Oblivion Hairstyles - An Overview

- Oblivion hairstyles are some of the strangest that I have seen in any RPG, and they have unintentionally become one of the most memorable aspects of the character aesthetics in game.

Yes, I grouped orcs with the elves. What are you gonna do about it?
Well, they are orsiMER. So, you're not wrong
Agree with you becasue you're right, they're OrsiMER for a reason 😌
The Altmer are in SHAMBLES
They're both mer races anyway. Gotta thank Trinimac and Boethia for that.
They're technically elves.
My personal head canon for the Altmer hair was they were having a bad case of hat hair after taking off their Colovian Fur Helms.
"Listen, we're called High Elves right? Our height is tall. Our towers are tall. What if...our *hair* was also tall?"
Oblivion's Character Creation is unironically one of the most (intentionally & unintentionally) endearing gaming memories from my pipsqueak days. Nostalgia (for simpler times)
Don't forget! There's a secret hairstyle worn by the mothpriests that's reminiscent of a chonmage, which was basically *the* samurai hair cut.
They show up like that every week to our elder scrolls reading club
@@Angelikatosh You'd think someone would have made a Braille Elder Scroll. But maybe that one burns off your fingertips.
@@Angelikatosh Have you considered seeing if they're available on Kindle? If not, have you considered using an Elder Scroll to make it so they always were available on Kindle?
@@adamfoxton6341I'M DYING LMAO
Every time I see a soft serve ice cream cone I get reminded of the adoring fans hair
When I was around 9 in 2008, I was so into this game, and the windswept braids became my every day hairstyle and I felt so, so damn whimsical 😭
My first ever oblivion abomination, April the wood elf, you mean so much to me 😭
I am sure you were ❤ that sounds adorable.
DUDE, YES! Playing Oblivion when it came out is what inspired me to grow my hair out, and I used to wear my hair in the "windbraids" style from the game for ages. x3
Really happy that the Adoring Fan haircut is in Baldurs gate 3
Orsimers might not have a province to call their own, but between hairstyles and armors, they have the one thing the rest of Tamriel desperately need: fashion sense.
PREACH.
Thumbnail game is on point. Oblivion had a thing for making people look like onion heads.
Yes, I got the impression that Cyrodiil has a very cosmopolitan culture. So it would make sense that hairstyles and clothing reflect this.
That's what I always chalk it up to. That and everyone's high/light voices (I'm thinking dunmer, and all the male orcs and nords who sound like your beloved favourite uncle).
Hoitytoity high fashion capitol people.
Would you consider doing a video on the foods of Skyrim/Oblivion. Or maybe even the architecture/furniture
An entire video dedicated to cheese wheels.
What you said about Orc hairstyles is so true! They're not only prettier and distinct but also provide a lot of characterization for them. I was quite upset at the lack of long flowing elven locks, but I can appreciate the wacky hairstyles now.
Little things like these aren't talked about enough! Thank you for your work!
Great take on a really underrated way the devs try to get a point across. I agree the hairs are lackluster, but at least the little windswept stuff seems to call to the Cloudruler Temple stuff - almost like the game artists saw concepts for everything and thought "ooh that's something exotic we can draw on".
One thing is for sure, like you said, even Oblivion gives more variety of hairstyles than your average street corner IRL.
By the nine divines.
You can say that again
The gestapo thalmor is coming for you
@@zulazhar1259 The thalmor is the gestapo and SS and the nazi political party in one organization technically
We're all talking about Oblivion hairstyles.
But no-one speaks about Oblivion beardstyles.
because only sheogorath is allowed to have a beard
well. a real beard. miss me with the scruff.
They be posting long bearded wizards on posters and books when the beardest person is only some blue fades on their cheeks and jaw.
beard styles? oh you mean *adjusts beard sliders* *character's skin turns blue*
truely beard, of time
One of my favorite Oblivion creations was a pretty realistic character. She was a Breton named Chari LeMonde. She had mi-long auburn hair and realistic facial features. On the flipside...well, I had an Imperial character named Honker Nez whose face was approximately 50% nose.
Time to whip ma hair back and horizontally
"Let's start with the Imperials"
Shows a Nord character on the screen 😮
Ha well spotted! I mixed up the clips when editing, and I have no gold to pay the fine
@@Angelikatosh No worries! I find it interesting that in this game I can actually tell apart the human ethnicities, unlike in Skyrim, where everything is a bit more homogeneous
No see, this is actually a hint toward the deep lore that the Imperials and the Nords are effectively originally the same race, as they both descend from the Nedes of Atmora. The Imperials are just the Nedes that settled in Cyrodiil and the Nords are the Nedes that settled in Skyrim.
@@acornman17you missed out on taking her into prison
10:30 that's so true, you can even tell the area of the country or social class sometimes, at least here in Britain where that's still a fairly prominent thing.
Maybe a video on Oblivion jewellery would be really interesting, plenty of pretty unique rings and amulets. My favourite being the Talisman of Abetment from the shivering isles
She did.
Part of her "clothing of oblivion" episode.
I'm really happy you're covering things like ordinary clothing, town banners and now, hairstyle. A lot of creators focus on the history, and the mythology behind the ES, but its the things like this that make a world feel lived in.
I liked how millitary was just a hippie bandanna.
Kind of reminded me of a 1980s guerilla fighter.
Mankar Camoran? The author of the the hit novel "Avatar", featuring Blue Khajiits rising up against Dwemer Occupation?
Uh oh. A bot this early in her career? You scammers are friggin sharks.
I'm so glad someone is making videos like these, critiquing oblivion in such a unique way. When it's all done it'd be great to have this video as a long form supercut!
I am SOOO happy your channel is taking off so quickly, your creativity, passion, and approach are an inspiration. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us in the future. Поздрави от сестра от България, прекрасна Анджелика!
Pelinal approved 👍
The weirdness of Oblivion is iconic by now. Love it. Keep going.
that Irish hairstyle is a glib it's hundreds of years old
I do love the balding friar tuck haircut, it's top tier next to the whippy dip elf hair
Ngl, was hoping to see you with a wild oblivionesque haircut on the thumbnail once I saw it lmao.
Consistent videos, consistent growth. Be blessed by the Nine!
Seeing the character creator again made me look up and realize that Wilburgur's iconic, but questionably named character Autism Cat was created about six years ago. Time flies.
Bosmer with leaf's/flowers or other nature things used as hair accessories is an idea I need to see realized. I'd also love to see more clothes from outside whatever province the games take place in. For example a merchant or character that is visiting the Cyrodil from Skyrim could be overdressed and have dialogue complaining its too hot. While a traveler from Blackmarsh could be wearing something more simple and short so it doesn't get dragged in the marshes, but end up in Bravil cold and underdressed. Just more stuff to show off the individuality and cultures of the other races.
Oblivion for all its many faults; is perhaps the most timeless of all the TES games. Its just such an unique vibe that will never ever be made again. Its so genuine and so hard to take seriously at the same time (with big exceptions in key moments); its just a genuinly great experience
yay! I’m always excited when I see your videos show up in my subscriptions!
I remember struggling to find a decent hair style. Probably part of why I usually played Argonian
I really think Bethesda was going for a Sims 2 thing
I thought I was the only one that noticed that
@@Angelikatoshyeah Oblivion is like Sim 2 and LOTR had a child (which is why i love it)
I love these videos you've been making, clothing and hair etc is exactly the type of stuff I pay weirdly much attention to in video games!
You're quickly becoming one of my favorite TH-camr ! Keep Going 🤘🏻🔥
very entertaining content! I'm so glad I got recommended this channel
I enjoy how the intro is leading further and further into blindness, i hope in a future video you’ll begin with a literal blindfold on lol
another epic classic elder scrolls video, thanks for making and sharing!
“Be seeing you” haha love it, keep up the quality content girl! Love your takes!
I love your videos sm. You touch on all the things no one ever does
This is what we all need. Fashion Scrolls IV. High elves were onto something.
Damn ❤ you are a busy Bee!
Another banger out so quickly 😊
Love how you move one of the sliders and then everything changes 😭
"My eye doctor told me to stop, but he's just a hater"
Love it!
Another amazing video thx for giving us good content ❤
Great videos. You really are bringing back my love of Oblivion. The character creation of TES 4 is so unique and weird in the best way possible
Love the video! Can’t wait to see the armor style documentary lol
I didn't knew I needed a oblivion hairstyles video. But I love everything about this
this video was a treat! muchas gracias por cubrir este tema
Aquí estoy para aumentar la obsesión que tiene la comunidad con estos juegos 😅🥳 gracias amigaaa 🫶🥰
Very cool videos makes me wanna jump start an oblivion series I’ve had the back burner.
I really like the many pictures you use when explaining things…ya keep doing that
I love your takes so much!, Makes me want to learn to mod so I can expands thos styles.
you are sooo beaultiful❤ I always use the cropped haircut for oblivion
Thanks for the new video !!!😊 👍👍👍
Never played attention to these topics when playing but heck u make this super interesting and you can tell you're passionate about this ✨
also you look so gorgeous
Windbraid was my favorite hairstyle. Go to
Excellent information for the next time i make a new character
Funnily enough, the barber I go to usually does the same hairstyle you mentioned for most of their customers. I usually just get a generic trim to make it short when it gets too long.
I think it's really cool that you mention other creators
i'm a simple person. i see the adoring fan, i click.
I like the editing.
Mesmerized by those eyes to learn all the TES lore through these vids
It's been a long time since I last played Oblivion and seeing all the art work pop really reminds how good the hand drawn art looks. The skill and race art just has a really nice colour palette and style, it's very iconic.
I always use the stick twist hair. I wish they’d let you use any hair you want tho
It would be cool if, in the new game, each group had it's own unique culturally specific hairstyle that you could unlock for your character by doing side quests and gaining local favour.
I'm slightly disappointed you didn't give yourself the onion hair for the thumbnail!
Honestly though even though the character creator was a little goofy you can't argue they didn't put the effort in for the era it came out. I'd forgotten they had a hair length slider, even most modern games don't do that (although I think that may be partly due to the way hair cards are set up in more recent games?)
Never forget Oblivions most iconic hair style.. The elven giant ice cream cone
you narration and editing remind me so much of the early days of Wendigoon
To be honest the only hairstyle I ever wore in oblivion is the military one, because I figured if I'm gonna use a hood the whole game then what's the point?
I don't know how to donate on the VODs of the livestreams if its not live. So this is for Cheetos adventures part 4, even though this video is also pretty good.
Aw thanks man that’s too kind. Glad you’re enjoying the streams!! ♥️
new fav elder scrolls channel
We got models making random elder scrolls videos on the TH-cam - what a time to be alive 🎉 great vid
I always go for full-length wind braids--and the length slider does make a difference there.
Reminder to not burn yourself out
I've never thought about it like that, but I totally agree with you about hairstyle following fashion trends. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it totally makes sense
Here in Argentina, a few years ago, you would easilly tell who was argentinian, chinese, bolivian or peruvian by their hairstyle, but now a days almost everyone uses the same hairstyle
I remember always using the ponytail or windswept hairstyle
Man I love oblivion. Been so long since I’ve played
omg u have an amulet of kingsss i want one
Ohh my god this game was part my teenage years.
Thanks for reminding me.
I always took the 'military' hair or whatever it was called, with the bandana, for my breton warmage.
Polish guys in Poland also wear the same haircut so it's not just Ireland specific fashion but who knows maybe it came from Polish immigrants coming back to Poland from Ireland in Poland with Irish hairstyle and it grew popular in Poland. Ireland
I gave Polish as a general example, but really any other Europeans/others that come here end up getting all the same hairstyles , they eventually develop the same accent too - so you can’t tell them apart from Irish lads! 😅
@@Angelikatosh No I get you but imo the problem is bigger the men just lack originality in fashion anywhere you go
Maybe you should do a tour of Cyrodils citys and comment on the fashion. Also if you you ever get daggerfall unity go through some of the outfits there are some wild options plus you can layer a lot of clothes for interesting results.
The very first character I made for Oblivion actually looked quite good. I think it was because I was in a hurry, so I didn't change too many settings. Unfortunately my skill selection was awful. Every character I tried to make after the first looked like a mutant, I suspect because I was trying too hard.
Love your videos! And you are absolutely gorgeous by the way! ❤
Its so weird that i'm back watching oblivion vids. The nostalgia... And then you make morrowind and soon wow game vids as well. Did i step into a time portal?
I saw the thumbnail and started laughing hysterically at the NPC hairstyles. Oblivion had the goofiest hairstyles, but I suppose that's one of the main things that makes this game endearing. Thanks for making these videos! I like how you're diving into topics most folks didn't think to talk about.

For some reason that transition in particular killed me. We go from the illustration of a young, good looking and slim elf to a big old square 😂
Awww the shade to the Irish lads 😂 love it
And love your videos ❤
The elven hair in oblivion reminds me of troll dolls hair
Got to say I was hoping to see you attempt some of the more insane ones yourself
Internet make me regret to use Oblivion Character Overhaul
Where do you get your tops?? Casual medieval made modern vibe i NEED (and the amulet of kings you’re #1 on my rob list ♡)
"They still find things to nitpick over" Ahh yes, Looksmaxxing in Oblivion, because the internet is going to internet XD
you should try doing a daggerfall clothing review
My first character on oblivion was widefaced balding dunmer oh and he was also rogue with little magic mix
I love the hair slider and I miss it in other games. Oblivion having been one of my earliest obsessions I think it impacted how I see other games
