    I think *this is the best opening ever made in the history of television* from start to finish to the extent and in the mix, music with the theme "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" by Johann Sebastian Bach and flash sequences of what happened term after term, resulting in something. .. PERFECT, BRIGHT. Well ... I can only say that it is a MASTERPIECE.

      Figra Ardham Its really strange, I grew up with a complete different opening song: Tausend Jahre sind ein tag by Udo Jürgens, its complete different of this theme. In my opinion everyone should know this Cartoon. Unfortunately cartoons in this generation are completely dumb and do nothing for education or they do it in complete wrong ways. @paireon3419 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ChristopherSobieniak Eeehh, it was a French cartoon. Those just don't show up all that often on US TV AFAIK; it was probably aired only once, and likely on local affiliates rather than nationwide (I could also be wrong though). I've seen it so many times due to being a French-Canadian from Quebec province, where it aired many, many times from the 80's to the late 00's on Francophone channels.
      Gotta admit though, that while by 80's standards it was great, nowadays the history portrayed is rather... dated. Unfortunately, the last episode is still depressingly relevant today (even though it ends on a hopeful note; it's basically an expansion on the intro's last few seconds).

    No wonder I ended up loving Bach's music well into adulthood.
    I never figured where that love really began; now I'm almost certain that it started with this theme that I heard weekly in the early 80s when this was originally aired. I had no knowledge of composers or anything like that back then, not really until TH-cam became a thing and I heard people performing his music; it was instant love again.

      And what a song: The producers chose the harmless cute first stanza about children always questioning...
      ... questioning the necessity to do greedy global war (that is revealed in the second stanza, and NOT in the intro).

    I think we were lucky as kids in the 70s and 80s having T.V. programmes with this much intelligence put into them. Oh god, yes, this intro is infinitely sad - but doesn't it make you think ??! As a kid it profoundly moved me and played not a small part in shaping the way I thought as I grew up.

    A classic opening to a brilliant animated show using the music of Bach. I remember this so many decades ago and it makes the hairs stand up.

    I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, this cartoon series is not only prophetic, it is correct in every sense of the word. I was 2.5 years old when I saw it and I booked my ticket to ride the rocket when I was 30. See you rotters later, when you get your potata...

    This series broadcast in Australia in the very early 80's on the multicultural station SBS, and was a strong part of my childhood. Thank you to the producers and crew of this marvelous show. Interesting that Tatsunoko was involved in the production, as they also produced Gatchaman, aka Battle of the Planets, another of my favourite shows from that era. Also interesting is that SBS screened the animated series Colargol at the same time, both Colargol and Once Upon A Time being produced by Procidis. I wonder if SBS had a deal with Procidis back then?

      @max_im_um 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That French guy Albert Barillé who wrote most of the thing outsourced production to Tatsunoko. Back then the Japanese were already mass producing animes after all, so it was cheap. You can clearly tell the style of animation is very much 70's Japanese anime even though the executive producers, writers etc are all French names.

    I saw a video where a guy put a firework in his ass and when the rocket went off it didn't take off so it just burned his ass off and then exploded. It reminded me about the ending of this.

    How doesn't this have more views? This series (and others made by Alber Barille) was stunningly epic. Most adults could benefit from watching this to brush up on their history as well. Hell, most of my peers at university studying history as well. Incredibly informative and surprisingly analytical for a childrens cartoon

    I think even in 2023 (this is from 1978 so after 45 years) this series is untoucheable. I always was just glued to TV and ate every word, passionately rooted for the good guys and hoped the bad guys fail. Total masterpiece of a song, masterpiece of a series and absolutely unforgettable memory from my youth. I dont cry ever but this makes my eyes watery and sometimes I shed a tear. Absolutely in league of its own.
