@@LeeZavitz Yep, exactly that. Also, I have an X-T30 as a more casual/documenting camera, I don't know that I would want to use smth that has 40MP for that. As I put in my comment above, if I were to choose the X-T50 over the X-T5 whatever savings I get would be wiped by having to upgrade to a new version of my photo editing software, and I'd still be missing out on some nifty X-T5 features.
Fuji sees the XT50 as a more photo centric version of the XS20, which directly competes with the a6700, so that dictates the price, I guess. I’d still pick function over form and go with the XS20 instead. They will drop anyway, XS20 and a6700 already dropped quite a bit, so Fuji and Sony are just adding some cushion for cashbacks and discounts by starting a bit higher.

Hello Lee and thanks a lot for your videos which are always great. Do you recommended the 16-50 or a 18mm 1.4 and 35mm F2 kit for a beginner photographer? Thanks a lot
Good video, but Hi, The XTxx cameras have never had an ISO dial, the Film Simulation dial replaced the drive dial (which how often do you change that that it requires a dial) I'd always prefer an ISO dial, but it is not a deal breaker, and changing film simulation is fun (I know i use the control ring on the X100 VI to change film sim)
Actually, what the film simulation dial replaced was the drive mode dial. That being said, I really think that Fuji would do well to go Sony's route (from the a7 IV onwards I believe) and just replace the exposure compensation dial with the ISO dial. Exposure compensation can be set on the front or back dials already, and I don't know many ppl who use that. Finally, it's weird that film simulations cannot be mapped to either the front or back dials... anyway makes no sense. Agree that this is a weird camera, right now getting the slightly more expensive X-T5 means many more features (including the double-tilt screen), not a lot more weight, and I get to keep the current version of my photo editing software (which if I were to upgrade would wipe out the 'savings' from getting the X-T50 instead).
Ah you are correct. I had to go look at a photo of the xt30 to confirm. I guess when I was sitting there thinking about the filmsim dial I was thinking xt5 iso in my mind. But you are right. It was the drive mode dial.
I think the new Film Simulation dial replaces the old Drive dial and not ISO. At least that's how the XT20 and XT30 were set up. I believe you're thinking of the single digit XT3, 4, and 5 which have the ISO dial there. I agree that the film sim dial is unnecessary and would prefer the old set up with the Drive dial on the left.
Yeah in the moment I was thinking of the xt5. I have been corrected many times now haha. My bad, but even a drive dial is better than a film sim dial imo

Thanks for the great video! Do you know if I can shoot in raw and then apply different simulations/recipes in a photo editing app? Instead of making all adjustments on the camera itself.
You have a price difference of about 23%. Many people are looking for a simple and cheapest body with a high-resolution sensor. X-T50 is the cheapest camera with a 40 Mpix sensor and high stabilization ;)
of course I realize that for real serious professional work you need to use different camera, this is more for fun for casual photography for travel because it's small compact but for a 1 second let's put aside all this things what do you think can you use this camera for professional work let's say for portrait photography for landscape photography or food photography?
this is probably marketed towards people that want a compact version of the xt5. So it can be used for pretty much anything. Even if you wanted it as a 2nd body for backup with your xt5. I think my issue is the price and I’m thinking in Canadian dollars. It’s almost $1900 I would probably rather spring for an xt5 for the extra few hundred more
I would be much more interested in the lens for street photography. Considering that it’s 2.8 to 4.8, I would wonder if you could just leave it at 2.8. To help get more Bokeh or blurred background? At F2.8 would the camera automatically go to 4.8? For the telephoto end.
Yeah so at 16mm if you set it to f2.8 as you zoom the lens will stop down to f4.8. At 35mm it’s already at f4 and then goes up from there as you reach 50mm
great review as always, what the différence on the 3 custom preset save on the film sim dial ? Can you create a "recipe customising a film look" and save it ? I don't really understand what is possible with this custom button Thank you

Nice shots. Photos look like photos from every other Fuji camera the past 5-6 years though. These camera companies just love redundancy I guess. Nothing new or exciting like ever. I do however like that film simulation dial from the Instax Mini 99, interesting to see them take something from one of their instant cameras. Now if they would just give us a hybrid Instax camera with REAL film simulations and a proper sensor, Id be all over that.

Excellent overview, but not buying into this gimmicky toy camera; it wouldn't be suitable for me - I have hands the size of shovels; the battery pack is far too small, particularly if you're going to shoot in 6K, & the 'Film Simulation' dial is a waste of time; if you want a 35mm 'feel, then shoot analogue, it's that simple. Way overpriced for what it is, Lee.....
No, it's still a plaything , irrespective of the size of my hands - but certainly, the controls do not cater to my hand size; I mention that as an aside. It's an expensive toy, Mr. Burton.
Everyone is complaining? I’ve not had too many issues. I’ve said this a million times but I feel like Fujis autofocus performance comes down to the lens you are using. A lot of them perform horribly in video but decent in photo. So when it comes to video autofocus you will see a lot of variation on how it performs especially if it’s something moving fast
@@LeeZavitzapparently there’s been a firmware bug lately which led to eye autofocus showing correct focusing but missing in reality. It’s been fixed with the new update, but of course everyone lost their mind over it for like 3 weeks.. 😄

of course I realize that for real serious professional work you need to use different camera, this is more for fun for casual photography for travel because it's small compact but for a 1 second let's put aside all this things what do you think can you use this camera for professional work let's say for portrait photography for landscape photography or food photography?
this is probably marketed towards people that want a compact version of the xt5. So it can be used for pretty much anything. Even if you wanted it as a 2nd body for backup with your xt5. I think my issue is the price and I’m thinking in Canadian dollars. It’s almost $1900 I would probably rather spring for an xt5 for the extra few hundred more
Myth. You can also do a professional photo session with the X-T50.
Stunning !!!!!!!
Boy oh boy !
Which do you prefer for portrait stills t50 or a6700?
Both will get the job done. A6700 has better autofocus but xt50 has higher res sensor
@@LeeZavitz I dont like Sony's skin colours as Fujifilm but it would fix on Lightroom i guess
great review as always, what the différence on the 3 custom preset save on the film sim dial ? Can you create a "recipe customising a film look" and save it ?
I don't really understand what is possible with this custom button
Thank you
you can’t add custom recipes just change up the common film sims you use
@@LeeZavitz ok but custom recipe is always base on film sims ? so what tthe point to the 2 custom option on the film dial ? the film dial has not all the film recipe in it so we can add 2 more on the custom dial ? Sorry about my english:p
You're sooo awesome!!! ❤
What are you talking about? Those are edited and not sooc lol. Ofc Fuji photos will look like Fuji tf you expect?
Will this cam do slow motion?
Yes. 240fps in 1080p
dumdum dial stopped me buying this camera. Little heartbreaking as I was so pumped to get it. Great shots tho...
I get what they are doing. Gotta give it to them that they aren’t afraid to try new things (xpro3 screen) I dunno if people love it or hate it. I just don’t think most people change film sims that often? 🤷🏻♂️
@@LeeZavitz yea they'll probably sell the crap out of it. Kinda makes it even more annoying tbh...
*cries into the evf of my xt20
**fondles the d-pad for comfort
Fuji will be heartbroken you are not getting one. I’m sure they will sell plenty, mine is on the way.
@@r423sdex sick, you're gonna be able to flick it into sepia mode so fast bro!
ClassicPorts 2? 👀👀
I’ve been teasing them in a few shoots. Still dialing them in. Hope to have them ready end of August!

Do you really like the 16-50 lens?
It’s decent, I think I still prefer the older 18-55 tbh, it also has OIS
want to see a video of yours with a leica q3
4k 60p crop??
Does Fujifilm ever have photographers provide feedback before putting these on the market
I assume so, but they never ask me lol
Very nice ❤😎
IMHO, camera makers are just churning cameras out to keep production lines going regardless of if they really needed to exist or not.
Plzzzz review s 24 plus if possible
I’d just get a used XT5 if I wanted another Fuji. I think I’m good with the X100VI & XS20 right now. lol
Thanks for that. This information is so helpful.
@LeeZavitz I'm curious how you see Sigma 28-45 1.8 lens
I have never tried it. I don’t have any contacts at sigma. It looks huge though. it’s the fullframe version of the legendary 18-35f1.8 for apsc. I’m sure it’s awesome, just big
@@LeeZavitz 35-150 is heavier...huge...and no one complained as much after using it
@@strippedlistTrue. But the range makes up for it. It’s basically a telephoto lens which is usually big so I don’t think many people complain
‼️A nice camera. I would buy it if it hasn't the film simulation wheel. This is a toy for Instagram people...
p.s. the price for the X-T50 body in Switzerland is actual sFr. 1250.- (€ 1240.-) in Interdiscount shop.
Drivel !
Patrick Renna
Why couldn't it have been a rangefinder?
Because that’s not this model of camera. Gotta wait for the xpro4
So it's a "gimmicky toy camera" because of your hands.
No, it's still a plaything , irrespective of the size of my hands - but certainly, the controls do not cater to my hand size; I mention that as an aside. It's an expensive toy, Mr. Burton.
@@andrewtongue7084
Ah so you can't afford it. Hence it is an, "expensive toy".
@@JackBurton-qp4hc right?! the world is gimmicky unless it fits me! Just ridiculous lmao

Indeed I don't understand this attitude that if a product isn't aimed at "me" then it must be somehow wrong. Bizarre!
How are you able to get such great autofocus? It seems like everyone else on TH-cam is complaining about Fuji's autofocus.
I’m tempted to go to Fuji from Sony but then I see all of the Fuji autofocus videos 😅
@@LeeZavitzapparently there’s been a firmware bug lately which led to eye autofocus showing correct focusing but missing in reality. It’s been fixed with the new update, but of course everyone lost their mind over it for like 3 weeks.. 😄
Learn to use a camera, before you start flip flopping gear.
They should have just dumped those resources into manufacturing the X100VI to get more units out. Just got an email saying my day 1 pre-order in black is not expected to ship until October. What the what?
that’s wild!
That’s nonsense !
No smoking never looks cool.
I have seen great pictures with people smoking. Some are classics. Michael Caine .
Added to the 70's trailer trash vibe that was the shoot theme.
Smoking was popular in the 70s. I was there.
!
Not for this Price i think ..
I bet Fuji is crying. You are not getting one.
Love the thumbs down twice!
Dont need to exist with that high price.
