Getting these down today, figured out: Once you’re about to get on, shift your head and hips over the nose, helps a lot with getting all of your weight where it needs to be. Hope this helps someone out there :)
I remember when I first started skating - it seemed all the “trick tip” videos consisted of 1. Learn this trick and 2. Learn this trick! And 3. There you go!! Thank Will for really putting in the effort and giving true insight towards landing each of the tricks you teach
@@alexsurh1472 I did this doing a simple nose stall earlier lol. Front wheels went way over coping and I looped and slammed my back on the ledge. Good start to the day
while my BS noseslide AFTER A YEAR of trying 2days/week is not too bad (i just wish i could slide longer than 2s), frontside noseslide seems impossible, literally. i don't understand how to not get stuck immediatly after you 'lock in'. meanwhile my friend who skates almost the same amount of time as me **heelflip frontside noseslide half the ledge** and learning how to noseslide the whole ledge took him only like 2 months...
I tried these on Monday both FS and BS but my BS ones I kept slipping out and almost hurt myself but siding really easily, I stuck it out with the FS ones instead because I could catch myself from falling easier and got a half decent one to fakie but not much of a slide. It only took me about 20 minutes to get one I was fairly happy with considering I'd never tried focusing on them properly. I'll definitely be focusing more BS ones next time though
I find it easier to lock into nose and tail slides with independent trucks. The wheels drag across the side of the ledge less, the base plate sticks out further
For some reason Fs nose slides are easier for me than Bs nose slides. I always go in to a board slide when I try a Bs nose slide. But I think trying to go more straight to the ledge might help me to lock-in. So thank you for the tips!!!!
Someday can you please do a tutorial on noseslide flip outs? (Kickflip or heelflip). Wondering how to get enough pop from the noseslide to actually flip the board. Thanks
Andres Forero you have to push your tail down to get a decent pop out. Just practice it in stall first to get the movement down. I think the sliding process makes it more scary, so you gotta commit...
A major part that I can’t seem to figure out is getting my front foot to switch from being angled (like mid-ollie) to flat and on top of the nose. My front foot just wants to stay angled the whole time.
I am having a little bit of trouble pushing the nose down I the grind it feels weird because I am regular and I am pushed my left foot down. Does anyone have any tiles?
Try to decrease the angle at which you approach the ledge. In other words, keep yourself almost parallel to the bench before you ollie, and of course, make sure you are going fast enough.
It’s not about my turning direction. It’s always about the rail/ledge being behind you or in front of you. In this case the ledge is behind me, it’s backside.
As soon as I put my nose on the ledge, I feel like my wheels hitting it are making me stop. It's hard for me to get the slide going. I'm making too much contact to the side as opposed to the top when I land it. Hope I get this down... EDIT: Just as I am typing this, you describe what the issues could be. I will try to work on my lean... We have a metal ledge here, so I don't think wax is the issue. My board slides keep going as long as I have speed. But thanks again. I will work on my nose.
Don't know why but locking in a noseslide is the scariest shit i've ever tried. Somehow missing it all the time, my board flies off to the other side of the ledge, shiners alert, even bailing like a maniac when losing balance as the board goes overboard (no pun intended). Fs crook no problem. Bs noseslide? Never in a million years!
the skatepark in my hometown is re-opening in less than a week (finally! screw covid!) and I was already planning on learning grinds, this just made me even more hyped for that!! thanks for the great tips man 🤙🏻
How do you make it so that youre Wheels slide with you? I can jump into the position and all but every time my wheels hit the lege I stop, i tried to wax it but it still doesn’t really work, maybe not using enough but idk. Enyways great video tho
It might be the front end of the plate for your trucks grinding you to a halt. I had the same problem when I was learning and found that waxing the vertical part of the ledge and waxing the front of my truck helps a ton! Nose slides can require a ton of wax depending on the ledge!
@@peterfaecke2356 thx But Nah, its cool, i realised what i did wrong, and got it down and everything, now people actually say that i have really clean and good nose slides
I was working on this until I bodied trying to bail. I tried to step off with my back foot first but my board came up to cause I was pressing on the on nose with my other foot so I fell. Now I’m traumatized and not attempting it anymore.
I feel you bro I hate when that happens. Just give it a while and come back to it at some point and ease yourself back into trying the trick. Just think you got the worst out of the way and it probably won’t happen again.
Same exact concept, only a little riskier since you’re sliding on a thin piece of metal instead of a ledge. Probably easier to learn on the ledge first then try rail
I only get into the slide if I don’t have the nose (the entire surface) completely on the ledge. When my tail is sliding at parallel height to the nose, I get the slide. When I have all weight on the nose (the tail higher than the nose) I just get hung up. Dunno what I’m doing wrong, cause some skaters seem to get the slide even when the tail is way higher than the nose during the slide. 🤔
I just got these back after years of losing it but I’m afraid I’ll over shoot it or miss the ledge. And I always wait until like the last 1/4 of the ledge to do it because I’m scared
My problem is i can put both feet on thenose and tail and just nose slide on a curb but the ollie into it is wierd for me im gonna practice it tomorrow
Getting these down today, figured out: Once you’re about to get on, shift your head and hips over the nose, helps a lot with getting all of your weight where it needs to be. Hope this helps someone out there :)
The ledge I’m trying on is super fast so I keep slipping out, hopefully this helps
God bless you sir cause Im never able to keep weight on the nose

I have a problem with shifting my weight on time too😭 guys..
This helped a lot! Longest nose slide of my life today

And best of all: if you got these, crooked grinds are the exact same thing, just ride a little closer to the ledge ;)
Only crooks are scary AF cuz if your wheels go on the ledge its split city
Alex Surh exactly every time I try crooks this happens to me
@@alexsurh1472 I did this doing a simple nose stall earlier lol. Front wheels went way over coping and I looped and slammed my back on the ledge. Good start to the day

I think ive accidentally locked into crooked grinds more than actually landing nose slides
I know it is a basic trick, but you have a really nice stylish noseslide my Man!
i feel like he's got stylish everything honestly lol the man's nice!
Timmy Johnson bruh, I appreciate these tips. Shits not easy, but what a sport. So unique and challenging. I love it. Always gunna keep pushing
He's got style in every trick
Basic!!?
Got a new deck today.... This is the video I needed. Thanks
What deck?
i swear to god every trick im working on you upload a video on it the same week, its like we're connected or some shit
Watched this video once... Literally did everything you said to do. Went to Normoyle and did my first nose slide to fakie. Thanks Bruh!!
I’m working on this trick rn. Still finding it difficult to lock in the nose on the ledge but will keep working on it👍🏽
idk why but I always do a boardslide, it's so annoying. I've landed 1 tailslide before but it has not clicked yet
@@natheengarcia what I did was just be farther from the ledge so there's no possible way I can get into a board slide
i love the learning process tho, if i fall i always fall like sitting on the ledge
@@natheengarcia I have the same problem where I have to pop from pretty far away or else I’ll do a board slide I don’t get it

Broked wth LOL 😂
Oi cara
im gonna try to learn this trick tomorrow im happy you uploaded this i really want to learn this one is my favorite ledge trick
Thats such a pretty ledge ❤️
Thank you!!!! I've been getting closer to this trick and needed this
You have way more style than a bunch of pros out there. For real!!!
I've got backside tails. Idk why I avoided noseslides for so long. I need to start practicing these. Thank you!
Thanks for the tips I've been doing these for five days now and on my fifth day I've finally got them down on lock
hell yeah man thank you
Thanks Will! Love the filming and great advice :)
Hopefully I get these before lockdown finishes. I can only noseslide frontside and this trick (bsns) has caused me so much anguish in my time
If anything the bs would be easier than fs bc when u come at it bs ur going to be sliding facing forward where as fs you’ll b kinda facing bwckwards
Nickreate777 the balance in a board slide is way different than the balance u need for a nose slide
weird cuz everytime i try a front nose i almost die.

Harder wheels
Wax where the wheels slide along the ledge
How do you make the money to buy the skateboard, is the cost high?
How do I stop my heel from touching the ledge

Ayyye! Pearsall park!
my problem is that my frontwheels wheels get up to high and over the curb....help!?
For some reason whenever I try these I get on, don’t slide very far, and then just come out fakie, any tips?
More wax, or go faster, or lean on your midfoot/heel more while keeping your body slightly behind the board. Could be a combo of those three.
Try to decrease the angle at which you approach the ledge. In other words, keep yourself almost parallel to the bench before you ollie, and of course, make sure you are going fast enough.
Slightly lean back while putting pressure on your nose. Also bend your knees to keep balanced. This combination will help you stay in the slide longer
