- This game has amazing cutscenes, lore, music and voice acting but the horrific shaky camera sorta kills its replayablity for me. If you don't have a friend to play it with then just watch the movie version on youtube.

Yeah I almost never watch streams period and have I think watched Bawk live once when he played Hitman Blood Money but I love these and have watched / had-on almost every one of these videos so far. Looking forward to the rest.

I never played this one (only Umbrella) but regarding the camera complaints.. would the nunchuk not help/remove this issue? I assume you can use it to control the camera? Maybe not?
Actually you cannot. The nunchuck can however be used to reload or change weapons.
This and Zero were my entries for the RE series and I loved every moment of it. I played zero first and honestly really liked Dark side a bunch. I kinda hope they remake CVX one day.
I played this game and Umbrella Chronicles just once, ever, back on the PS3. I thought they were decent games, but I hardly remember much about either of them. I would actually like to replay them both again
You're lagging because Dolphin needs to build up a shader cache for each new game. So any time you see a new enemy, item, or texture, the game will lag, until Dolphin builds up the cache. When it does, you shouldn't lag anymore. That's why you weren't lagging until you got to those spiders in the beginning, since you haven't been through that area in any playthrough yet.

What I like about this game is when you fight Super X he actually displays his full abilities as a Super Tyrant, running, jumping, strength, his ability to heal because of the T-Virus. The fact that he doesn't just stand there to let you shot him with a rocket.

Before many of the remakes, these games reimagined and made me see RE stuff in high graphics for the first time. I was crazy excited watching it in youtube since i didn't have money back then to buy consoles lol

Bawk was very critical about camera shake, very valid criticisms but personally it wasn’t vomit inducing in my set up or most people do to the lower FPS of the Wii maybe. And I fully agree with the brother saying it’s an upgrade from Umbrella Chronicles. Now, here is why this would be a high tier RE in the list:
ITS THE BEST RAIL SHOOTER GAME EVER MADE WITH A VERY DESCENT BUDGET AND DEVELOPERS WHO PUT THEIR HEART ON THE PROJECT!
Not kidding, I’ve played Rail Shooters all my life like the HOTD games, Time Crisis, Vampire Night, etc. And out of all those games Darkside is the best experience, for length, story and enemy variety as well as amazing mechanics (like choosing when to heal with your herbs, knowing the correct weapon switches, etc)

Also they remade the OG Games in a way which was cool. If they do a Code Veronica Remake. They should try to combine the Original and this one. But of course we'll get the whole Chris Section. With the face from Darkside Chronicles which looks like RE1 Remake Chris. If they don't add the Butt scene I'M GONNA-
I love how they managed to do some backstory,like pre-RE4 Leon and Krauser,where the main games lacked so bad (especially about Leon and Krauser rivalry in RE4) and it's a good trowback on games like Virtua Cop or House of the Dead.
Just this deserve credits that I didn't see that much from chat or in general,I never played it by my own but I will as soon as possible.These videos through the RE saga are gold and I will thank you again as I did on the previous videos.
You know what? This version of RE2 has a much better ending. I mean... The line from the remake about adoption was insanely weird.

It seemed like the camera was focusing on the nearest living zombie most time.
the main problem with the camera is that like many devs, they understand our heads bob when we walk, sway, etc, etc. But they immediately forget that our brain fiilters most of it out so we dont notice it. Fixing that makes all the walking/running/jumping parts better. The random camera shakes, looking at the ground, etc, either dont make sense or are for the "cinematic" look but it just hurts the gameplay more and should be heavily toned down. Like who the fuck stares at the ground when running. Lastly the camera needs to just look in a direction and stay that way unless the player manually adjusts it (assuming you still can like in UC), being forced to stare at a dead enemy as it falls to the ground or swapping which enemies the camera is focused on easily can make you take damage for no reason.
It also just doesn't work very well for ANY game that ranks you on scoring and how well you shoot while trying to survive during an earthquake apparently. Like critical hits in this game are already smaller than in UC. With the camera its just...not fun. This game is fine until you try to play it WELL. It's counter intuitive to FPS.

The ending Tofu mission here was hilarious! It makes me wonder why modders dont use the Tofu model in re2 original mods. Instead of a room of Brad zombies, why not Tofu zombies? 🤔
The shaky cam in this was what made Umbrella Chronicles superior to me
I didn't have to fight the camera to get headshots, grab items, tell what was going on, play without getting sick, etc.

It's good to hear Alyson Court as Claire again the new voice actress for Claire is okay in the remake but Alison Court will always be Claire Redfield.
I feel that way about Leon the RE4 Remake won't hit the same without him

So in the end the final boss is Plantasaurus Rex, got it. Still easier to get critical shots than umbrella which is amazing considering the camera shake

I think it would have been more fun to not worry about score and just play through it for the experience. The initial licker encounter would have been more interesting for example. Haven’t finished the video yet, though.

Love your content, Bawk! I can relate to growing up with RE in the household, and the impact it has had on my gaming over the years. This marathon slaps!
The retelling of RE2 are much superior compare to the remake, more faithful to the OG. The characters, the dialogues, the interactions, all screams 2000s RE era, the golden standard of RE imo. And the musics keep the modern retelling nostalgic. I like the character designs, consistent with other games in 2000s and early 2010s as they give RE unique look to the franchise as Japanese.
I am not a fan of how capcom retold the classic stories in these games but I am definetly a huge fan of the Operation Javier chapter for whatever reason, great work Bawk.
Was playing Subnautica while watching this, 4:36:30 the Nosferatu sounds so much like the leviathan in it that I was freaking the fuck out that I was about to get jumped. Shat myself... Subnautica is Top 10 horror.
I got this game as well. It's an good rail shooter I just wish the camera wouldn't shakes so much.

This might sound like I'm making an excuse, but the camera shaking wasn't as bad when using motion controls and a television that is further away from you than a computer monitor. I got the game when it originally came out, and while the camera shaking is something I dislike, when using a wii-mote and a big TV, it doesn't seem nearly as bad.

i got this on PS3 with move+sharpshooter, So for me there will always be a reason to play this game... at least until a VR port comes out, BTW what are you playing this on? PS3 with mouse? or Dolphin with mouse? this needs to be played with a motion control to be any good

I'm not a fan of railshooters but i feel like this game is pretty good but the camera is complete garbage. If there was a mod to completely remove all the random zooming and shaking it would be way better. I don't get motion sickness but it's just so annoying to look at with all that crap going on, definitely ruins the experience. Whoever came up with shaky cam is an idiot, it never looks good.

If you are looking for a better "on the rails shooter" try Vampire Night for the PS2. The camera alone is stable unlike in this game which is probably one of the reasons why I enjoyed the game so much growing up.
When your on-rails shooter camera shakes so much you can aim at the foot of a zombie on your screen and end up with a headshot on a zombie that was off-screen at that time.

What would you say is harder: emulating Wii games from your PC or setting up equipment to stream from a Wii? I could never imagine playing UC/DC with mouse+keyboard setup, I would just give up lol
I loved both Wii lightgun games. Neither is a 10/10 or anything, but they're in my top 10 Wii games along with RE4 (knifing is less boring on the wii).
I had play both Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles so I must say:
- UC has more weapons than DC, but the I prefer the upgrade system in DC
- Personally I think DC has better graphics than UC
- UC has more gameplay than DC, like the solo scenarios
I was looking forward to this, but the camera shake! (Totally not your fault.) I'll bear it though, I missed out on this at launch.

I feel like CVX og is almost silent hill in resident evil format. Crazy scary game the first time and the nosferatu boss is sick. If he was in SH it wouldn’t be surprised.
I did my best to watch this but I seriously was getting motion sick from watching this. If there was an option to turn off camera shake then would have been a lot better game but still fun to watch bawk play from the parts I could watch

I remember playing this one back in college and really liking it. I didn't play the first lightgun game so I don't have anything to compare it to but this was a really fun arcade-style romp that is a fun departure from the more standard, slow paced games in the series.

Despite the camera, what do you think of how CVX is treated in this game? I already heard your thoughts on the actual CVX so I wanted to know if the story/characters are better in this version (obviously its truncated to fit a very short version of it, but I am wondering if they went with these portrayals of the characters for a remake if it would be better in your opinion)?

The Airplane battle against the Training Tyrant was really epic in Code Veronica, I still love how they dialed up the awesomeness up to eleven in this retelling of the game and also gave some kind of heel face turn to poor Alexander Ashford

5:29:00 Those zombies have been in like almost every RE game lately though, they have either have no hitbox or are just immune until the player reaches the cutscene/ progress point that activates them usually after passing, interacting, or getting within grab range for a cheap attempt to make the player jump.
And it's not an even an earned jump.
It's not scaring the player it's startling the player with something that almost instantaneously does damage to them if they weren't already unloading on the damn thing when they reach it's activation point.
Can you imagine this game remade for a vr system?

Definitely much more fun to watch a youtube vid than it was to actually play for me.
The shaky-ass camera totally ruined it for me, and I was over it very quickly.
When I tried the game, my friend who wanted me to play with him gave me shit for not really wanting to play much more beyond the first level... and its refreshing to hear that the camera is ass from a professional streamer, because its like you're backing me up.
This was one of my favourite games for the wii
