I got my one mil from the older knifes way…..so many knifes sold 😂 I had it in my head I was a travelling knife seller till I got bored and set up 8 shops all selling knifes, iron or bronze only.
I made my fortune from linen shirts. Grow a full field of flax, turn it into 2:3 ratio of fabric and thread, then make shirts. If you have fast crafting turned off, use the time it takes to make thread to take a shower or grab some lunch.
Ironsmith all the way 👍🏼🤓 Build my town right next to a mine on a riverbank (south of the spawntown in oxbow). It's literally the perfect spot, although you should always head towards the Northwest to go on a hunt because in every other direction theres basically bears and doggos. 😅
Trousers with cuffs, it's a lifesaver and only costs 4 linen and 2 leather. Get yoru Flax early and sell them at very high prices, available directly as you unlock the sewing hut.
For early acces to coin: pottage = cabbage + meat (boar) and a good source for leather Available from kitchen on, cabbage can be produced twice per year, and as bonus: many farming skill points.
You don't even need the kitchen. Can make it at the cooking pot/fire place of your house, too. Useful early on when you don't have a villager hired for cooking duties yet.

I'm rather confident that crafting Arrows and Bolts is still the most value for money - and they're rather light too, making for easy transport! I recall that Bronze Arrows have a base sell price per arrow of 22, per arrow. That means you're generating 220 base coins per production of Bronze Arrows. Personally, I prefer Bolts, as they're just that tiny bit lighter. I also often turn them into their poisoned variants for even more profit. Just set my Herbalists to gather Nightshade at 100% during Summer, then craft it into poison, and then into poisoned Bolts. Here's to hoping that it doesn't get nerfed xD
personally i found in oxbow map at least torch the tier 2 torch 2 hide, 2 sticks is best HIDE money maker early game. think u get like 50% more money per hide i forget the math atm. and ofc ur jsut adding sticks... so def once u can make them its great to switch from simple bags to torchs. i have tier 3 barter 50 torches get me 1400 coin as i recall. 100 hide, sticks that some nice jingle lol that said, there so many dif things to do. and i really love ur vids. always so helpful. and i get updates will and or can always change things
I found valuable items and did some quests to get coin. Put almost everything into sapplings for several seasons. Within two years, have 250 trees that produce many fruits and hops. This, stored in a food chest, will feed your people indefinitely, but you can also sell most of it (thousands and thousands of fruit) and get good money. And it's all legit.
Careful hunter is pretty useless since the chance you actually get something is small. What I did was get your extraction up asap and put it in the skill that makes you mine really fast. Brinze sickles are a good way to earn money, only cost 1 bronze and the price is between 250 and 300 if you have the right skills to sell them. And bronze is easier to access to iron and wool or even the linnen.
You can usually get around 15 pike from the river near gostovia, early game that’s almost an extra 1k a season. Although you would get more if you save them until you get a fish hut. Edit: pro tip.. punch fish don’t use tools🤣

Just thought I would bring up mention of the Market stalls as they man good profits for you with the right villager. 6 in trades. This way you can just concentrate on getting everyone to gather/farm the materials to craft and sell. No need to boost your sales skills. i think the animation of the emote at the end of the video seems interesting as it could potentially be used for a play dead skill in a future update if the devs decide they want to add that feature for a chance to have the boars and wisents stop harrassing you if you played dead. Edit: And maybe even bears(like Leo DiCaprio in his movie lol)? But probably not wolves since they're carnivores, in case it wasn't obvious enough to someone.
Later in the game my biggest problem isn't that I don't have valuable stuff to sell, it's that I don't have enough merchants to sell it to. I do think a fishing hut is rather lucrative too
I like the bronze scissors for making wool the best item to sell, as it gets double the amount of items and has a lower price, getting the most money from the vendors
Regarding hunting bison, what weapon should you suggest making the attempt with? I ran into them early on and my pointy stick didn't really do much. A bow with stone arrows didn't make much of a dent either.
I usually try to get an iron crossbow ASAP, but if u try recurve bow with bronze arrows at max distance away, it should be easier. Headshots do more damage!

Hunting For newbies, you should hunt deer, moose, and boar because they are very easy to kill and get a high amount of meat and leather depending on what skill you have. whatever you do, do not hunt bears and wisents if you don't have a high-damage weapon like the iron crossbow and iron bolts plus some useful melee weapons like iron axes and iron pickaxes. B. Clothes For new and expert players, from my experience with making money, the most profitable ways to make are: 1. Fur boots and fur shoes, these 2 make a lot of money with the advantage that you can use fur and leather to make them. you can order your villagers to hunt for fur and leather for material plus order them to make fur boots and fur shoes. after that, you can either sell them by yourself or let your villagers do that for you in the market stall. with these 2, you will gain near near-infinite amount of money generated over time. 2. when you have unlocked the fold to produce wool threads and wool fabric, you can make felt vests and long fur hoods. like the above, these 2 also used fur and leather but with additional wool, so it can be tricky if you do not have enough wool to make them. Also like the above, these 2 generate a lot of money plus sell a huge amount of profit as long as the supplies are still there for your villagers to make and sell. C. Iron tools and weapons since the iron tools and weapons need a lot of money to unlock to make them, save as much as you can when you can unlock these I will list below: 1. Iron axes, this type of tool-weapon of iron is very useful for melee combat against bandits and animals, it is also useful for gathering logs. not to mention they are very durable and selling them with price very high. 2. iron pickaxes, like the iron axe, pickaxe also useful in both combat and gathering metals and stones. but the huge advantage is if you have both iron axes and iron pickaxes when you first play, you will be set for life since you can chop trees for logs with axes and mine iron to make pickaxes then focus make these 2 in the smithing which will make a whole big unlimited loop with your assigned villagers to make infinite money while they use the tools to work as well. 3. Iron hammer, like the pickaxe and the axe, you can use these to build houses or sell them at a reasonable price depending on your skill, also like the above, you can make an infinite loop like this: axe for logs - hammer to make tools to sell or use by the villagers and then pickaxes can be used for both selling or using by the villagers. 4. Iron scissors, this type of iron tool while sold at a low price compared to the axe and pickaxe, they are very easy to make since they only need 1 iron bar for each scissor to make. while they are easy to make, they are easy to make profitable too, although the price is not great when compared to other types of iron. these are my tips, if anyone has any questions let me know in the comment.

When I start a new game, I find it difficult to find a feasable alternative for hunting as a moneymaker at the start. I want to start the first spring with seeds in the ground and fertiliser and seeds are expensive. Hunting is the quickest, most reliable way of getting that done.

So now I have tons of products and I will cannot pay the tax at all. Any advice for me? Other question: How can I move my character to another house? Thx for any help.
Make Market Stalls! You can have villagers sell items in your stalls, and they will put the coin in your resource storage. Also, once you build a new house, before you place anyone inside, go up to the sign by the house door, and there should be a pop-up that says "assign player to house" Hope this helps!
Im not sure if the prices are different since im writing 7 months after this video got released. Bags have a profit factor of 1,78 now, so using the leather for simple bags is still better. since i play the game in german im not sure if the name is right, but the coif (Bundhaube) has with 5.5 the highest profit. It uses 2 linen thread and 2 linen weave, so no hunting items needed and you can use the pelt combined with leather for pelt shoes (4.0) and the remaining leather for simple bags (3.5). Since im still in early game i cant speak about the mid and late game items. im sure wool items will bring even more profit^^
@@SirJayWalker Oh i just realized that i added the wrong number in my sheet. I added the price for the schematic as the base price (so 50 instead of 180). They actually have an insane factor of 6.4 with only straw hats being higher in the first tier 😅 good that you remind me to double check ^^
I'm glad I'm not the only one with the passion for flatbread lol. had no idea I was on the right track with that choice! For crops, it's what to leave, not what to grow. Leave Wheat and Pears, grow basically everything else. Maybe skip beetroot, maybe not. "He who soweth bountifully shall reap bountifully. He who soweth sparingly shall reap sparingly." You need Rye and Oat for Animal Feed. Skipping wheat, focus on those, go big on animals? I'm surprised by the distinct lack of manure from the farm animals tho

They do not at the moment. My money-making videos from last year are up to date with the Xbox build, but all of the videos here since December are from the co-op update.
Not yet, they will come out with the Co-op/map update sometime this quarter. Steam users were given it early back in December (free beta testing maybe? lol)

With the change in economy on Oxbow, now there's effectively two lists players need to be aware of: Valley: Stone Knives, Flax Seeds, Potage, Flat Bread (with Onion), Fur Boots, Bronze Tools and a progression that's been very successful for me. Oxbow: Roasted Meat, Simple Bags, Waterskins, Potage, Soup, Flat Straw Hats, Fishing Spears, Fur Boots, Bronze tools, and Wheat Bread are what's worked for me to date. Unfortunately, Flat Bread and Flat Bread with Onion got pushed down the Villager Demand list about 10 points each. So now when it comes to bread, Wheat seems to give the best ROI with least effort (once you get chickens up and going). But if you're got tons of Flour to use, it'll do. Finding vendors with cash is getting harder and harder each season. :) Good stuff! Thanks for sharing!
Genuinely pissed my friend off because i had my wife making flatbread during the day and then at night time id refuse to sleep because id be making flatbread all night. He was happy when he had an extra 1000$
The issue is........... NPCs don't have a lot of coin for me to sell all my 20 knifes I make...... I need to go to 4 towns to sell them and then end up with just under 4000 coins... feels kind of bad. (I am speaking of bronze knifes)
bronze ingot take 2 ingot (1 copper and 1tin) if you take in account price/bar, iron shearing scissors are the best buck per ingot and no other misc material is required. AND if you consider weight a part of the equation(playing withoug unlimited weight), bronze axe weight 3.5kg vs 1kg per scissors( saving 28.5% weight). shearing scissors worth 170 coins 1 iron ingot = 170gold worth bronze axe worth 630 coins 2 copper ingot + 2 tin ingot = 4 ingot 1 ingot for a average 157.5 gold worth

I personally make Coifs. They use 2 Linen Fabric and 2 Linen thread and sells for only 40 less if you don't have the leather on hand

4 years later and the best way to make money in MD is still from feathers. Even with 10X settings. 12 hunters gathering feathers is unbeatable.

That would be an interesting idea. It would be cool for some of the emotes to have abilities or functions of some sort.

If you aim well with the bow and hit the head more than body you can do it with copper arrows and the 1st bow.

@@SirJayWalker Oh i just realized that i added the wrong number in my sheet. I added the price for the schematic as the base price (so 50 instead of 180). They actually have an insane factor of 6.4 with only straw hats being higher in the first tier 😅 good that you remind me to double check ^^

For crops, it's what to leave, not what to grow. Leave Wheat and Pears, grow basically everything else. Maybe skip beetroot, maybe not.

They do not at the moment. My money-making videos from last year are up to date with the Xbox build, but all of the videos here since December are from the co-op update.

Not yet, they will come out with the Co-op/map update sometime this quarter. Steam users were given it early back in December (free beta testing maybe? lol)

Another excellent video, Jay. With the change in economy on Oxbow, now there's effectively two lists players need to be aware of:
Valley: Stone Knives, Flax Seeds, Potage, Flat Bread (with Onion), Fur Boots, Bronze Tools and a progression that's been very successful for me.
Oxbow: Roasted Meat, Simple Bags, Waterskins, Potage, Soup, Flat Straw Hats, Fishing Spears, Fur Boots, Bronze tools, and Wheat Bread are what's worked for me to date.
Unfortunately, Flat Bread and Flat Bread with Onion got pushed down the Villager Demand list about 10 points each. So now when it comes to bread, Wheat seems to give the best ROI with least effort (once you get chickens up and going). But if you're got tons of Flour to use, it'll do. Finding vendors with cash is getting harder and harder each season. :)

The issue is........... NPCs don't have a lot of coin for me to sell all my 20 knifes I make...... I need to go to 4 towns to sell them and then end up with just under 4000 coins... feels kind of bad. (I am speaking of bronze knifes)
If ur making a lot of bronze knives, you could make a market stall and sell them there instead!
I sell so much that I clean all the villages out of their coins.
Eventually, I get tired of selling to each villager every season and just stack market stalls 😅

AND if you consider weight a part of the equation(playing withoug unlimited weight), bronze axe weight 3.5kg vs 1kg per scissors( saving 28.5% weight).

1 iron ingot = 170gold worth
bronze axe worth 630 coins
2 copper ingot + 2 tin ingot = 4 ingot
1 ingot for a average 157.5 gold worth
