I would love to remove my gas fireplace and replace it with an electric fireplace, but the cost of running a dedicated circuit to the area makes it out of my reach. I still love to watch your videos, thank you!

Agree completely on the Inception. I'm a dealer in New Jersey, and when they sent out the first videos, we were really excited for it. When we got it in, not as much. From afar it's a great look, but when you get within 10 feet of it, totally loses the look. The Opti-V, we were at the National Convention maybe six or seven years ago, and they displayed a traditional one with a huge viewing area and said it was coming, but never heard a single thing about it after. Was disappointing. Enjoyed your video taking us through the years. Cheers.

The main issue is COST TO RUN. Electricity as a heating unit has always been more expensive to run than gas or wood.

Awesome video. I saw some great-looking videos of the Inception, but couldn’t help wondering where the illusion worked well in person, where your eye will note the discrepancy in the perspective of the image on the screen more, rather than on video where depth cues are lost. Haven’t seen anyone mention that the illusion isn’t as powerful in person, so I really appreciate you noting it!

Here in Ireland I have no choice but to buy an electric fireplace.
I'm renting from our council and nearly two years ago they removed my fireplace. I had central heating and I could burn fossil fuel like coal , turf or wood.
But where my fireplace was is a flat blank wall.
I wouldn't class those rectangle shaped things as a fireplace though. They're rectangular in the wrong direction.
My fireplace was taller than it was wide. A square shape electric fire would be closer to what I'm looking for.
I really like that fire you have under your TV though.
But wouldn't it kind of make sense to have an LCD screen inside the fireplace with a video of fire playing on the screen.
I don't need the fireplace to heat my room. I just want it to simulate the look of having a fireplace in my room.

Personally, if I can’t have real fire (and in CA, with no wood-burning fireplaces allowed and gas prices skyrocketing, I can’t), I want a pretty, mesmerizing light show that doesn’t pretend to be fire. But then, I’m mostly looking for something to fill in for the real fireplace so that I can still have a gorgeous tile surround for my Craftsman style house, and the contractor’s trying to talk me out of just sticking a tv screen in there and playing a video when I want to see fire.

The E-one is impressive and I'm very likely to get one. However, I feel like the framerate is too low (maybe 25 Hz, being that it's European) and the sound is embarrassingly bad. No reason that, for 8-10+k (for the bigger ones), they cannot have top notch sound that is totally realistic.
Agree with you on radiant heat. I have cove heaters and radiant ceiling panels throughout my home to augment my minisplits and they're great. I wonder if it's a liability thing on having a burn hazard on an electric fireplace (like somehow it's different than a gas fireplace). Wonder if a heated glass is possible using embedded resistance wires (like heated windshields have)?

Why are the majority of electric Fireplaces in this weird Wide format, no real fire place has that shape, this is for me the issue with Electric Fireplaces, when you rule these out there is not much option left. The best looking one was blocked from view @16:30. Real fire format and has the feeling of depth.

You have your base board let’s say 72 inches , what do stoping us to run it true box with fake fire , and just a fan ? That’s way you can run just flames if you like and it will heat up when you kick your thermostat , no electricity and no gas ?! I do reserve the right to patent it first if you guys ever decide to produce one . This actually make perfect sense to me . Unless it’s already exist .

electric fireplaces are glorified space heaters. they just dont output enough heat. fireplace is to heat, not for show. It's limited by power source. 110/120 just not enough. MAYBE if you have a 220/240 but most wont have that without additional labor and renovation to run a dedicated line. Honestly you are paying for looks and what looks better and what looks realistic with any electric fireplaces. Because the actual heating performance are all the same whether you get a no name amazon cheap one or those expensive ones because again its limited by the 110/120 power.
