We have to do a great job in putting together a very strong case that exposes Park as a deceitful opportunist & charlatan who took advantage of the Western society's goodwill & sympathy for her own financial gain. I also noticed that she seems to really enjoy the spotlight & relish in her celebrity status, which made me very weary about her real motives. But her contradictions, distortions & lies can't be excused away or justified. So many commenters here have made asinine remarks about trauma, developing memories, age counting differences, etc. in order to deny or deflect the objective facts presented here. Really sad that people become so emotionally invested in someone like Park to the point they are unable or unwilling to critically analyze the reality & the facts that clearly demonstrate her manipulation & fabrication of the facts.
Personally I believe she is a despicable shameless opportunist. Which is really sad because this can harm the credibility of honest NK defectors & refugees. Just the South Korean show where her mother openly refutes her embellished & fabricated sob story is more than enough to convince any fair-minded, objective skeptic. And after seeing her on Fox "news" completely misrepresenting American history & the staff at Columbia University, it became apparent she has devolved into another right-wing hack who will say anything to gain sympathy & of course more $$$ & publicity. I also hate liars especially those who hide behind the mask of virtue.

Please do your due diligence and research this woman's credibility. She has already been exposed as a fraud exaggerating/fabricating her claims. Her stories have been inconsistent and contradictory over the years, raising questions as to the veracity of her claims.
Anyone who is tempted to believe that this woman might be telling the truth should look up "The Strange Tale of Yeonmi Park" in The Diplomat. Park Yeonmi is a compulsive liar and a narcissist. (Google it!). She has been caught in a million lies and simply profits off her NK sob story and by virtue signaling. No better than Greta Thunburg!
Short version, her story is full of holes and she has changed it multiple times (she can't even remember it consistently which is a problem with people who make things up since things that actually happened are just plain easier to remember than things you made up for profit.) Also see "Why do North Korean defector testimonies so often fall apart?" in The Guardian.
The combination of cash incentives (from various political organizations as well as the government) and the media’s constant pursuit for disturbing stories encourage refugees to exaggerate for financial rewards as well as popularity which in her case, she was able to use to tour the world AND become an actress. Also look up North Korean defector Shin Dong-hyuk who wrote a bestselling book about his life in a gulag he was never actually in and admitted the fact AFTER earning vast sums of money with a memoir which he made up.
Anything about the life about her family is said to be lies. Life in North Korea may be shit. Life in many countries of the world is shit. She was never a “defector”. At most she is a refugee, at least, an economic migrant. Her mother and herself lives like princesses according to testimony of people who knew her while she lived in the DPKR. She has become a Millionaire and is living the dream.
Really sucks that TH-cam has made it so easy for con artists to create a channel with a fake bleeding heart story and get super rich off the caring public that falls for it. There's so much of this going on across many different subjects.
QUOTE from : *Yeonmi Park: The Defector Who Fooled the World*
"I’m writing this message because I care about human rights and North Korean defectors. I was initially a big supporter of Yeonmi Park until I read Mary Ann Jolley’s exposé at the Diplomat.com .Then I realized something was very wrong with Yeonmi’s story. So I began to do some research. The more I researched, the more shocked and outraged I became at the extent of her lies. Many people are still unaware of Jolley’s article or are not willing to believe that Yeonmi is misleading us. I made this document for everyone to see the truth. Ms. Park is doing serious harm to the human rights field and to North Korean defectors. After she is exposed, many people around the world are going to feel betrayed. They may not be willing to listen or care about other defectors. That would be a tragic mistake, since many other defectors are surely honest and deserve our support.
The other reason I made this document was the suspicious Yeonmi Park Foundation website. Is Malala actually smart btw? I haven't been following her closely, but to me she has seemed like just a random person who happened to be in a position where it was convenient for *others* to build her up to be the kind of public figure they made her.
Of course, I'm not criticizing Malala here. It's just that she only seems like an average nice girl to me, propped up by others. Meanwhile, Yeonmi has just amazing levels of independent strength and is naturally predisposed to be an intellectual also (but is not someone that the biggest powers in the world would like to prop up so high, because Yeonmi is going up against China).

Mary Ann Jolley pointed out that the website had a PayPal donate button, but there was no mention of how the money would be used. I was concerned that honest people who want to help defectors might be sending their money into the wrong hands. I was relieved when Yeonmi responded to the Diplomat.com article by taking her foundation website down. Her explanation (“it was a dummy website made by a friend that accidentally went live and couldn’t really receive donations”) is obviously very dubious. We should thank Jolley for helping to ensure that donations to defectors go through reputable charities, with oversight and clear guidelines for how the money will be used.I’m still very concerned that Yeonmi and some of the people around her have a high potential to mislead others and harm North Korean defector causes. So I’m sending this document out in the hopes that you will help spread the truth."

This is going to seem dark, but could you do a video on concentration / labor camps that political prisoners go to? I've watched other videos who include cartoon drawings of testimonies of ex camp guards and even 1 escapee. Nevertheless the treatment is terrible and against any Geneva conference bylaws. I think with something exposing such tyranny, hopefully the video would spread like wildfire and get more attention, although it'll probably be a very hard video for you Yeonmi.
