ports, which I have no devices for and probably wont for 3 years, so again, worthless to me because ill buy a new machine by then anyway. All of that and I have to lose magsafe, lose battery performance..and pay extra. Its amazing how consumerism drives us because for this price this machine should be close to faultless.
it is apple at the end of the day, they never had anything cheap so why do even people hope for that. their devices are made with good quality and they will always be classic, why ppl are surprised with the prices? I am an average person and i am not surprised with their prices.
First, I'd like to preface this by recognizing the original comment is over a year old. That said, buying a MacBook now is not too much different than it was over a year ago. Older units like the 2015 model are pretty great, so I agree with the sentiment. But to get one in good condition at an affordable price is a headache-and-a-half. They typically end up being some combination of the following. 1. In poor condition. This includes excessive dents, scratches, and overall wear. Couple this with subjective descriptions of quality, and someone's definition of 'great quality' may line up with another's definition of 'poor quality'. And in general, I've found my definition of 'good-quality' is vastly different than that of most sellers. 2. Used (non-refurbished) units can be ticking time bombs. If you've seen any of Luis Rossman's videos, you can see some really poor design decisions made in previous models. Often, at least when buying used, this problems manifest themselves after you purchase the unit. 3. Overpriced. Yes, Apple hardware does tend to last longer and as such, tends to hold its value more. But many people/sellers try to sell their hardware for much more than it's worth. 4. Not the desired configuration. With the last model being user-upgradable being the 2012-model, it can be difficult to find the configuration you want. For example, although I was looking for a MacBook Air, one configuration I've been trying to find is the 2013 11.6" model with the i7 processor and 8GB of RAM. Outside of having to build my own with (overpriced) replacement parts, I've not been able to find one anywhere. 5. The product's description is too vague to pinpoint which model is being sold. I've found that some sellers will intentionally forgo any sort of numbers (clockspeeds, model numbers, etc.) that can be used to identify the MacBook model they are selling. This is often done to trick the buyer into purchasing an older unit than what they are expecting to purchase. There are a few more, but I'm typing this on my phone and really don't want to continue. Buying an Apple product right now is a bit of a conundrum. Either you purchase a new product of questionable value to you and your needs, or you attempt to navigate the used market. It kind of sucks, really. I ended up purchasing a new 2018 MacBook Pro Touch Bar, because trying to get an older model used/refurbished/old stock was simply a pain. I simply couldn't find the configuration I wanted in the condition I was willing to accept at a price I was willing to pay.
I've heard from multiple sources that if you put the Macbook Pro 15 under heavy load - such as a challenging game - the battery will actually start discharging even though the laptop is hooked up to AC power (The only source where I can remember the GPU had the top option, the 460). Has that ever happened to you?
You definitely have a bad unit. I also have the 15" 460 MBP. I get 10-12 hours of battery life constantly (of general usage) with mine, and yes I'm talking about "screen on" time not intermittent use. The first day with it, I updated it to the latest version. I started using it at 8:45am and finished at around 11:50pm. "Time on battery" clocked in at 15 hours and 10 mins that day and I had 20% remaining. I know that "time on battery" include also counts when it has the lid closed on the Activity Monitor app. I only stopped using it for about 4 hours that day, so you do the math. I even had to post an Activity Monitor screenshot of my usage to reddit (where others also reported similar results to mine) because I have been extremely pleased with my unit. I'm right now at 97% (unplugged an hour ago, multiple tabs, iTunes, activity monitor, ms office, pdf expert and other apps open with another video playing in the background) with 12 hours and 54 min remaining. Maybe you just use it with 100% screen brightness at all times or something (I have mine to adjust automatically). Your case is definitely the exception, after the 10.12.3 update others have been reporting battery stats similar to mine. You should definitely exchange yours. Nevertheless, great review, keep it up.
+Moderate M wow props to your unit. Glad you are having that type of battery life. I know tons of people who have the same spec MacBook Pro I have and have never even seen half that battery life. Even Apple only claims 10 hours of battery life lol
Lol, I can't say I was that surprised since they have a history of under-promising and over delivering when it comes to battery life ala MacBook Air and 2015 13" MacBook Pro. :p
Have been using MacBook Pro with touch bar for 4 months. It's incredibly smooth and it's Damn fast. Has a good looking design with thin portable body. The adapters didn't really bother me but some times it can be frustrating. The graphics aren't that bad, It can handle many games like Minecraft or even dota. But if you are a gamer you should look for something like Razer. Overall it's a great fast laptop with great features that can get your work done. Recommend to buy it!
Why did you switch from the imac 5k to the macbook Pro? Was it the i7 4,0ghz one? Just asking, because I am currently undecided if I should get an iMac 5k fully specd out or the Macbook Pro.
Your battery problem is related to the brightness of the screen. Most people Franck up the brightness on their computer because why not? That's been the standar with any laptops before. This thing is so bright that it'll eat out battery like crazy, but you DONT need to have the brightness all the way up. Lower it to half and you'll see a huge difference in battery life.
I'm about to get the 15 inch MacBook with the AMD 450 - my main concern is if it has enough power to use it with a 4K LG Display and apps like Photoshop and Premiere. Will it run smoothly?
if you're going to protect the surface with a skin then how easy is it to remove the skin when you want to sell the machine? And would it leave any residue? Cos it would be no good trying to preserve the look of the machine if in one go you're going to change it completely forever
But all I get here is that you DO need a lot of accessories for it to work like a much more affordable PC laptop without any add-ons and much higher specs. So what gives?
However, the battery life can be improve a lot with the new update (I am in the beta). if you just uses the Mac for daily browsing, 10 hrs is guaranteed.
I just bought a 13inch w/ touchbar and I get like 8 hours or so. I have not once thought that the battery was draining too fast. Maybe this is a random software issue that apple needs to fix?
+Alen Peric no real bugs with the touchbar. Battery life has improved slightly but no where near what these people are saying in the comments. I am still saying 3-4 hours of continuous use for the 15" and 5-6 hours on the 13"
What's up with all reviews being aimed at video editors. Not all Mac/PC users are youtubers! Most people don't edit videos
yup im not planning to edit videos when i get my first macbook which will be pro haha i just want a laptop and i dont like the new windows plus i love apple :P
Rehan Haq Well for email and browsing the net, every modern laptop can do it easily. Video editing is very demanding task (as games are) and don't forget, these are vlogers that need to edit videos.
Yep, the software development community is mute on the matter
Yes, but they assume that most of the demographic that will buy the MBP is a professional looking for a workhorse.
Actually, video editors are the loudest. Macs work very well for s/w developers. I wish I could do reviews for devs.
I just picked up my MacBook Pro 15 earlier this week and the battery life has easily gotten me 8 hours of general use as a full-time college student. I think the laptop is absolutely great. Worth it's money? Noooooooo. But besides that, it's a great machine.

the new aero 15 looks nice
I think it's too expensive for us. We can find better than macbook.☺😊

Blame Intel - it's their motherboard ffs - same as all other brands - move on...
Bought a mid 2015 15inch and I like it.
Can you still buy new 2015 Macbooks? Or the only option you got are used ones?
I get 7 to 11 hours battery on my 15" Touch Bar. I use it for pro photography, Photoshop, Lightroom and portrait work tethered to a D810. Battery life is very good. Robert Brody Is this worth it for a college student like me? Please reply. Thank you.
Depends on you needs. The 15" may be overkill for you. The 13" is also a solid choice and frankly, even a MacBook Air is a solid pick for a student.
Bea Dacut I tried it out. It's pretty good if you want short cuts, more processors but the downside is you have to use dongles if you want usb or card
Finally! An intelligent review that honestly weighs pros, cons of the machine while recognizing the actual peripheral market! Well done Danny!

The good overcomes the bad? I couldn't keep a product that I see it has issues when it costed me $2,000 USD. But that's just my opinion.
Great honest review...
Thank you!

Very helpful!
alexander ekin nope as his battery life is way out as most users get a least 8 hrs
I've got the 13 mbp without touchbar and I get 10 hours for sure. Guess touchbar kills it
Havent got macbook yet but will soon and will be going for the pro without touchbar. I agree with you about the battery at the end of the day its additional electrical thing that just lights up therefore might use more energy lolz :P

+Mauricio Rossato well if you have a MacPro that's fine but can't take a Mac Pro on a plane and edit videos. Different people different usage :)
Of course, I mentioned the Macpro to show I like Apple products, but this ain´t one of them.
Can you provide the link where to buy that wifi transfer device thingy. :-)

I don't understand what was all the fuss neither. I really like the 13-inch version with Touch Bar. Good video!
Probably one of the best reviewers I have seen for the Macbook Pro. Thank you for your time, I'm glad I came across this!
Great review! I use my machine for software development and video editing and had concerns about performance while editing. You directly addressed that. Thank you!
Dude the shots outside were killer! Great video man :)
+Mark Linsangan thanks Brother!
Basically, the next gen is gonna be the one to buy!
nope 😂
Great overview of the machine. Appreciate that you were super authentic and unflinching on the actual review. Subscribed up!
i'll wait for the refresh. thanks for the review. I like your findings on hooking up the displays and throttling issues.
Ow, and bring an actual powerful GPU like the GTX1080. You saw it at Razer, it was driving 3 4k displays with easy while gaming.
So basically just an upgraded 2015 model
John Smith basically. Just change the USBs and Thunderbolt 2 to the new USB-C/TB3 combo. Keep everything else.
Maybe not even the MagSafe, but they certainly should include the SD card slot - what's the point of removing a port that is universally used and for which there's no replacement in sight?
Geffá Oliveira that requires a 17 inch laptop which they no longer make
The trackpad of this thing is fantastic. As a writer, I routineously move blocks of text around. The size of the trackpad makes this much more comfortable. The new 13'' MacBook Pro (without the touch bar) is the definitely the best typing machine I've ever had.
Good Job Danny. As always you are on point.
Where did you get the black magic keyboard and trackpad?
www.colorware.com/ probably
Definitely getting this monster and with that large screen monitor thingy that’s really great.
Can u compare this to the Dell xps 15 9560? It should be honest an review
How's your battery life?
Give us some updates please !!!
I have the 13” and I’ve used it all day for studying exams and when I was done it had 25% battery. The 13” battery is amazing
the reason that they made the track pad bigger is because they didnt want you to be scrolling and then lift your finger and put it back down at the top to continue scrolling
This was the most unbiased review I've watched.
This makes me think that some of the units are defected or so (there may be software issues also), because my battery seems to be not bad at all:
If I'm on MacOS and doing regular stuff (TH-cam, Netflix, Web Browsing, WhatsApp, Mail and Spotify), I literally get 10 hours or even more (if I activate "automatic graphics switching" which normally I keep disabled).
If I switch to Windows completely using BootCamp, battery lasts around 4 to 5 hours assuming I'm not gaming.
On my most common scenery, I usually get just above 5 hours even with "automatic graphics switching" disabled and Windows 10 on Parallels open as a separate desktop all the time (since I don't care as much about battery life as performance, I always keep discrete GPU active)

is it just me or is the shade of space grey on the led/hinge, different shade to the unibody ?
randomrazr that's always been the case...
i thought its suppose to be a single space grey color all around? the macbooks are suppose to have 2 shades of space grey?
Excellent video Danny, smooth and well made
Best review i have seen! Most of reviewers just hate it for views
This is probably the best review I've seen, I have the MacBook 13" and everybody who reviews it has no real pros. You have really valid points :) Thank you!
OPL its the most biased anti Mac reveiw ever that battery life for example is nonsense as I know most people get 7-8 hrs
You did a great job with this. Thanks for taking the time.
Probably best reviewer, everything is on point
love the new video style. Thanks for all the amazing content!
Nice review thanks man 👍😊
hello..MacBook Pro 13" can working well with final cut pro X?
because Macbook pro 13" i5 not i7 [Ram8gb not 16gb]
flame drop or not?
Such a great and honest review. I subscribed! 🤗
I appreciate this long term review. I just subscribed.
I wanted the new MacBook Pro. However, the battery issue is a deal breaker for me...Sorry Apple, going for a Surface Book....
ipad 4arab there is a beta update for it. And the book is pretty bad in battery life.
Davis Jolley he said surface Book, not surface pro.
ipad 4arab You can still get 2015 macbook with much longer battery life!
Read the comments, the battery is just fine.
Sorry to break it to you, but I don't need to read the comments when I had a bad experience with it already
Have you had any keyboard issues?
Great video again man thanks for the content! Appreciate the help on the purchasing decision. I'm waiting on this one.
Thanks for the info on the battery life. So honest
awesome videos brah. keep up with the great work
That exactly what I did. I had to buy a new laptop for collage, and my wish was a MacBook, but after all the negative reviews (especially battery-related ones), I decided to go for the surface pro.
this review is pretty damn accurate. Def on the battery life issue and touch bar.
That's an excellent review. I will try my best to wait for the refresh because i might buy one soon since my laptop is dying but it's not my main work machine.
And love the audio setup
Thanks Danny for this straight forward review, you helped me to make my mind! 👍
I think u might have a faulty unit my new MacBook Pro 15" gets around 7-8 hours of general use.
Great video dude, love the honesty :)
+Ash Tailor (ashthought) thanks for watching lol. Must hurt your eyes haha
Lol, shut up. I could listen to you talk all day. Especially when you're on an electric skateboard!
It's been now 3 days I have my 2017 13" MacBook Pro with touch bar and the 256 GB config with the standart i5.
I was afraid that battery life could suck but I compared it with the MacBook Air from a friend: we worked on the same things so we both used them the same and she drained more battery than me.
Also I find the touchbar really great for Pages and using emojis 😎
Also the usb-c port enables me to fast charge the mac with some external battery :)
Download the beta software. It fixes battery.
Amir A too late. All ready returned 2 Macbook Pro.
Great video! It is one of the best macbook pro reviews I've seen yet :)
+HLP .Theo thank you!
Your feedback sounds quite honest. Thanks (y)
Great Job. Very usefull info for taking a buy decision
For basic video editing for youtube any video editing software would be sufficient..
Just to use final cut, using a mediocre machine for rendering 4k would cause you more pain
keep up the good work bro
Tigerex966
Because none of that requires a physical space change and its not huge what so ever, lol.
Man these new MacBooks are a whole lot of Nopes. Save your money.
justaman that his only his opinion most people do not edit video
Really brilliant video. Thanks for sharing.
Still running the 2012 pre-retina 15" MBP. It looks like it's 5 months old.
Ay your shirt!!! Respect for your taste. Spread the love. RIP Jay Deeeeeee.. Also, great review!
I have a MacBook Pro, It seems great. Specially with the light-up keyboard, with the easy-access touchbar and the Retina display
The touchbar is like the 3d touch on the iPhone, give it a couple updates, then is's gold!
That satechi adapter sadly failed after a couple of days
rocking my late 2013 13 inch macbook pro...such a dope machine. Personally, I don't need anything better..it's ideal even after 3,5 years
pdmmdk 2009 middle macbook pro. ssd and ram upgrade - still working fluently. Although they try cut off the older macs... they are power machines compared to the other laptops.
I think its best to wait for the Early 2017 edition
I think everyone is forgetting something very important every time they talk about battery life. There's a huge CPU usage difference between watching youtube on chrome vs something like safari.
Previous gen (15" retina) was the best computer they've made. The performance is still amazing (with quad-core, 16Gb Ram and all SSD), HDMI, SD card, USB - all there. Battery holds charge for 3-4 hours. The new one costs $400 more and offers less.
Nice review, what bluetooth keyboard do you use?
CardinalHijack you do realize the new MacBook Pro have a big ass trackpad that fits a IPhone 7 plus right?
it is apple at the end of the day, they never had anything cheap so why do even people hope for that. their devices are made with good quality and they will always be classic, why ppl are surprised with the prices?

What keyboard are you using? Seems really cool
great vid... speaker voice is awesome & very clear
Your battery problem is related to the brightness of the screen. Most people Franck up the brightness on their computer because why not? That's been the standar with any laptops before. This thing is so bright that it'll eat out battery like crazy, but you DONT need to have the brightness all the way up. Lower it to half and you'll see a huge difference in battery life.
wish I could try it ...
Mostafa Osama go to the Apple Store!
nice video, may i ask whats ur monitor ? looks good
What adapter did you first show? The one that uses a single USB C connection, gives you it back, and 2 USB 3's and the SD card?
I'm about to get the 15 inch MacBook with the AMD 450 - my main concern is if it has enough power to use it with a 4K LG Display and apps like Photoshop and Premiere. Will it run smoothly?
if you're going to protect the surface with a skin then how easy is it to remove the skin when you want to sell the machine? And would it leave any residue? Cos it would be no good trying to preserve the look of the machine if in one go you're going to change it completely forever
Glad I found you, great content and a very nice review, just bought the newest one, I really hope I'll like it :)
i think that they shouldn't change the amount of ports but they should include at least a basic adapter in the box
But all I get here is that you DO need a lot of accessories for it to work like a much more affordable PC laptop without any add-ons and much higher specs. So what gives?
Double your storage with the SD slot? Whoa, I do not know much about computers but can you please explain how to do that?
John Ive: What shall we do for the next update?
Tim Cook: Create problems, Let's sell the solutions for it?
However, the battery life can be improve a lot with the new update (I am in the beta). if you just uses the Mac for daily browsing, 10 hrs is guaranteed.
Your display cable broken now?
danny sir can you please tell which are you using for b rolls. thankyou for your reply
I just bought a 13inch w/ touchbar and I get like 8 hours or so. I have not once thought that the battery was draining too fast. Maybe this is a random software issue that apple needs to fix?
Awesome review! Did the battery life improve at all with the recent MacOS updates for you? Also did you run into any bugs with the touch bar?
+Alen Peric no real bugs with the touchbar. Battery life has improved slightly but no where near what these people are saying in the comments. I am still saying 3-4 hours of continuous use for the 15" and 5-6 hours on the 13"
Very interesting! Was gonna go for the 15 inch but maybe 13 is the better option if that is the case...
Or do you think I should wait for the Kaby Lake update?
That flashdrive is 128gb!!! In 2004 I was walking around with a 16mb flashdrive feeling good about myself.
