  • I replaced my original rear b pillar 4x6 speakers with some pioneer ts-g460 4x6 as well as the front ones in the dash the people saying its to hard of a job or its not worth doing are completely wrong the difference is night and day and the plastics will not break if you just take your time and have a feel for them i rushed my last video on this issue hopefully this was better explained thanks and subscribe!!

    People... don't be discouraged when you hear someone say "this is hard" or "it's too much work." Instead, consider the source.
    The way to think about it is.
    "People do this, I can do this."

    I have a 89 Cheyenne so I didn’t get all the extra trim like the most c1500s did I only have a plastic cover on the rear speakers and that’s about it lol I’m trying to get that style of speaker cover that goes from the carpet all the way to the roof and the dome light cover and also the headliner. Hopefully it’s a direct swap. Thanks for the video

      hopefully it wasn't too difficult if one of the clip stays inside the metal slots of the truck thats completely okay because you can just grab some pliers take it out and slide it back on to the plastic trim piece before you install it the tricky part is trying not to snap the plastics.

    • @XxRaWtAwDxX
      @XxRaWtAwDxX 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I ended up snapping quite a bit of the plastic clips lol but luckily not the outer ones so it doesn't look any different sounds amazing though put some new Sony speakers in all 4 n a new Sony head unit glad I did it haha worth it for sure wayyyyy better than stock from 1990😂😂

      Yes I hear you and am doing that today 12/3/2019 @10:29Am I did the door speakers yesterday it was easy but I know doing the rear panels are not going to be , I Dread doing them but it must be done !!!! Unfortunately Because the old speakers sound like shit the last owner took very good care of the truck , but he didn't take care of the speakers but that's ok ,! I bought the Chevy 2005 Chevy 4x4 from a professional plumber witch had to have the truck ready to go at all hours of the night and weather ! It has some rush . I do dread doing the work Because it's cold out this is Illinois and those who live here in Illinois knows the weather here ( it suck's living in shifty and very crooked state of Illinois ! You all have a good one 😎

    Be careful with the T50. The proper one is a T47 as it fits down deeper. The T50 only gets to the very top of the bolt and buggers it up it it does not budge. Then again mine were rusted in place. had to heat. The Jack rod has a E torx I believe on it. I used two nuts on mine Jammed it because it was also rusted. I got a better one at the junkyard. Weird you have a screw on that clip. I don't have one. Maybe its why the panels creaked since new. The FORUMS are full of lazy people. So many don't even work on their own truck. You need to be careful in rear speaker selection some barely clear the plastics when installed. I forget what I used back there. Since Then I modified the stock radio and now it has a line in

      yeah I found that out with the first pair I bought they were some rockford fosgate 4x6's great quality built speaker but it was too big it didn't clear the plastic so I returned them and got the pioneer ones they work okay I'm getting some kicker panels later for more sound and installing some subwoofers in the truck as well ill do a video on that once I get around to it keep the videos coming man!!

      @@limitlesshorsepower4514 I know this is 4 years old now but I'm interested in those same Rockford Fosgate P1462 4X6 for the pillars as well as the dash. When you lined them up for the pillars you mention they were to big and didn't clear. Did it seem like it would take a hard time to modify them to fit? I'm also considering the Kicker DSC4604 for ease of installation. But if the Rockford's don't take to much modifying i prefer them. Tell me what you think.

    Is it just a plug and play type of speaker or did you need an adapter for the new speaker? I know on some speakers, it requires a cable adapter in order for it to plug in properly.

    • @limitlesshorsepower4514
      @limitlesshorsepower4514  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      i am currently working as a audio tech in most cases you can just cut the original wires, add your new terminals to the ends of the wire connect and re mount your speaker just be sure to check the polarity and your good, this was a simple swap i just cut my original speaker wires added my new terminals that i received along with my speakers re connected my speaker check the polarity re mounted and put everything back together but you can also buy adapters that connect to your original speaker plug and the ends of that connect to your new after market speaker if you don't want to cut your original speaker wires but I just found it easier to cut my wire add my ends and re mount my speakers at the time it all depends on what you prefer really

      check out www.crutchfield.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/ for the harnesses to keep your original wire, they should have what your looking for if you don't want to cut your original speaker wires

      I bought my first set of Polk db652 from Crutchfield . Those guys are great.
      They included the adapters for FREE.
      I even damaged one of them even though I was trying to be careful. When I posted my speaker review on Crutchfield and mentioned it, they sent me an email offering to send me another set for FREE !
      I'm much prefer sticking with the adapter pigtail to get a really good connection between your factory wiring and the speaker. I'm not saying twisting two wires together and putting electric tape on them won't work, I just feel better about it.
      Unfortunately, when I went back to order a another set of Polk's for the back doors, they were out of stock so I had to order them from Amazon.

    • @ginakerry2588
      @ginakerry2588 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those General Motors Clips are way overkill. I actually ripped the plastic on the door panel prying with a proper trim tool in the proper location. They're just that bad.
      They are available now on amazon.
      Grc- 11 is what it says on my bag. I purchased about 30 of them for like $7 .
      I might end up using a fair amount of them since I have four doors and I'm replacing speakers, door lock actuators, upgrading door lights to LEDs and replacing exterior and interior handles. Basically a complete rebuild and upgrade on each door. Will probably take multiple passes on some doors as I have to wait for some of the parts.
