I continued to sing through my voice change and became a countertenor as did my brother. We now sing countertenor duets together. I enjoy listening to you sing. I hope my son follows in my footsteps.

Bach was aware, but he had to compromise. I have heard it of course with the heavy and short breathing, but no chance to make it differently. Breathing and other noises produced by musicians during their performance are quite often, and I already got used to consider it as normal. The audience of the concert should concentrate on the sounds that are prescribed or intended to be produced...
Aksel Rykkvin certainly true... he didn't make any exceptions for any musicians; vocalists included... I have found that the more I practice (and fail) to render Bach's music, the easier everyone else's music becomes... after 25 years of keyboard playing; (more than half my life spent attempting to play Bach), the keyboard works of Mozart and Beethoven and the rest become comfortable and easy; almost comically easy...

If not Bach must have written it for one special boy, because even in those days when they could practise singing soprano even until 15 or maybe 16 years of age it was rather unlikely to have such a talented boy. Congratulations to you Aksel! That is a magnificent performance. Bach would have been delighted to hear you singing.
It is right that your voice comes quite close to a woman's soprano voice in the upper pitch area, and especially in this cantata. Nevertheless, there is still some small difference in the voice (I can hear the difference), and it turns male totally in the lower pitches. In our boy choir, we had a similarly talented boy singing in a cristal clear metallic women's voice (Dennis Chmelinsky)! : Concerning Bach, he was the teacher of the Thomas church boys himself (in Leipzig). He will have identified various special boy voices, but such as yours (exactly the pitch you have) is seldom. There are also special voices for Bach's works, like in the Thomaner-Chor (Leipzig (Paul Bernewitz) and in the Knabenchor der Chorakademie Dortmund (Tizian Geyer) who have both an identical voice and expression; Now it comes to the ability to perform the right sound modulation in the right time and tempo. In this, you are quite good! The last -- which is difficult to explain -- is a divine connection (understanding and mastership) to the realm of music which you have!

Wow this little fella can handle such a broad repertoire.I am very impressed. Most British Cathedral choirboys would blanche at tackling this, it is virtuoso stuff.
Can’t think of any performances of this piece by a British chorister, if there is, please list it. I only know of two other boy trebles who have recorded it, Max Cencic and Clint van de Lindt from the Drakensberg Boys choir.

An amazing performance, Mr. Rykkvin! There is speculation that (Johann) Sebastian Bach composed "Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen" for either the legendary soprano Faustina (Bordoni) Hasse, or, soprano castrato Giovanni "Porporino" Bindi. I doubt either, given Bach was a brother of Jesus Christ gone before me. Lutherans didn't tolerate castrati from my understanding. Nevertheless, I await your next album! You're making use of the (mezzo-?)soprano voice God gave you to its fullest. Whatever path you decide to choose after puberty sets in, you and the classical music public will have lovely memorabilia to look back on. Appreciation for high male voices is unfortunately small, especially in my native United States. May the Lord bless you, sir!
