We just purchased and installed the 36” from our local dealer. Sorry Embers but wanted to support our local store and thank you for showing this since they did not have one on display. It really helped in the decision making process. We purchased the optional 6” surround and the only issue is they are self tapping screws so it’s a bit of a challenge to install if your not somewhat of a handyman. We had the electrician install 240v option and it blows heat out both sides. We like how you can set the temperature while running the heater. I can’t hear the fan running at all. As for the appearance, this is by far the most realistic we have seen on display or from your reviews. Though it would be nice if the sound was a bit more pronounced on the highest setting. Thanks again!
I've owned the 42inch version for almost two months now, I figured I could answer some questions I keep seeing. Noise: Fan noise is noticeable but really only in a pretty quiet environment. It also quickly fades into the background unless you're trying to listen to it. App: The app is hands down the best way to use it, you can save your favorite configuration, but I've found the fire looks better with different settings in different lighting so I often change it depending on that. Kids love being able to change colors and mess with the settings. Oddly enough the colored flames looks more realistic to people and "trick" more of them. We had green flames on halloween and a couple guests had to double take it and ask about it. I suspect because it's so much less common to see colored flames we don't have as much to compare it too. Realism: As with any electric fireplace if you're analyzing it you will be able to tell it's fake. If you stare at a gas fireplace you could also just as easily focus on the "faux" parts of it. That said after seeing A LOT of electric fireplaces I'm confident this is the only one under 5k that gives you the ambiance of a traditional firebox the same way a gas fireplace would. Once you stop staring at every detail that indicates this is electric and just use it like a fireplace you quickly forget it's electric even to the point that myself and my family have walked up to it and rubbed our hands expecting radiant heat and have had moments of fear when a toddler walked up to it thinking for a second they might burn themselves. My overall takeaway is that this is real enough to fade into the background and give you most of the ambiance of a real fire and I think that's the whole point. As long as you're not relying on this for your main heat source it's awesome at delivering the vibes. Side note: Flame style two appears the most realistic to me as it is the lowest flame and allows the reflection of the logs to peak through the fire image the most.
We just bought the 36” unit from Embers and have not installed/hardwired in the wall yet. Using just the outlet the heat seems to blow out from just the top left side of the unit. When utilizing the full hard wired heat capacity’s, do both sides blow out hot air? Thanks for your very helpful review.
Saw the Orion in person. From a distance, you can easily tell it's a tv screen. The closer you get, the flatter it looks - no depth whatsoever. Look before you buy!
@@kellyw8017 Was it the orion slim or orion multi? I saw the slim in person and thought the same - looks like a TV. I wondered if the multi also lacks depth. The E-one on the other hand was by far the most realistic in the showroom I visited in Anaheim.
@@krissumikawa410 I'm not sure which Orion model. It appeared like the one in the video, but that may be because the dimensions were similar. It goes to show that it's worth a plane ticket to go to the closest showroom to see these in person if it's a higher priced model.
Yes! There will be 26″, 30″, 36″, 42″ and 54″. The 30" and 36" are expected to be available by end of this month and rest of sizes are expected to be available by next month.
In person, I saw two that were extremely realistic: British Fire's New Forest Electric and LEX Electric Fireplaces. If you go for the latter, I would be sure to get the model that allows for varying flame speeds. They aren't cheap, but it seems they were about the same price or cheaper than Orion. In person and in my opinion, Orion didn't look at all realistic; it looked like a TV screen. The first two mentioned above have a lot of depth.
How many amps is the Modern Flames Orion traditional 36. What size breaker does it need for the 240 volts. This will need its own line coming from my sub panel.
When you dial in your favorite setting in the App can you save it? I finally saw one in person and love it but I found the remote a bit frustrating. Also on the 36 does that need to be hard wired as well if you’re going to just use 120V not 240V?
You can save one preset setting, but right now you can't save like a playlist of them. I would love to be able to save a handful of preset configurations.
I think the yellow default all over is to tie the flames to the logs. In the real fires the flames come off the logs instead of showing behind them, but they’re also outside with more oxygen than in a fire place. I agree that 2 is a with darker logs is more realistic for what you’d see in an indoor fireplace.
What happened with the new optimyst? Is it in the show room with logs? I'd love a video- I need to know how the logs look and how to add water to the new one. Thanks!
I did not hear you mention if this fireplace has a heater, if so, I would like to have heard the heater fan blow, just to see what the sound level would be. Thanks
@@embersliving so are you saying it’s louder than others because it’s strong? I’m just wanting to know about what level of noise the fan blower makes on the heater?
Fan noise is noticeable if it's quiet, and right when you first turn it on but fades into the background. Really if there's any music, conversation, or tv sound at a normal volume you don't really hear the fan unless you're trying too.
I love watching your videos brother. I am in the market to buy an electric fireplace and based on your reviews I am leaning towards the dimplex ignite XL 100 inch. It has a 5 year warranty which I love. I leave in Orlando Fl however not sure if you guys can sell me a fireplace and send it to Orlando. I looked and there are a few distributors here which they dont charge me delivery. Let me know as I would love to talk to someone there.
Hello! The Dimplex Ignite XL is a great option. We have those in stock ready to ship and we ship for free. Feel free to call/txt us at (303) 800-5659. Thanks!
In my opinion, it's better to travel to a store that has numerous models that you can see in person. You may be shocked how different these fireplaces look live vs. in these videos.
Sorry, but this doesn't look even remotely real. ONLY if you re trying to kid yourself. Kind of like fake flowers, plants, etc vs real fresh flowers and plants. No comparison. So why bother?? Nothing can compare and never ever will to the REAL thing - fireplaces, flowers, plants. Better to do without than go fake, on anything. Otherwise you are just kidding yourself and that is just pointless.
You guys are great. Thank you!

Does it save the setting you like when you turn it on or off? Considering the 54” version of this.
I didnt notice I can test out today

I think it looks good especially in the dark

Any word on any updates coming as far as new flame patterns on the orion series?
Nothing yet
This is what I was wondering too. It can be wonderful to have the ABILITY to update, but you ACTUALLY have to do it
Just bought the Orion Multi for our new build few months ago… damn.
nooo

Oh man. This is even better than the Orion multi 😮
Yeah the flame looks great with that nice tall viewing area. Different shapes for different applications.

Why is the bed flickering like a strobe light with different colors? Maybe it's just me...
It's just the way the video camera captured the LED lighting. Doesn't flicker in person.
Can it be recessed?
Yep!
Is there a heat option ?
Yes all sizes have a 1,465w (5,000 BTU) capable heater. The 36", 42" and 54" models have the option to wire to 220v for up to 2,500w (8,3000 BTU)
They should be running at fast speed, slowing the flame down makes it look more fake.
I like both

The joys of PWM lighting.. that's why it's blinking so fast when you turn the brightness down. Mostly fine for your eyes. Nightmare for video!
