More people should watch your show for the simple reason they could learn what life is all about...a combo of fun and serious...nothing is perfect all the time❤
Chet and everyone - thanks for a great demonstration of Hardy Minnesotians doing what we do, despite the weather slowing us down a little. It's an inconvenience, not a show stopper. Carry on!!!!
When it's really cold out, we cycle the glow plugs twice. Everything seems to start easier. If I'm wrong, those of you that know, well you know, but I might be wrong.
Chet, old truck driver tip, find an old fan belt and loop it through the 5th wheel latch handle. That'll give you the ability to stand up a little straighter when pulling the pin, much easier on your shoulders. Soft belt is much easier on the hands especially in winter. The belt will just hang there and not get caught up in anything on the truck!
Idea for the old used tracks, We use them for sidewalks or to park equip. on. Cut the track in half, if they have lugs dig a trench to accommodate them lug side down. Makes a great walkway in winter since, once the sun hits it will melt off. As for equip. Dozer tracks won't stick in winter. Works very well plus the cost to get them is very expensive. just a thought to share for a second purpose.
We in Australia have no idea of what your winter is and how quick it comes. A cold day in winter for us is 8 degrees C which is about 40f tropical compared to what you guys face. We have it wet and mud and cold for 4 months and then wet and mud and warm for 4 months then hot and dry then dry and cold. I tell new people to Tasmania that if you see a perfect day mark it on the calendar as it may be Summer Regards from Tasmania 👨🌾
That is what I like the most about winter and snow. It forces you to step back, take stock of what is happening and refocus. It is like a finish line and how you cross it speaks to your organization. The good thing is if you mess it up completely there is always next year!
Chet I know Minnesota is a beautiful state, I have drove through it many times while I was an OTR trucker (driver), but you and all the Minnesotans can keep it give me good old South Carolina where 40 degree day for us is a spring day for y'all, take care try to stay warm and please enjoy the holidays...a faithful follower...
I'm happy to see that everything steel within reach becomes a hammer. I do the same thing. Thank you for sharing the videos. What a great group of men! Stay safe and warm.
When windshield is cold snow don't stick and melt into ice. So the trick is to turn off defrosters and let cab and winshild get cold for awhile then slowly add heat to floor. So there.
I have been watching your Channel for awhile now. Something valuable that I have learned is that, Mother Nature NEVER plays nice with the Farmers. Always took it for granted the guessing game on what the weather is going to do. Nothing is ever easy for y’all and you give it hell everyday. Love the Channel, buy merch. Keep up the Great work.
Nice comment with same sentiments!! All of your dedication and amazing work ethic does not go unnoticed! Please keep posting! Much respect to you as a videographer and farmer!!!
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. The winter snow always makes things more difficult. Oh boy. Getting things moved for winter is a good idea. Doing ditch work is always hard. Winter snow does not help You all keep busy with all the extra winter jobs. You take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything. The Iowa farm boy.
Dougo, Chet, and all you guys up there. I love your winter ethics. No matter how cold, you guys dress accordingly and get it done. Well… we do it the same way down here, but it typically gets colder up there. Love your videos and your channel. ❤️👍
Hey, We are still on snow alert he in Cocoa Beach Fl. we did have an ice alert but someone turn the ice maker off fixed. One of your Minnesotans is in charge on snow plow duty. Yeah we ziptied a broke surfboard to his golf cart front.
Here is a Industry idea for you chet, prob make some bucks off it? cut the old old tracks and attach chains or cables and make make yard drags with them. they look like would make a nice gravel leveling serface if drug behind a smaller tractor or the side by side ect.
@@larrybe2900 exactly what i had on my mind layed out flat 2 or 3 cables or chains that would pull equal and away ya go. they look heavy so if not lay a couple together on top each other looks likes they have a couple laying around and probably have more soon enough
Nobody is ever prepared for late fall early winter crap. We all no it’s coming. Put them rubber nitrile gloves on inside your regular gloves. They keep your hands warm even though your outer gloves might get wet it really helps
Starting Tractors made me think back to the 60's and early 70's. You know not too many tractors had glow plugs so we had water heaters for the radiator. Oh My GOD don't forget to plug them in. Our dad could be quite upset. Had a 70 JD with a pony motor it always started the pony motor was water cooled so it was connected to the radiator let her run for 20 minutes or so and see would start. Great video
Love the vids chet. Dougo Eric Brody and chet u guys are the by far the best farming channel on you tube watch your videos every time love it. All the way from the great white north can appreciate those cold winter days. 🇨🇦👍
Thanks guys, nice video. Chet if you have problems with the injectors of the truck, drain the fueltank, exchange waterfilter more often, a tiny tiny drop of water can cause that problem. Till next time.
It’s great to see you all in the adverse conditions, still completing projects. And Duggo with his seasoned coverall, he’s a true farmer. Please stay safe while dealing in your harsh weather conditions. As always, looking forward to see your next projects
I feel this pain. We worked on a job all summer at 5500ft. Then one day it snowed and the temps went from 60° to 10°F. Then the challenge started of getting Al out equipment hauled off the job, and just getting equipment started and unfrozen from the earth. Blah, I hate the cold!! I also had to put a culvert in last minute because the land owner wanted it. Unfortunately there was already 8” of snow. So I had to scrape all the snow off dig the ditch, set the culvert and backfill. Thankfully the mush i backfilled with froze two days later. I also used a wrench to put the bolts on the culvert bands. To be honest I got annoyed and ended up cutting the extra part of the bolt off a few times with a sawzall so you could continue using my impact haha
Looks like the winter version of the struggle bus has shown up give you Minnesota folk a nice ice cold ride. It was horrible here in Miami today as well. A bone chilling 79 degree down now to 72. Definitely Jeans weather. Having moved here from Traverse City Michigan I can sympathize with your working outside in those temps.
I found 2 1/2" Kinetic Recovery Rope "Basilisk" [WLL 40k - 67k lbs] [MBS 201,000 lbs] goes up to 30’ but I think you guys all really have 30 feet. Great video .👍
out of curiosity what is your average snow fall total. I thought you guys got alot more snow than MN. You probably know that MN (and Wisconsin) has major Swedish heritage/connection.
Doug-o I think everyone has those types of bibs and old coats, never know when have to roll around in dirt or oil so why use the nice new ones😂😂 I’m only 34 and I have a set of both!!
Chet Dougo Eric Broodie great explanations always enjoyed itculvert and Salford bin augers legs no longer in use at the farm great video thank you for sharing and your time was awesome never miss a video and can't wait for next one.
Awesome video guys. Yes winter SUCKS, learned that from driving a semi for 20 yrs. Guess the good thing is I never lost control of the semi in the snow or on ice. I definitely spent enough time on ice that if I was going to loose it I would of.
Hey, seen a couple of videos on the old rock picker it has its place the amount of rocks they were picking up was a crop it was a bumper yield seen a new one and it had sweeps on both sides
Quick sell the augars, so Doug can go shopping for a Cat 980 loader with bucket and forks. He has little and big Bob, he can have little and big forklift.
Cold? What you talking about. You're down there in central Minnesota. Its much colder up here in Clay country. It doesn't matter how long the fall is, you are really never ready for the first snow fall and colder temps. I assume you got a permit to put that approach in that location. Don't worry, spring will be here before you are ready to plant. Stay warm and be safe.
That's the way we do it here chet. Kind of fun to getting everything put too bad for the winter starting to think about what shop projects need done between calwork but we try and keep everything lined up looking pretty. Makes you look a lot smarter to the neighborhood if you're doing that LOL.
Yes it take longer .you guy do a bang up job. You a good example to us all. Love you content, humor love for farming! No one gets done in the fall. That why your good cause you care so much about farming.

Chet...don't walk behind that dumper with a thin blade of ice that could have let go at any time! We like you a lot...stay safe!
Dougo, count your blessings you don't have winter hog chores anymore.
Dougo , That is when those stiff bibs finally loosen up and get comfortable when their all ripped up .

Take the old tracks cut them up and then set your snow pushers on them and you won't to worry about the grass and dirt
Chet, I had to laugh when you said, “The equipment sounds cold.” I don’t live in Minnesota, however, I knew immediately what you meant! 😅
Maybe get a 10’ yankum and shackle it and existing one together to make longer
That those old rubber tracks cut them up weld some brackets and make a good snow pusher attachment.

The problem with lots of rain and then a freeze is the frost can go deeper and any little snow melt stays above ground.
We have a week worth of rain in the forecast like rain everyday up until next wed and it’s supposed to turn to light snow
Our temps have been moody low as 20 at night to a high of 50 or 60 at lunch to noonish
Great to watch in the warmth of mi casa
