By far the best planter tutorial on YT. I watch this every year as I get my planter ready for planting. Thank you Zeth and Caleb for sharing your expertise and knowledge.
I'm not too proud to admit that I never knew I could flip the hooks on my quick attach. Wow, that is gonna make life easier!!! I told you last video that my son is getting info on the JD tech program, well we talked to our dealers service manager yesterday and he wants my son to come out and shadow one of his guys for a day to let him see what it's like.
WOWZER! What a nightmare of hydraulic hoses, & Electrical connections to deal with each season! I bet Zach made a video diary of this process for his reference, when it comes time to remember how to hook this monstrosity up next year.
Not a farmer but I watch content from 9 different farmers . I think you just taught alot of people something new . Exactly why I watch all of youre videos. As normal great job !
Thanks for making this video. Not a farmer but i have been curious for many years how exactly Zach connects the planter to the tractor and all the connections and hoses. Was really cool to watch. Thanks again for a great video
Absolutely wonderful video. One of the most interesting I have watched. Just great. My compliments to Zeth and Caleb. I am now retired and never had the opportunity to use all this new technology. But I find it so interesting so I can keep up with modern day equipment. My sincere thanks for educating us and improving our ability to do it on our own. My thanks again. Can’t wait to see the next parts. Thanks. The Iowa farm boy. Steve
Another good one Zeth! Do me a favor and bring back Caleb someday to do a video on autosteer calibrations (like the sensitivity cal). He’s the man when it comes to that and would be a good instructional video for dummy’s like me! Keep up the great work!!!
What an interesting video, Zach !! I am a retired "City Slicker" from San Diego - originally from Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) and a UTube fan !! Zach, I have a whole new respect for you and your Dad, and of course, Jim !! Farming here in America is certainly now, very high tech. The equipment, knowledge and ingenuity you need to have is totally mind blowing !! You seem to round it out by being a great husband and father !! Keep it up, my friend and you WILL be blessed !!
Can't believe how far farm equipment has come since the JD 2020 we had when I was kid. Great video. its great to watch and learn from guys who really know their stuff! The only thing that drove me nuts is all of the corn husks packed behind the cab. If My Uncle saw that he'd roll over in his grave. That stuff makes a great home for mice over the winter who love to eat wiring. Not to mention it promotes rust. Then, on top of that, it soaks up the hydraulic oil, on a hot day all it needs is a ignition source and you have a tractor fire.
An anti-seize lube helps on pins and bolts. I know you know this but farmers should use it all the time the amount of times they move or replace parts. It makes life easier and helps bolts ,pins and parts last longer.
Those dogs almost licked to death, lol, Zack walking around with a hammer and pry bar, just wanting to hit something 😆, but the two mech., we’re taking care of the pins,😅
I’m 75 and I haven’t been on a tractor since. I was 19, so a little behind on modern ag implements. Having said that it seems to me that if you start at 6am with that implement you should be hooked up in time for lunch. Don’t know another industry that has g,one thru so many changes in my life span. Heck we didn’t even have a cab on our tractors. I do enjoy watching your channel, the Larson, the Welkers, and the Brown family.
What an absolute video i totally feel like I'm at school here so informative! Millennial farmer is a lucy sob! To have you guys there he has had issues using this planter
Outstanding job. Great idea to have you tech guys, that know how all the parts interconnect, come out and set the entire unit up. I would think that would save a lot of time in the long run getting everything operating as it should be.
It’s intriguing to watch the technical and mechanical technology in agriculture equipment. You make it look easy. Glad you and Millennial Farmer connected and really enjoy your channel.
Great video guys. We make these couplings and SCV couplings at Parker in Wisconsin. The case drain line also has a pressure feature where it will disconnect if a high pressure is witnessed. This will save your seals on the motor case. The male will then bleed so excessive pressure doesn't get too high.
Great video we don’t use planters up here found it interesting they have as many hoses and wiring as a bourgault air drill. Looks like your back is still giving you a few issues
Bless that man’s heart. Won’t be long before he learns not to jump down. Really hard on the knees and other parts of the body. Something another farmer Friend taught me years ago.
I really liked Caleb I believe his name was. He seemed very knowledgeable and personally I felt that he was a great teacher when explaining the generator.
Zeth, I enjoy watching your videos very informative, great clarification. Ready for part #2. Definitely keep the knowledge coming. Look you up at the next one. Stay safe!!
When you coming to Pa Zach , I could use your expertise for a month. Lol Love what you do, great job, glad you got to meet Zach and work on his equipment, keep up the good work.
Great overview! That case drain connection seems like a curve ball: "It's OK to pull out all the hoses except for one that you need to activate the collar release to prevent early wear.
Good morning Granny, what was the first tractor you remember seeing or driving. Isn't the work Daniel and Dad do Amazing. Great Video Daniel! Amazing technology. Our planter years ago was chain driven off the planter wheel.
I’m trying to change out the brass splined gear on my generator as talked about in the video. But the brass gear is stuck on there good. Can I use a puller to remove the flywheel and the brass gear?
Wow is all I can say. That’s one hell of a planter guy. Excellent job informing about the hydraulic and electrical connections!! 45% of my service calls during planting season are connection problems!!
seems that no attention was given the cast fins the impeller blow air over to help keep the transmission cool. aluminum needs to be clean to dissipate the heat.
I run a red planter but I never knew about the release on the case drain hose, I’ve always just pulled it off. Last year the case drain hose was always coming off so I’m assuming I need to replace the coupler on the tractor.

Thank you for sharing this 🙏
You were lucky to get past the dogs...
I was terrified lol 😂
@@ZKMasterTech Bypassed SimpliSafe Security system. 🤔
Is there going to be an off the husk episode with ZK?
Zack you made them do everything!!! Typical millennial! 😆 🤣 lol
But what about Becky with her Louisville slugger?
I'm not too proud to admit that I never knew I could flip the hooks on my quick attach. Wow, that is gonna make life easier!!! Great to see two streams working together
I thought you weren't supposed to cross the streams?!?
It's a good thing Zach will have an instruction video when he hooks up the planter next time.
Not a farmer but I watch content from 9 different farmers . I think you just taught alot of people something new . Exactly why I watch all of youre videos. As normal great job !
True professionals! Great viewing too.
Cool vid guys, I watch Zach all the time, now I'll watch you guys too.
40 years ago we had a 4 row JD planter. it had 2 hoses and no electrical lines. the technology you have these days is amazing!
In the '40's, '50's and early '60's Dad and Granddad planted with a 4 row with no hoses. It Was mounted on the front of Granddad's '39 Oliver 70.
This was excellent.I am looking forward to part 2 and 3.
Thanks for making this video. Not a farmer but i have been curious for many years how exactly Zach connects the planter to the tractor and all the connections and hoses. Was really cool to watch. Thanks again for a great video
New arrival from Millennial Farmers channel! I have a lot of videos to catch up on 🤓

Its so cool to have you guys there helping get that machine ready to work
I was chuffed to learn that you would be dropping by on them, I haven't even watched it yet and it is already liked!
Awesome seeing Caleb in his element 🙌
This was a very informative video. You and Caleb are truly masters of your trade.

The proper Windshield washer is Methanol based.and doesn't Freeze. Although Anna might freeze. 2:59
Great video and good way to show what needs to happen behind the scenes each season before the equipment hits the rows
Those dogs almost licked to death, lol, Zack walking around with a hammer and pry bar, just wanting to hit something 😆, but the two mech., we’re taking care of the pins,😅
Loving the start of all this..Your face expression is spot on!!!

lots of work to setup ! when you know what you are doing , its straight forward , Millennial will call when its time to rehook !
With a handfull of snow you can whipe your windshields as well!

$10,000 bill just for bringing Caleb and worth every bushel.
Top man best mechanic ever

Yeah, it's a shame Zach didn't have them out before running it wrong for a year.
Fascinating. You two know your John Deer's
Thanks for showing the hydraulic labels in the catalog. You are right - the line hookup can be a bit confusing after a year away from it.
It’s intriguing to watch the technical and mechanical technology in agriculture equipment. You make it look easy. Glad you and Millennial Farmer connected and really enjoy your channel.
Wow when I worked for John Deere in the early 80’s there was no computer’s in the tractors 🚜 this video was very knowledgeable thanks for sharing

my favorite new funnel are from the john deere def jugs they fit on all the 2.5 gal jugs :P

He’s a certified John Deere instructor. Very good at it
And a good guy too-
A really watchable video. It was good to go into fine detail and listen to Caleb explaining so thoroughly. A***
He knows his stuff and loves what he does. And it shows. Not all heroes wear capes, but all heroes work on green!
Dude im glad to watch your video of this first!
Absolutely amazing
Planting has become a technology game . I was having a hard time keeping up with what you guys are doing . Very interesting
Hell of a setup there!!! Thanks!
Zeth, I enjoy watching your videos very informative, great clarification. Ready for part #2. Definitely keep the knowledge coming. Look you up at the next one. Stay safe!!
Best video so far!
Good video looking for the next videos.
Very good guys I like the way you roll 👌 👍
When you coming to Pa Zach , I could use your expertise for a month. Lol Love what you do, great job, glad you got to meet Zach and work on his equipment, keep up the good work.
Great video. Lots of good information
I got all emotional watching this. Brings a tear to the eye...😉 Great video!! Don't let True North find out your up here...🤣🤣
Like the Sloans hat and hoodie, central Illinois
IM giving a thumbs up for the goatee alone son.
Great overview! That case drain connection seems like a curve ball: "It's OK to pull out all the hoses except for one that you need to activate the collar release to prevent early wear.
I knew that drama show must have had a professional engineering advisor on board. They always look authentic.
Been waiting for this one
Love the collab!
Very interesting thanks for sharing guys 👀🦘👍
Caleb is ROCKING the facial hair this winter. That dude has some SERIOUS beardage going on.
This was very interesting 👍
Now Zack knows if they need to switch tractors again. "The more you know!! " 🎵
Good morning Granny, what was the first tractor you remember seeing or driving. Isn't the work Daniel and Dad do Amazing. Great Video Daniel! Amazing technology. Our planter years ago was chain driven off the planter wheel.
Who’s Daniel? Lol
Love how when cordless impacts came out, the torque wrench went out the window
Good work

U GUYS ARE AWESOME HERO CONGRATULATIONS ON JOB WELL DONE
Awesome very well done
I’m trying to change out the brass splined gear on my generator as talked about in the video. But the brass gear is stuck on there good. Can I use a puller to remove the flywheel and the brass gear?
I guess Zack finally called the professionals to fix the problem
I guess Caleb doesn't have the magic snap action to install all the hydraulic and electrical hoses that Millennial Farmer does.
Great video. Looking forward to the next
Wow is all I can say. That’s one hell of a planter guy. Excellent job informing about the hydraulic and electrical connections!! 45% of my service calls during planting season are connection problems!!
He’s the best of the best! Just wait for part two..
@@ZKMasterTech how long has he been doing it? Man I’ve been mostly tractors for the last 4 years and just really starting on planters

I will stick to my old corn planter. I now hire a fancy custom planter to do beans. They are beyond what small farmer can support.
& The man of the match award goes to Phill 👌
Good video thanks thanks
Been waiting for these videos !! Always great content, 👍
I didnt hear you realy, the H7 whas for flushing or? Question from Sweden Europe 😅😊😊!🎉
Where would the accessories access point be on a 5045E, I need to ad a cb and additional lights, and a tablet for implements. No body seems to know.
They need a Crash Guard over the Temperature Sensor, Deere!!! 14:12 a Running Board of some type. 14:57
seems that no attention was given the cast fins the impeller blow air over to help keep the transmission cool. aluminum needs to be clean to dissipate the heat.
Seems like you could just put a deep well socket over that temp sensor to protect it
I run a red planter but I never knew about the release on the case drain hose, I’ve always just pulled it off. Last year the case drain hose was always coming off so I’m assuming I need to replace the coupler on the tractor.
Good engineering on the damn temp sensor location.
