@@tnelliott2447 I mean considering no one was throwing insults besides one person here you show up 3 months late making yourself seem uneducated. Maybe go ahead and learn about all the wars we've been before you say every single one was motivated by some kind of commercial gain. P.S WW1 and WW2 were far from about getting monetary gain and towards the end of WW2 we had exhausted so much money that if the war had gone on for 1 or 2 more weeks our country would've fallen bankrupt and into another depression. But sure america is filled with a bunch of "pukes". Go ahead and educate yourself next time.
Edit: Yes, no one wanted to get pulled into WW2 until Japan did an incredibly dishonorable thing and bombed pearl harbor. Thats when the countries nationalistic tendencies kicked in and we joined the allies and with help from Russia and the UK making a comeback we pushed them back in multiple places around the globe. Let's also talk about how the US cleared Africa of the Nazis and effectively also saved Australia from being conquered by the Africa corps. Which if you didn't know was the nazis who were moving south and attempting to take all of africa before moving onto Australia eventually.

Canadians always put us Americans to shame when it comes to national anthems. Theirs is far better, hands down. And, more importantly, they always--ALWAYS--belt it like they mean it. Only in Canada can a singer get paid to hold the microphone up and let thousands do his job for him. They usually sing America's anthem better than the ones we pick to do it do it. Not always, but usually.

O Canada, our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command!
With glowing hearts, we see thee rise, the true north strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

I have read so many comments on this video. Simply, why can't we be glad that a Canadian-born girl won a gold medal for her country.

If many Canadians watching these had to blink away a few tears aftwewards, I can only imagine what it was like for those who were there.

How can you not love hockey ?? Speed, skill and toughness. Hockey players are the last true athletes - tough as steel. Gotta love the sport and Canada !!
    Congratulations Ms Huynh !!

I grew up in Hazelton as well, until I was 14 and was a grade ahead of Carol in school. It is amazing to think that someone from little old Hazelton has won an Olympic medal and will hopefully be winning another one!

@foneill9, it wasn't just hearing the anthem that made it so emotional but Carol was our 1st gold medalist in Beijing after nearly a week without ANY hardware of any colour...and you're absolutely right, medal counts mean nothing if you don't do it with integrity and class

I agree that Canada, and Canadians, are superb. As an American who has admired many Canadians all of my life and your beautiful country every time I've had the good fortune to visit, Canadians and Canada have my respect and admiration. And you got the BEST anthem in the world, you luckies! :-)

There are so many people who come to this country with respect for the land and the people. Throughout history we've always been a nation where the best and worst aspects of the world came together and moulded a true country. Any person born in Canada or a person that has come here loyal, sworn to Canada is a Canadian. We were all new here once. Our multiculturalism is world inspiring. And, I'm not talking about the douches that cheat but the greater part that work for this nation.

I'm so proud of her. Every country I travel to in the world people tell me I don't 'look' Canadian. I wish there was something Heritiage Canada and Foreign Affairs could do about that because people like this woman deserve better.
