    This may be the best modification of a planter for consistency that I've ever seen!!!!!

    • @lynwessel2471
      @lynwessel2471 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Should have been designed that way when the center fill planters first came out. There's been research done showing that the 6 center rows average 7 bu/acre less due to compaction. Now they need a sensor on the center lift cylinders so it could automatically adjust the down pressure on the wings as the center gets lighter.

    Dougo, as a blue eyed, freckled ginger haired kid, I always have skin cancers taken off, about 2 to 3 times a year, so I can relate. When I was a kid, the closest thing we had to sunscreen was playing in the mud! I like that you are using the old wood. My dad and I built his garage back in 1974, and we only bought 3 new pieces of lumber. The rest we re-purposed from a barn that we tore down. Blessings to all from Ohio!

    I'm glad to see you are looking after the skin cancer. I wish we all had a better understanding, when we were younger, of what damage the sun can do to unprotected skin. The planter "upgrade" makes total sense. You certainly have a super shop in which to do that work. I love the upgrade on the truck lighting. It sure looks like LED is the solution to making things bright.

    I trust you are doing with the skin cancer issue. Kind of a tough process but it works. Hang in there Dougo.
    Love the hoodie you had on.

Took a while to go but good work by them and great addition to the planter operation. Thanks for showing the system to us Chet.
    Good job on the truck lights Brody. Really light the place up when on. Will work great for getting in and out of fields. Nice work.
    Good to see Toby and Ray. Good dogs.

As soon as you start to open that drawer the whole inside of that tray will be illuminated so you can find whatever you need without completely opening it all the way. We tore down an old barn and used all that wood to change two drive through hay mows into dairy cow stalls to increase our milking stall area by 40 more cows back in the 70's I'm brother and I worked for "days" removing nails. It was a cheap expansion that lasted 25 years. Doug might know what I mean by drive through mows. If not your grandfather for sure does.

    Thanks allot for bringing up the old yellow fiberglass seed boxes (we had the dry fertilizer bins as well) itching, Duggo, phantom arm itch has set in. Fond memories? Not so much. We planted 30" rows of sweetcorn, no seed monitors, all hand picked, around 250 acres usually. You could tell the kids who had math skills once they figured out they were in a field that had a faulty seed box, nobody wants a row to disappear when your picking along dragging a gunny sack between your legs on a picking belt. On those days it was a race to the end of the field to choose your next two rows. Well now I'm having phantom corn leaf cut pains on my arms...not thinking about eyes..nope no no no no no. I'll just think about the half the night shakes from running the John Deere 820, and how quiet it is at night now when I take my hearing aids out......that's better. Move along bus, move along.

Could be a welding job with square tube and diamond mesh, or it could be 2x4's and plywood. Either method would allow stacking the covers to the side while the pit is in use. Dougo May God heal your skin cancer. My dad was a fair skin blue eyed man. My mom and dad were fortunate enough to have have a beach home in Lewes De. They baked in the sun down on the beach and at home here. He had several bouts of skin cancer. He developed brain cancer and had surgery.. The dad I knew and loved died the day of his surgery. He was a completely different man after surgery.. he died of asbestosis.. he was a jet archer and the very protective breathing apparatus he wore had asbestosis in it. It was a horrible way to go. My daddy lost his sight due to macular degeneration. He learned to late to put on sunscreen and sun glasses. Chet and Eric please use sunscreen and sunglasses at all times in the sun. I got some of my worst sunburns on cloudy overcast days on the beach. We were there alot during the summer. Hey it was a rough life. Lol. Jk we enjoyed it and still do but now we are smart about the sun. Even when in the backyard pool we have sunglasses on. Stay safe guys.
