I have been wearing my WINKLER belt knife since 2017 , and I think it is the best blade ever. I EDC it, and use it just about every day. I really love the sheath, and how incredibly sharp I get it.
    Thank YOU Worksharp!!!!

“Bushcraft” is a broad term. This knife is way better than you think. I’ve had mine for years and I have zero rust on it, if it gets wet or if I’m in salt water I get home and I clean it and maintain it as you should with anything.

The field knife is awesome. Big for edc but for a gen purpose outdoors knife I think it’s a great size

I think it's totally fair to love a knife that isn't objectively the "best"

Thanks for the review, and especially your comments on what it is (and isn't) well suited for.

And rust shpuldnt ever really be an issue. Wipe it down at the end of the day if you used it or soon after using, oil..i use the hell out of my knives and i don't think knive had rust spotting or anything

I have a Winkler SD 2 ,it is not a bush craft knife . its a tactical edc knife.
all knives are not made to do the same job. Winkler knives are great, I also have many
Bark river knives. all have different job to do. matter of fact 80CRV2 steel is very
strong,it will go through nails and retain its edge,

A lot of people complain about the 80crv2 steel and I genuinely don’t understand their gripe. The only thing that I could find to complain about is it’s obviously not super rust resistant. Although as long as you care for your equipment that’s a none issue. It’s definitely a solid steel for hard use. Then again it’s not the newest latest and greatest super tech operator super wonder steel so to each their own lol.

Im just wondering what part of "bushcrafting" your jlhaving issues with while using this knife?

The fact that you compared it to all those bushcraft knives, then didn’t mention the “Woodsman” as a potential next purchase is wild!

Yeah, I don’t consider that knife very woodsy in my opinion. To each their own!

@@outdooranalyst8697 I received my Winkler Woodsman today. You’re right, not exactly a bushcraft knife - but I like it. More of a utility, do a little of everything blade… it will probably end up in the woods too. Thanks for the info and the tip on the Wicked Wax. Good stuff!

I’ve had the Blue Ridge Hunter for about a year. It appears to be the baby brother to this one and it’s been a darned good belt knife. Sort of a jack of all trades but is the king of none of the tasks.
Recently picked up their Operator which I really like.

ESEE's Ashley Game Knife, now that's the perfect skinner. Really long handle, mini-Nessmuk style blade, but not extreme (I don't personally think that Bark River is all that ideal, could use some more belly for taste). Anyway, Belt knives are supposed to be a jack of all trades, that's literally the purpose of their existence - to be serviceable at any task you may find yourself in as an EDC. It's a little disingenuous to compare it to uni-task designs like a scandi.
