Ive read this on pirate years ago. This belongs to stan prueitt who originally built the trex 6x6 dodge on top truck challenge. He built this for his family, and to have a more street friendly rig. He later was a judge on top truck, and has been in several magazines. He knows what he is doing. Stop being arm chair engineers. These pics are very old and it hasnt exploded yet. Love your work stan.

and even an armchair engineer can see the very bad wheel well openings.....they are terrible....

Looks better than the one you built LR.

    • @Hellsong89
      @Hellsong89 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@TheAmericanUhate Ou why yes, why not everyone just spend 10-20k on wrangler, then get front end collision wreck for 5k and put least another 5k on materials, just so they can state the fucking obvious? I have seen 10y olds make something like this on 100$ field car and manage way better with the wheel alignment, so i guess we need to invite that kid to come and state it for you...
Seriously though no one is saying technical aspect of this is bad, only thing people are mentioning is how close the rear wheels are to each other making place where trunk of something can get jammed, possible breaking things, engine could be bit underpowered cause of added weight and that wheel placement in the arches could have been better.

I saw a 6X6 made with 9.5 Ford diffs. Back cover cut off first axle and holes drilled and tapped to bolt up a differential. Second 9.5 front cover with pinion. Mounts for bearings are carbon arced off. Bolt to first axle so the pinion drives off the back of the ring gear. You now have an axle that has a u joint yolk on both sides. Take 3rd axle and turn it over so it turns the correct direction. Mount axles on an I beam to make a Hendrickson type rear suspension.

Tuff to do with 60s or 70s Dana looks like 205 remote case backwards to drive them BOTH . The rock well thru drives would have made doing that so much easier possibly close to same weight the 205 case is about 200 lbs looks like it's working good . Control links to limit the drive shafts from binding and braking is a must. Good engineering!

Over all I liked the Jeep. However, it’s a nice ride, but some opportunity was missed.
    1) like relocating the front tandem forward. That would have allowed the middle axle to stay in gauged with terrain over rocky climbs
    2) the rear body could have been existent out pass the rear tandems tire.
To prevent the tire from rubbing, while climbing over rocks. As see in video.
3 ) the roll bars could have used a bit more thought
    4) the second set of seats appears way low. In reference to the front seats. Just an a statics.

20's were the big thing then so I put 18's on 10 wheels but smart semi had 6 wheel drive they told me not to go buck wild I wanted to build a 12 person hot tub in the trailer overall fun build. Never saw the truck once it left sema

I've been contemplating a very similar 6x6 setup on a $100 Jeep Comanche i acquired. I picked up a divorced rockwell 221 tcase with 4 total outputs. Should be covered either way but is your divorced case a 205 mounted backwards and therefore running in reverse rotation?

Timothy W. ... thought the same thing but I think it was necessary to achieve proper driveline angle for the far back axle... also with the pillow blocks on the middle axle doesn't leave a lot of room for drive shafts... FYI the front drive shaft is longer than the back... they overcame the obstacle well with the fenders 👍

Its badass but that rear just f's the build all up. It's just doesn't fit right all ya had to do is make that rear fender go further past the rear tires and that would of made it look better. Im sorry but I hope you fixed that.

Hi love the build. I have many questions as im putting together and planning a simbuild on my tj.
What axles and gear ratio did you go with? What secondary transfer case did you use and was it a np 205? Do you plan to leave the fa tory 4.0 or swap to diesel? Also how and where did you mount the air tanks and compressor? Also if i may ask why air bags and not a three and four link to get more articulation?

A lot of mechanical challenges, but why did you let the top of the rear quarter end up with a dip? and the axle placement vs. the body? the roll cage offers no protection for 3d row with the seat so high. I was also disapointed with the weld quality. Next project will be better.

  • @CarLos-yi7ne

Nice build but always something to complain (of course):
    - Rear body much to short!
    - Very short panhard rods!
    - Chassis seems to be very weak around the heaviest loaded area (around 1st rear axle). The chassis is much longer now so it needs a higher profile.
    - 1st. rear axle comes from the ground very easily.. Almost no articulation (air suspension pumped up hard to prevent rear wheels rubbing the rear fenders). Almost all articulation comes from frontaxle.
It looks nice but there is definately some work to do to in the technical area!
