Years ago I bought a Peugeot 406 1.9 TD from memory I think it was the XUD engine with 140,000 miles on it and it was a little smokey now and then. The only thing that improved it was Millers Diesel Plus, I used to double dose it on fill up. It reduced the smoking good enough to pass the MOT and I ran that on all sorts, veg oil, paraffin and basically anything oil based. It had the Bosch rotary distribution pump, no HDI. The Bosch system would handle the thicker fuel oil but the Lucas pumps would break the rotors. Ran that car up to 200,000 plus miles, still going strong when I traded it. Millers worked for me, never had any luck with Redex or Wynns.
That brings back memories. I fitted a Bosch pump to one of my XUD 306 D-Turbos back in the day. The Bosch was better for turning up the fuel pressure, but the Lucas could be done too. I had one with the fuel turned up and the boost turned to 19psi which was the safe limit for the standard top mount intercooler. I’ve still got the intake off an XUD Xantia somewhere. I took it to fit a front mount to the d-turdo but I fucked it off for a Volvo V70 T5 before I ever got round to doing it, and lent the Pug to a mate who wrote it off. I’ve still not been paid for it either 15 years later 🙄
Them old XUD engines were bulletproof, could get a bit smokey as they got towards the 150,000 miles but would go to the moon and back. Lost plenty of skin working on the buggers, especially when changing the heater plug behind the diesel pump and that cambelt cover bolt you couldn't quite get to. Them were the days. 🤣🤣🤣@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos
@@DARTraderMediaProductions yea the old swirl chamber indirect injection that needed the heater plugs to start even when they were hot! They were pretty shit job to do clutch on, they had a stupid pull clutch arrangement which meant you had to take the bush out of the clutch fork before pulling the box, but they used to seize up and break.
Uses Millers ecomax for years in lots of diesel cars, not much increase in mpg but definitely more power and torque, runs smoother but I also don't use supermarket fuel,I could pull a 5 berth touring caravan uphill in 6th gear, without the Millers I always has to drop to 5th gear.
I put this in my x6 every couple of months. Can't say I notice a difference at all but for £2.50 when its on offer in Tesco every now and again I reckon it's not doing any harm and possibly keeping the engine a little cleaner
I had a cooper diesel that was a bit spluttery. Ran some of this through and it did seem to work. The idle roughness defintely calmed down. I know some people claim snake oil but I also had an exhuast pressure sensor warning on my Merc. Chucked in some dpf cleaner and warning gone.
I think some are snake oil and some are good. The stuff I recently tried on my bmw has worked great, check out my most recent video from last weekend if you’re interested in seeing it
I used this on a megane mk3 😢 Had an intermittent injection fault when on motorway... After using this redex I had to replace injector because it cleaned all the grot out of fuel lines and completely blocked the filter in the injector.... expensive lesson learned... but now all filters changed and use it regularly to keep system running smoothly.. car now on 230k miles
@@damianstrudley2265 in the past I’ve had it work and not work. It cured bad diesel knock on an old transit once, but on my BMW I started getting low fuel pressure fault after using it but I’m not sure it wasn’t just a coincidence

Maybe. It does sound like a rattling DMF or dual mass pulley, but as far as I’m aware it hasn’t got a DMF on these. The sound seems to be coming from the aux belt tensioner which is flicking around quite a bit, probably just waiting on throw the aux belt into the timing belt cover 😬
Sad how we allowed ourselves to be deceived into believing diesel engines are great. This is the only country on earth where diesel costs more that’s petrol. Remember the Gordon Brown speech?
@StupidBlokeStupidVideos but it's not a fair test if you don't allow it to run through the injectors and let it do it's job. Appreciate the video though.
I filled up with shell diesel v power and put a bottle of carlube diesel injector cleaner just for good measure last week and i swear the engine is far quieter i could hear the injectors before but i noticed this morning and the morning before that theere was no noise buzzing me tits off with that
