    Wow, that moves even me to tears. And I'm from Germany.
    Canada, you undoubtedly have one of the most beautiful national anthems in the world!

    I'm from the US and I think the Canadian national anthem rocks totally. It's simple to sing, has a beautiful melody and very unpretentious lyrics. All of these qualities are lacking in the Star Spangled Banner. Wish we could change our anthem to God Bless America or America the Beautiful.

    I just love watching Chandra belting out her Anthem. She's the model for ALL Canadians to emulate. I love how she starts singing in the prelude and looks disappointed when that ends, thinking and mouthing: "is that it?!!?" Then the look of sheer relief and joy when the anthem continues. Also noticed her honor her Grandmother by making sure her ring/pendant was out and visible before singing. You make an entire Nation proud, Chandra!

    Canada is a great place! ^-^
    we don't judge anyone by what race they are, or what they look like. :)
    If anybody judges, they are not true Candians, or they just have issues.lol
    I don't mean to start anything, but it still makes me mad that some people think Canada has winter all year round..... :( well we're not.

    Do you know whats crazy, I'm British and yet I watch this and still feel actually quite proud. Canadians have a beautiful national anthem and you cant help but feel upstanding, God knows how proud you must feel if you are actually Canadian. Dont ever forget how chest thumpingly proud you can feel about a country even if its not the place you call home.

    Going to Quebec in a few weeks. Have been to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (twice!) and and have never been disappointed by the beauty of the country or the unerring friendliness of the people. This video just reinforces my opinion - what a great performance! Those with negative opinions obviously have never been to Canada - Canadians have great and well deserved national pride. This from a native New Yorker...
    Canada Rocks!

    Canadians aren't cowards- they had the cohones to stand up to Bush and refuse to participate in our dirty, illegal invasion of a Nation that had no WMDs nor connections to 9-11. If you wanna see cowards, go no farther than Tony Blair and John Howard, and anyone else who didn't have to send their own kids to prosecute a senseless war and untold suffering.
    This amazing clip is about a proud Olympic Athlete belting out her National Anthem. There isn't an ounce of cowardice in Chandra's actions!!

    Not all Americans think and feel that way about our good neighbors to the North. And not everyone believes our anthem to be hypocritical and with poor melody. I second your emotion regarding Canada being a 'fantastic country to live in'. If McCain gets in ahead of Obama, and we stay in Iraq for the long haul, I am driving my sons across the 49th, to the True North Strong and Free!

    Stop being such a cry baby. A québécois would only sing the anthem in French. Most don't even know the lyrics in their own mother tongue and you want them to also know another version? Get real. I'm a "québécois" and most DON'T know the lyrics. Moi, je peux chanter en anglais et en français, mais je suis une exception! Je suis tellement tannée des chialeux de québécois pure laine.

    hockey3100:
    Excuse me? We're known all over the world as a PEACE-keeping nation, which is more than what can be said of your country, I'm sure. Canada has always been one of the best places to live in the world (the UN). I bet you didn't know that Canada split from Europe, because the Europeans thought that it was a good idea to abandon us. Our scattered colonies bonded to form a united nation, and Canada was born. We've always had a modern view of worldwide issues. I'm proud of my country!

  • @kanatasur2
    @kanatasur2 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey japantruther, Canada liberated Holland and Belgium in WWII, made inroads against the German front in WWI where other allies failed. From what your everyday European tells us, they know and respect Canadians. As for Japan and how you're perceived by Korea (comfort women) and China (rape of Nanking), among other Asian states, whom you attacked and violated, how do they feel about you? Go to the site for Japanese anthem and reflect on that rather than on the Canadian anthem site and criticize.

  • @kanatasur2
    @kanatasur2 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    The US is an amazing country. It is so dynamic and creative, so incredibly entrepreneurial and the people are really wonderful. BUT, for crying out loud: your government can't attack other people with impunity. They're not jealous of your 'freedoms'! 1 in 100 Americans are in prison, 40M citizens without healthcare, more deaths from gun crimes than CDA, western europe and Japan combined. They hate you lording over them superiority and self-love instead of showing humility, equality & respect.

  • @kanatasur2
    @kanatasur2 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't dislike the States but you're way out of line, disrespecting CDA like this, given the civility and decency of our country: Invade Greneda, shell Pananma, put mines in int'l waters in the Gulf of Mexico, refuse to be a signator to UN Intl Criminal Court, DROP MORE BOMBS on Cambodia, a country u were not at war at, than on Japan in all of WWII! And I won't even start on Iraq. Maybe your country doesn't teach u this history. But we learn it. So do the Europeans. And so do S. Americans.

    The truth? You speak of our efforts during both World Wars in vain, i will never agree with that. And i know Russia is getting better, Communism is only a good idea on paper, but a very bad idea in practice.
    I sincerely mean it when i say i hope you get back on your feet soon, as long as you agree to stay in your place.
    Red Russia has killed many more innocents then Nazi Germany. I hope you know that it was far from being as great as you presume.

  • @Malkane21
    @Malkane21 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    We brought allot to this world, and our soldiers are amounst the best the world has to offer, they are just not as much as British soldiers, but a Canadian soldier is very similar to a British soldier, which are the best trained soldiers in the world
    Canada and the USA can't live without each other, if Canada was never to be, USA would never of been the World power it is today. Russia is just a shell of what it used to be, you live in the past.

  • @Malkane21
    @Malkane21 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    Both my grandfathers fought in WWII. Oh and here are some numbers
    Over the course of the war, 1.1 million Canadians served in the army, navy, and air force. Of these more than 42,000 gave their lives and another 54,000 were wounded.[4] Countless other Canadians shared in the suffering and the hardships of war at home and abroad.
    For a population of 10 millions, thats allot of soldiers.

  • @Malkane21
    @Malkane21 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    Indeed, in the aftermath of the Battle of the Somme, the Canadian Corps developed a reputation as shock troops which were feared by the Germans. The Canadian army even had its own nick-name les durs à cuire (hard to cook; kill) meaning the Canadians were very hard to demoralize and defeat.
    After those wars we've sent troops to every war the US was in, execpt for Vietnam and the very recent Second Irak war.
    Even though you insult me, i respect Russian soldiers.

  • @Malkane21
    @Malkane21 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good god man, Canada is a very young country, we've sent, to WWI, around 10% of our population fight, and around the same amount of soldiers in WWII. Before that, you might not of heard allot of us..since we weren't a country, but I'm sure you've heard of the British Empire? In WWI we've earned our selves a country. heres an example from a document on Canadian history in the Great War:

    jay- Let me put my 2 cents in. I think what that guy or girl japantruther might be saying is that it looks as though some Canadians make jibes at other country's doping scandals (in particular the US) so perhaps he or she was pointing out that Canada also has issues with doping in with sporting events.
    My 2 cents.

    Explain to me why you have people running around MEASURING SIGNS TO MAKE SURE THE FRENCH IS BIG ENOUGH. Explain to me the multi billion dollar tax gap whereby cash leaves provinces that MAKE money (ie Ontario, BC, Alberta) and go directly to Quebec? Explain to me how Ontario alone lost something like a billion dollars in tax revenue. You want fairness? So do I.

    A passionate and beautiful country - she sings with such sparkles in her eyes - can't help but get goose pimples.
    ...wishing that Canada wasn't under so much social engineering and separatist manipulation. This country is failing - it is already divided. We know that there cannot be two Canadas. Quebec is already a separated nation.

    You can't single out Canada for being busted for sports enhancing drugs. Other countries get in the same trouble. I can admit Canada's Ben Johnson was the first to experiment, and get caught. On the other hand; The IOC have appointed a few Canadians to investigate doping cases in the Olympics.

    I'm doing some research on anthems and it's hilarious/absurd that on every national anthem video there is some kind of debate on who's country is best or why they're inferior. The only exception so far being Jimi Hendrix's rendition of the star spangled banner.
