  • The “Sunkist” was discovered stored in an auto shop near Reno, NV over 25 years. Currently the only known special paint Hugger/Monaco Orange 1970 LS6 SS454 Chevelle to ever surface from the Van Nuys, CA assembly plant. This Chevelle is also now the earliest known LS6 built at the Van Nuys plant as well.

Great video Patrick I'm happy you were able to purchase it . Your absolutely right the car is in awesome shape. Here's a true story I'm 12yrs old back in 1977 my friend and me ask his older brother to take us to the store so we're sitting in the back seat of either a 68, 69 or 70 SS 4spd Chevelle and the back seat area is filling up with smoke from him doing a burn out my friend and me are laughing our butts off I'll never forget it

Chevy called it Competition Orange but it was the same paint as the Camaro's Hugger Orange. Only available on the SS Chevelle, not the Malibu.

When I was in High School the lady down the street had a LS6 4 speed car, it had a 450 HP sticker on the air cleaner. One day walking home from school and right in front of me a car pulled out in front of her. The car was totaled. . .That was in 1975. . .In 1968 I got to tour the South Gate plant on a school field trip. They were making Pontiac Grand Prix

Alright brother! Nice score! Congratulations! So glad to see them getting fixed up,squared away and going to a loving home. My mom lives in Reno too, very cool acquisition! It's ironic in a way that so many you've shown out rotting away you couldn't buy and save, yet you end up with an indoor stored car not in danger of rotting into the ground, you know what I mean? Obviously we try to get the best of whatever, but you know, those poor babies that can be saved, but unfortunately some people that own them aren't right in the head and unless something happens soon, they'll be to far gone to ever see the road again. So glad you got a great piece! Thanks again, it's great to see a happy ending compared to the ones that won't be ever again. Wow!only 15k miles, awesome! I never understood why GM didn't put the 150 speedo in these SS's, Chrysler put the 150 in their R/T and other high perf cars, ford the same, even Chevy did it in their Z28s too,but not in these,i wonder why. I hope you do a follow up video on this after you have it finished, I tell you, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying this, but I'd definitely be interested in seeing a restoration series of this beauty getting restored back to her pristine condition. ▪☆☆☆▪

That's definitely a candidate for a concourse restoration.
One of the nicest you've found.
I'm glad you get to purchase some of them.
You maybe need to do a 2nd video on the owners and back story sometime. Would love to hear what you pay, but I know that's not the point.
Part of collecting anything is the story.😉
That's the first I've even seen turn signal sensors, a rare option on 70's Monte Carlo too.
