This was such a fun shoot Lee! I really like all the direction and feedback you give to the model
🙏🏼 Sarah was great to work with. First time shooting with her and she crushed it
Bro, you give some of the best directions to the model that I’ve seen. I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos.
Personally I wish this was a rangefinder style camera like an XE camera
Man your shoot concepts are always dope 🔥
I feel envious of the shoot concept: the colors, lighting, textures, model, the use of the space with poses... everything is SO, SO ...deliciously good!! I'm inspired to check out more of your videos. I'm so impressed with this shoot!
Appreciate it 🙌🏼
Great video man, as always. 👍🏽
Great video, stunning model 😍😱
Yeah Sarah crushed it. First time shooting with her and not the last!
Lee is the Best! Thanks for the nice video and great photos 🎉
Thanks for watching
Wow amazing pictures and awesome performance of that camera
Love every element of this shoot
🙏🏼 thanks Mark
@@LeeZavitz I'm curious how you see Sigma 28-45 1.8 lens
I just received it on Friday. To clarify, you can save seven custom settings (recipes). You then turn the film similation dial to C. Then program the back dial to custom settings, and you can quickly run through your recipes. So much fun.
Do you recommend it?
It’s my dream camera. I mainly use my camera for personal/travel, and some projects with my church. My priority for the camera is that it is compact. I don’t want to be seen lugging around a big camera. I feel that the larger cameras intimidate people quite a bit and you don’t get the right shot. I don’t shoot a ton of video, but when I do, I enjoy having Ibis and using Eterna as my film simulation; it comes out to look really professional, especially if you know what you’re doing with lighting and stuff like that. I also sometimes shoot in f - log. I own the X100 VI and I find that this is going to pair really well with that one. Do I recommend it, yes if you’re looking for a compact camera and you want to do some extra stuff with a video because it could definitely run video pretty well. As of now, I love the film simulation dial.
@@johnnydee7480do you have insta page so can see sample photos?
@@samker8530
Look at any picture taken with the X-T5, it's the same output as the X-T50. There will be plenty of X-T5 pictures. Same for the X100VI.
Same sensor, same processor. Lenses used of course will differ.
Hi ! Between this and the x100vi what would you recommend ? It's my first camera and i would use it for travel and sometimes to shoot some videos, thanks!
It can exist. However, the biggest issue is its insanely high price. A few hundreds more and you can get an XT5. Not sure why Fuji placed it in such pricing range.
I’m just curious what everyone thinks because you also have the xs20. Sure it’s not 40mp but it’s arguably the better hybrid option. For a few hundred more you are into the xt5. I dunno. This camera should be priced closer to $1100 imo.
@@LeeZavitzi definitely agree with you. fuji is throwing odd camera pricing again out there. 😑
Unfortunately It can’t exist for doing Pro work. Even squeezing a micro SD, (second card slot) would have helped persuade but the fact you cant customize the film simulation dial limits this to only a fun weekend camera
@@LeeZavitz Yep, exactly that. Also, I have an X-T30 as a more casual/documenting camera, I don't know that I would want to use smth that has 40MP for that. As I put in my comment above, if I were to choose the X-T50 over the X-T5 whatever savings I get would be wiped by having to upgrade to a new version of my photo editing software, and I'd still be missing out on some nifty X-T5 features.
Fuji sees the XT50 as a more photo centric version of the XS20, which directly competes with the a6700, so that dictates the price, I guess. I’d still pick function over form and go with the XS20 instead. They will drop anyway, XS20 and a6700 already dropped quite a bit, so Fuji and Sony are just adding some cushion for cashbacks and discounts by starting a bit higher.
That was a very nice shoot, Sarah is very beautiful and charismatic and somehow I always think your photographer skills are sublimed on Fujifilm camera for some reason! :) I had the XT30 before, and this one seems to be on the continuation of it but the price tag is way too ridiculous, it's a no brainer to get the xt5 (unless you need a smaller body, but the xt5 is not that big anyway), for me it's xs20 all the way!
Thank you for this video and showing what this camera can do. I know many folks don’t like the SIM dial but I really enjoy it. It’s become part of my photo composition which suites me well. I really like the smaller footprint and the roundness of the camera. I wish it had weather sealing. I’m ok with not paying +$300 for the bigger more professional XT5. I used the savings to help fund the purchase of a lovely prime lens.
It’s not that I don’t like the sim dial. I just can’t think of a time where I would be switching through different ones often. Usually I would stick between 2 and even then I dont switch it mid shoot. But that’s just me! I realize everyone has their own thing and if its changing sims during a shoot that’s cool 👍🏼
Stunning !!!!!!!
Great masterclass in professional shooting and modelling. Useful view on XT50 too - I am tempted but it would be a toy / casual camera
You're sooo awesome!!! ❤
Heey amazing video! Where can I get your presets? The link in the description doesn’t work anymore
Thanks for the great video! Do you know if I can shoot in raw and then apply different simulations/recipes in a photo editing app? Instead of making all adjustments on the camera itself.
Yeah in Lightroom you can put the film simulation on after.
Very nice ❤😎
Great video. You are a pro.
The camera on the other hand. I think that if fuji wouldve found a way to stick the new bigger battery in there, this camera would be stellar
The extra depth for the battery would make it an X-T5 🙂
I always carry a couple of extra charged batteries for the 126 battery cameras.
No ISO dials on the XTx0 cameras.
nice video, i'm currently shooting with an x-pro3 but want to move to something newer with better auto focus and already have a few lenses but I feel the X-T5 is a bit too much for what I do. In comes the X-T50 and... it's great and all but as others have mentioned, at this price point why not just go all out and get the X-T5? I'm torn
I’m in the same situation! I’m selling my xpro 3 looking to get something different I was looking at the medium formats and this or the xt5.
@guicane
All about size and weight. If you want something that little bit larger, then the X-T5 is it. If you don't, then the X-T50, if you don't absolutely need to X-T5 additional specs.
I feel like it could've been the perfect camera had they added a flip LCD screen. Aside from that, this might be one of the most aesthetically pleasing compositions I've ever watched!
Loved this shoot, Lee. The hair rollers! The 70's! Orange! That was my time. I prefer the X-T5 for so many reasons (battery, dual cards, ISO dial, etc). That filtered light was amazing.
Appreciate it. I was born in the 80s but it would have been cool to grow up in the 70s haha. Thanks for watching
The model and you did a very good shooting, and I like the results very much.
I don't need nor appreciate the left simulation dial, but it doesn't bother me. I do appreciate the small battery. 1st of all because I don't have to buy new batteries or charger, the on of my "old" x-t30 fit.
And no, I don't want a x-t5, to big and heavy for me.
By the way I NEVER make video ;-)
Talking about video, your is good, good job. Thanks.
Yeah I’m sure this camera is perfect for a lot of people! I’m merely just giving my opinion on it and what I would want.
Good video, but Hi, The XTxx cameras have never had an ISO dial, the Film Simulation dial replaced the drive dial (which how often do you change that that it requires a dial)
I'd always prefer an ISO dial, but it is not a deal breaker, and changing film simulation is fun (I know i use the control ring on the X100 VI to change film sim)
Yeah my bad, In the moment when i was talking about it I was thinking of the xt5. But you are right it was the drive mode dial
Plzzzz review s 24 plus if possible
Are the silver parts of the x-t50 (and especially the popup flash cover) made of metal or plastic?
Metal
@@LeeZavitzyou disappointed him. That was “ a deal breaker “.
Biggest advantage over T5 is the integrated flash light. Somehow is same camera as T5 on near same price, a range style camera like x-E1 would be the biggest reason to buy new one.
Yeah, I'm looking for upgrading my X-E3 for travels and I feel like Fuji is giving us impossible puzzle. I would love integrated flash and screen that I can turn to take selfie with my GF but only X-S20 got this. But then its not retro styled. X-E4 has flip down screen but lacks flash and is impossible to buy. Frustrating ;s
Hello Lee,
Those of us who use Fuji cameras often have trouble with autofocus. Can you take the time to make a video on this topic?
Thanks, Lee!
List of internal zoom lenses from fuji (kinda unique): 8-16 f/2.8, 10-24 f/4, 16-50 f/2.8-4.3, 18-120 f/4, 50-140 f/2.8, 150-600 f/5.6-8
🔥🔥🔥
Yayaya
I think not being able to save custom recipes to the three preset positions on that top dial was a missed opportunity. That might just have made the recipe dial worthwhile, but without that, the dial is wasted IMHO.
want to see a video of yours with a leica q3
I would be much more interested in the lens for street photography. Considering that it’s 2.8 to 4.8, I would wonder if you could just leave it at 2.8. To help get more Bokeh or blurred background? At F2.8 would the camera automatically go to 4.8? For the telephoto end.
Yeah so at 16mm if you set it to f2.8 as you zoom the lens will stop down to f4.8. At 35mm it’s already at f4 and then goes up from there as you reach 50mm
Boy oh boy !
@LeeZavitz I'm curious how you see Sigma 28-45 1.8 lens
I have never tried it. I don’t have any contacts at sigma. It looks huge though. it’s the fullframe version of the legendary 18-35f1.8 for apsc. I’m sure it’s awesome, just big
@@LeeZavitz 35-150 is heavier...huge...and no one complained as much after using it
@@strippedlistTrue. But the range makes up for it. It’s basically a telephoto lens which is usually big so I don’t think many people complain
Yes, because it's the only interchangeable camera they have as an aps-c brand that is smaller than the Canon R8 full frame and close to the a7CR full frame.
We need small camera options.
Will this cam do slow motion?
Yes. 240fps in 1080p
of course I realize that for real serious professional work you need to use different camera, this is more for fun for casual photography for travel because it's small compact but for a 1 second let's put aside all this things what do you think can you use this camera for professional work let's say for portrait photography for landscape photography or food photography?
this is probably marketed towards people that want a compact version of the xt5. So it can be used for pretty much anything. Even if you wanted it as a 2nd body for backup with your xt5. I think my issue is the price and I’m thinking in Canadian dollars. It’s almost $1900 I would probably rather spring for an xt5 for the extra few hundred more
Awesome video once again Lee but i feel that all Fuji cameras are over priced now thanks to the ever increasing popularity of their x100 v and vi cameras..fuji used to be budget friendly previously..not anymore..their prices are inching towards semi pro level full frame cameras which seems absurd for a crop sensor with mediocre auto focusing capabilities
Well, there are zero 40mp, 6k opengate, 240p FHD full frame hybrid cameras even close to this price range.
@sunilnair5681
For those on a budget the X-T30II remains a current model.
ClassicPorts 2? 👀👀
I’ve been teasing them in a few shoots. Still dialing them in. Hope to have them ready end of August!
I think the new Film Simulation dial replaces the old Drive dial and not ISO. At least that's how the XT20 and XT30 were set up. I believe you're thinking of the single digit XT3, 4, and 5 which have the ISO dial there. I agree that the film sim dial is unnecessary and would prefer the old set up with the Drive dial on the left.
Yeah in the moment I was thinking of the xt5. I have been corrected many times now haha. My bad, but even a drive dial is better than a film sim dial imo
Great to see a review done by an actual photographer. I think I would take the x s20 over this even for photography.
The X-S20 has a PASM dial, huge grip, flip out LCD and only 26mpix. I'd prefer the X-T50.
@@JackBurton-qp4hc only 26mpixel. Made me laugh ! Exactly why I said actual photographer.
@@r423sdex
The X-S20 has 26mpix specifically for video use. It is a faster readout sensor coupled with the latest X-Trans processor. It is why the X-S20 is aimed at videographers and hybrid shooters.
Had it been a stills focused camera, it would have had the 40mpix as with every other later Fuji. Not sure what your point about "actual photographer" is, as actual photographers use many types of sensors, differing resolutions and sizes.
Actually, what the film simulation dial replaced was the drive mode dial. That being said, I really think that Fuji would do well to go Sony's route (from the a7 IV onwards I believe) and just replace the exposure compensation dial with the ISO dial. Exposure compensation can be set on the front or back dials already, and I don't know many ppl who use that. Finally, it's weird that film simulations cannot be mapped to either the front or back dials... anyway makes no sense. Agree that this is a weird camera, right now getting the slightly more expensive X-T5 means many more features (including the double-tilt screen), not a lot more weight, and I get to keep the current version of my photo editing software (which if I were to upgrade would wipe out the 'savings' from getting the X-T50 instead).
Ah you are correct. I had to go look at a photo of the xt30 to confirm. I guess when I was sitting there thinking about the filmsim dial I was thinking xt5 iso in my mind. But you are right. It was the drive mode dial.
@@LeeZavitz But anyway I still generally agree with what you said...
4k 60p crop??
Film simulation dial never was ISO dial on lower end X-Txx cameras. It was drive dial. Only higher end cameras have ISO dial. However it would be cool if they left it customizable like X-S20
Yeah I realized after I uploaded the video. I was thinking of xt5 in the moment. My bad
Great camera, but I'd probably I'd just go for the xt-5 for not that much more, no?
No.
Dona Florinda 😍
Nice shots. Photos look like photos from every other Fuji camera the past 5-6 years though. These camera companies just love redundancy I guess. Nothing new or exciting like ever. I do however like that film simulation dial from the Instax Mini 99, interesting to see them take something from one of their instant cameras. Now if they would just give us a hybrid Instax camera with REAL film simulations and a proper sensor, Id be all over that.
What are you talking about? Those are edited and not sooc lol. Ofc Fuji photos will look like Fuji tf you expect?
dumdum dial stopped me buying this camera. Little heartbreaking as I was so pumped to get it. Great shots tho...
I get what they are doing. Gotta give it to them that they aren’t afraid to try new things (xpro3 screen) I dunno if people love it or hate it. I just don’t think most people change film sims that often? 🤷🏻♂️
@@LeeZavitz yea they'll probably sell the crap out of it. Kinda makes it even more annoying tbh...
*cries into the evf of my xt20
**fondles the d-pad for comfort
Fuji will be heartbroken you are not getting one. I’m sure they will sell plenty, mine is on the way.
@@r423sdex sick, you're gonna be able to flick it into sepia mode so fast bro!
I’d just get a used XT5 if I wanted another Fuji. I think I’m good with the X100VI & XS20 right now. lol
Thanks for that. This information is so helpful.
Patrick Renna
I’ve always thought Fuji made too many camera models, I would rather them focus on auto focus and making their cameras better overall!
What would the line up be? I’m thinking it should go like this x100vi, xs20, xt5, xh2s, and then just 2 GFX models maybe
@@LeeZavitz if you they could replace the lens on the x100 line with a compact zoom, it'll sell like hot cakes
@@richbrook101 more like Leica dlux 8
@@richbrook101mmm it’s already sold out for generations 😂
@richbrook101 that's a canon g1x iii
They should have just dumped those resources into manufacturing the X100VI to get more units out. Just got an email saying my day 1 pre-order in black is not expected to ship until October. What the what?
that’s wild!
That’s nonsense !
IMHO, camera makers are just churning cameras out to keep production lines going regardless of if they really needed to exist or not.
‼️A nice camera. I would buy it if it hasn't the film simulation wheel. This is a toy for Instagram people...
p.s. the price for the X-T50 body in Switzerland is actual sFr. 1250.- (€ 1240.-) in Interdiscount shop.
Drivel !
How are you able to get such great autofocus? It seems like everyone else on TH-cam is complaining about Fuji's autofocus.
Everyone is complaining? I’ve not had too many issues. I’ve said this a million times but I feel like Fujis autofocus performance comes down to the lens you are using. A lot of them perform horribly in video but decent in photo. So when it comes to video autofocus you will see a lot of variation on how it performs especially if it’s something moving fast
I’m tempted to go to Fuji from Sony but then I see all of the Fuji autofocus videos 😅
@@LeeZavitzapparently there’s been a firmware bug lately which led to eye autofocus showing correct focusing but missing in reality. It’s been fixed with the new update, but of course everyone lost their mind over it for like 3 weeks.. 😄
Learn to use a camera, before you start flip flopping gear.
Excellent overview, but not buying into this gimmicky toy camera; it wouldn't be suitable for me - I have hands the size of shovels; the battery pack is far too small, particularly if you're going to shoot in 6K, & the 'Film Simulation' dial is a waste of time; if you want a 35mm 'feel, then shoot analogue, it's that simple. Way overpriced for what it is, Lee.....
So it's a "gimmicky toy camera" because of your hands.
No, it's still a plaything , irrespective of the size of my hands - but certainly, the controls do not cater to my hand size; I mention that as an aside. It's an expensive toy, Mr. Burton.
@@andrewtongue7084
Ah so you can't afford it. Hence it is an, "expensive toy".
@@JackBurton-qp4hc right?! the world is gimmicky unless it fits me! Just ridiculous lmao

Indeed I don't understand this attitude that if a product isn't aimed at "me" then it must be somehow wrong. Bizarre!
