    Good job with what you have done and explained to customer, im not picking faults one bit but incase your interested Ive done similar jobs in the past and the way ive done it is to run a full length of skirting along the bottom (obviously need to build a frame to attach it too)
    And start the bottom of the doors from the top edge of the skirting so then you dont have any joins in the skirting. Yes you have to lift things over the skirting to get it into the cupboard but aesthetically it looks better on the eye.

      Hi :-)
      Yes this was discussed with them but she wasnt keen on the idea of the skirting being 6inches tall and getting in and out of that tight space, esp with hoovers and scooters etc.
      I think maybe on bigger doors it may have been the way to go, but possibly not on these 2 small doors and withing the budget.
      I do appreciate your ideas though thank you :-)

    I understand that people might not think this is upto your usual standards ,which are very high and are a credit to both Sean and yourself.But i appreciate the fact that you are a good bussiness man who gave the coustomer what he/she wanted given the time and financial constraints placed upon you.I think this was an excellent video and i really enjoyed it !! it highlights the fact that both Sean and youself are very adaptable !! well done have a nice weekend

      Hello Michael,
      Thank you so much for the nice message!!!
      You make a good point, we arw guided by what the customer wants most of the time, and on this occasion it was this design and a budget to go by.
      To make a full under stairs unit would of been substantially more, so she opted for this route :-)
      Thanks again michael as always!

    Thanks for the video, I’ve read your comments to previous questions/comments. Not every job is going to be a show stopper but if it’s what the customer wants and it’s on a budget then the job is what it is 👏👏

      Thank you!!!
      Sorry for the late reply too :-)
      Exactly, this one wasnt the best looking job ive ever done, but it did improve after painting.
      But its always down to what the customer wants isnt it, like specs and mainly budget...
      Thanks for the message maty!!

    Very good and demanding job! The result may not seem very bulky, but anyone who knows about this kind of work understands how much time and effort is needed to do something like this. Here in Greece this kind of work is not always well paid even though there is a demand from customers. I wonder in Great Britain if the same happens...

      Hi!!
      Yep its quite labour intensive and kind of make it up as you go along, but I will take these on every now and then...
      Not my fave job but all doable :-)

    I usually really like the work both of you lads do, particularly the quality and detailing. I expect this job is down to a tight budget, which would probably explain why I just don’t think it looks right and certainly not up to your usual standard. Hope these comments do not offend in any way.

      Hi, thank you very much, it's really appreciated!!
      Yes, this particular job was all about making an opening on a budget whilst trying to keep the skirting detail.
      It wasn't ideal with the skirting but it worked and the mitres and cuts were explained to the customer, along with the overall look which would need decorating after.
      Plus, some old bits some new bits. Overall it is what the customer asked, to be able to access the right hand of the space by adding a door.
      But no, I totally appreciate your comment and thank you so much for adding it 👍👍👍
      Thanks
      Ryan 😊

      Totally understand Ryan, it’s just that in circumstances like this the customer is asking you to do things in a way that you would never normally do. Although it achieves the desired solution, it’s your name on the work and after you have gone, there is no way of explaining this to anyone looking at it.
      Maybe I am overthinking this? Anyway, keep on producing these videos. They are always interesting and enjoyable.

      @tomhayden2497 anybody that looks at ryan or your other work will know what you're capable of. Every custom has a budget and what they're willing to spend. An experienced carpenter can approach a job in multiple ways depending on the budget

    • @tomhayden2497
      @tomhayden2497 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joseph7105 thank you. If you read my posts and replies, the point I was trying to make was that whatever the budget constraints, it is Ryan’s name on the work and after he has finished and moved on, no can explain why things were done in a certain way and anyone looking at the work can easily form a wrong opinion or conclusion. As a cabinet maker I have had over sixty years of problems relating to budget constraints and the solution is always in the detailing.

    • @joseph7105
      @joseph7105 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tomhayden2497 yes what I was trying to say is I think most people would blame the budget and not the carpenter when they see your work, especially if they already know how long you've been at it and the quality of your other work. isn't worth stressing over either way or thinking too much about. get paid, move on, and get back to your regular clientele
