Brooks, you're an exceptional drummer. Your drumming skills are simply mind-blowing, and you make even the most challenging breakdowns look effortless. Your impact on the world of drumming and music, through your work with Avenged Sevenfold and other bands, is unforgettable. Thanks for your incredible contributions! 🙏🏼 Check out drum-less versions of all these songs (and 5000+ more) with the all NEW Drumeo 👉🏼 www.Drumeo.com/trial

Brooks is the best thing that could have happened to A7X after Jimmy's passing, I did not think it possible someone would be able to fill his shoes and take the band a step further, but here we are.
Plus he's so down-to-earth like the rest of the band, you just have to love him. As Matt said: "If you have a problem with Brooks, you are the problem." I love his respect towards Jimmy's work, as he showed in the Breakdown of Beast and the Harlot a while back, and my respect for him only continues to grow.

Brook seems very humble. The other drummers he mentions like Freese and Chamberlain are two of my favorites. I also followed Cobham after seeing him on a Zildjian VHS promotional tape, which I still have. That cassette also featured Dennis Chambers. As a young metal drummer growing up in the early 90's, that tape opened up a whole other world and appreciation of drummers beyond metal, which influenced my style. Years later I would take lessons from Dorothea Taylor (The Godmother of Drumming). Learning all those rudiments on top of my metal/punk background helped me get my foot in the door for many gigs.

I’ve been a big fan of Brooks since probably the very beginning of his professional career when he was in the band Bad4Good around 1992. I was 16 and Brooks was a year younger than me and I remember I was really jealous of the Drum kit he was using and the way he was playing, because he was so much better than I was. There was so much maturity in his playing, way more than I had at that time. He was definitely a big influence on me when I was a kid that’s for sure. It’s great to see that he’s still doing this after all these years. And why wouldn’t he? He’s a Wackerman! 😆

Like he's tall, lanky, wacky, more grown up version of Jimmy's hair, it's crazy the similarities between these two and weather the band will admit it or not, I guarantee it's a big reason he's still there is the feeling of similarity. If I see it, there's no way they don't. He's such a beast on the drums man. Hands down my favorite post jimmy drummer. He's My favorite drummer Alive right now. The Stage is an absolute masterpiece. I thought life is but a dream was awesome too. Brooks is such a humble, down to earth guy. He knows his skills, but he also knows where he got everything from and he points out his inspirations and educators and credits them with a bunch of the genius stuff he does on the kit. He’s such a perfect fit for A7X and I’m excited to see them keep putting out BANGERS. I also love how he understands the importance of keeping some drum parts EXACTLY the same and honoring those drummers that played them. That’s something, as much as I love Josh Freese, I feel like he hasn’t done as much in Foo Fighters. I think Freese is the perfect fit for Foo Fighters and I love his drumming, but as a huge Taylor fan, it is a little disappointing to see some inconsistencies in honoring the drum parts.

Brooks is one of the best drummers on the planet. He’s made AX7 better than they’ve ever been. I miss him in Bad Religion!

Him leaving Bad Religion was a big loss, he played a big part in the band finding their roots again. His drumming on "The Empire Strikes First" album is probably the most structured and detailed the band has had. Especially his cymbal details on that album is next level. Happy to see him crushing it with Avenged.

Him leaving Bad Religion was a big loss for them, their current drummer Jamie Miller is a pretty solid drummer tho, he does Brooks parts justice.

@@GregGallagher Yeah he's a solid drummer too. Saw them a few years ago with the new line up. He sounded great live.

Saw him play the first show with Infectious Grooves. He was just a kid but was shredding that punk/funk groove. Knew he'd be a big star.

Brooks is just an absolutely phenomenal drummer and an awesome human being ! His youtube channel is so under rated and it's a gold mine for us drummers !! He inspires me so much to push myself ! Thank you drumeo for this interview and thank you brooks for sharing your knowledge and skills with us !!

normally, it's hard to notice the drums in music unless you focus on them. The Stage (album) was the first album that i listened to where the drums are noticeable in every song and i instantly loved it.. the grooves are just so damn good. that's how i first learned about Brooks and been a fan ever since. anyways, thanks for the video. it's very insightful for someone that doesn't play the drums

Awesome video! Really hope you guys have Brooks back where he can showcase his chops on a full kit. The pads are really helpful for dissecting these parts, however they don't do his playing justice. Still a 10/10 video, thanks as always for the great content

Finally! Happy to see this. I know usually people gravitate towards lead singers and lead guitarists… but it’s so nice to learn about drummers too. You know? Every member is equally important.

Can you please please for the love of Christ, get Brooks in the studio for a “first time” episode 🙏🏻. This man is a mad scientist and that kit is his lab!!! That had to be the hands down the sweetest pad performance. It was brilliantly effortless and immaculate and I’m such a sucker for the double kick 😵‍💫🤤 This was my Christmas!! 🎄🎁 and I’m not even a drummer just a girl who always had such respect and admiration for this truly masterful form of artistry. Thank you Brooks for an amazing episode and Thank you to Brandon and everyone at Drumeo . -ꨄ.

Brooks is such a badass and awesome drummer! He both has great technique, finesse and groove/feel! Loved his work both with Bad Religion and A7X(Even though their latest album isn't really my cup of tea). Easily one of the best and most versatile drummers out there!
