The trick with the logs in the ceiling and the reflection is a very old magician’s trick called, “Pepper’s Ghost.” It’s most commonly known for its use in the Haunted Mansions in the Disney Parks in the banquet scene when you look down into the dining room and see the transparent ghosts waltzing and eating at the table.
All I know is I want a fireplace that looks like real flames and you do the best job at explaining it and you have funny stories they're lucky to have you in my opinion

However in the video reviewing the Ignite you say that at the end you will give an overview with the lights turned on to show the reflection in the Ignite, but apparently you forgot doing this. So, is this really a big con for this fireplace? When installing this Ignite right under the tv and sitting right in front of it, will we see ourselves sitting in the backpanel? Even in a dark room, there will always be some light due to the television and some mood lightning, or even due to the fireplace itself. Or is this reflection negligible? Thanks.

@@embersliving Just to be clear - both the Prism and Ignite XL are made by Dimplex, right? In the 50" models, there's nearly a $1K price difference and I'm trying to decided whether or not it's worth the extra money.
Opti-V for me please...In my opinion it is the only one that looks realistic..I noticed the duplicate flame/screen but who's to say they can't make a solid single screen to beat the duplicate look...and add other flames and sounds etc..At the price of the OV it should have been built to spec and slow rolled through R&D untill it was 100% rather than making it feel like a rushed finished product..The Myst is neat but once I saw it was vapor that did it for me.. all I could focus on was the fact that I now knew it was vapor and vapor is not a flame. Neat looking but meh. The last option you gave was great and pretty typically of what I have seen in my search for an insert. I'm ok with the stones, the odd flame pattern and the eye burning throb of the "faux flame".. i just can see it in a no tell motel mounted Infront of a Champagne glass shaped hot tub and vibrating bed... Oh the nightmares.. Just not for me I could deal with it but

worse warranty basically. Its the same thing, but it was a trial that dimplex private labeled with a retailer. They have sense stopped so once that inventory is depleted you won't have it anymore

It's really hard to justify those prices without seeing them in person first. Thank you for this great content. It is the most helpful that I've found. 👍

I think you did not mention couple of points on Ignite - 1) Lot of "empty" black space.. it only fills the bottom half of the screen 2) Flames color cannot be changed... it is only orange.. although bed color can be changed as you showed

For Opti-myst you are using in this TH-cam, what are the options you are using as far as logs The same with Opti-V, what are the options you are using. I like the look but I do not know the options I need to pick when I go to your web-site to order

no, they will be having a new 12" deep model, but I honestly was not too impressed with it. The ignite XL is here to stay for awhile

For Opti-myst you are using in this TH-cam, what are the options you are using as far as logs The same with Opti-V, what are the options you are using. I like the look but I do not know the options I need to pick when I go to your web-site to order

This will provide heat. Not as much as a normal fireplace, but its probably the best of the electric with heat.
I want to put an electric fireplace in a spot that is only 32" wide. Would prefer one that is open on 3 sides. Love the look of the Opti-Myst and Opti-V. Is there a solution for me?

I love the Opti series, however it sounds like the biggest is 60". My TV is a 75" so I would like something that is slightly bigger. Are there any other realistic fireplaces available like the Opti that are longer?
you could do the opti myst cassettes and build your own box, it could be 80"
