    Love hearing about Maltby clubs. I would be interested to learn how these wear for you. I have read in other forums that the finish wears off pretty easy. That could be off-putting, unless they play so good that you can overlook the wear. Thanks for putting these videos together!

      Hello @fit2yougolf926 . Curious if you have had a chance to compare the KE4max to the STi2 yet? I am looking at some new clubs and going back and forth between the two. As someone that likes the STi2 I am interested to hear what your comparison is! I really love the looks of the Max, but performance is what really matters. By the way how is the finish holding up on that Max for you? Thank you for your time and putting out great videos on the products.

    Thanks for the review ! I saw early pictures of the Max and it reminded me of the MacGregor V-Foil that I once lusted after.
    Built them last summer. Nippon 1050 stiff. Prosoft inserts and a dowel rod in the tip. Soaks up mishit stingers nicely. Weighted to D 3.5 with 7 gram progression through the heads. (Each shaft is a dedicated length and weight, so it got very consistent..easily).
    Love 'em.
    Sadly, I like these so much that I may be done building irons for a long time.
    Thanks again.

    My swing isnt nearly what it used to be, in both form and swing speed. Looking for a very forgiving easy to hit set of clubs at a good value. Watched a lot of your reviews and others as well. Narrowed down to my 3 top picks, thoughts?

    I play them 4-GW, and they're a good fit for me. I wanted to make some slight adjustments to them as well, and we were able to adjust the lie angle a couple degrees, but no go on the lofts. But it's ok, just adjusted distances and ball flight accordingly. I am a senior golfer, retired now and living in the beautiful tropics of of Philippines, golf year round, 3-4 rounds a week. So I have enough experience to sort facts from overhyped & overpriced BS from the big name brands.

      Sounds like you are getting lots of opportunities to enjoy them! Yes they are difficult to bend to adjust the loft. But so are some models of OEMs. Many of the Pings are like that, too.

    I go so far back to the single port in blade irons and woods that had space for lead discs to be glued in and then an emblem was glued in to cover them. The KE4 had one at the heel and one at the toe, really unattractive even for the early 80’s. Lol

    Thanks for your videos. I’m kind of loyal to Maltby components as I attended their school and sold the brand in my shop for years until closing. I’ve been looking at a full set of these, the Maltby STI 2’s and the Dynacraft Prophet Muscle Blade Irons. I’ve seen your videos on these and STI 2’s and I’m leaning this way, but I still like the looks of the Dynacraft Prophet Blade Irons. Great videos. I don't have experience with that model, but I have played and reviewed other Dynacraft irons and wedges and tend to like them a lot. I prefer the Golfworks models typically. Some of that is from being there for several classes and learning about how much goes into their design and production.

    Has anyone compared the spin rate with the STi2....½ club difference in loft but it wouldn't be hard to interpret the difference. I built a prototype #6 to compare with my Sti gamer. The stronger lofts fit just right with my hybrids and wedges. First test - the Max is more forgiving and reduces fade tendency, but the flight looked flatter than expected, so I wonder about the spin rate.

    How does the KE4 Max compare to the KE4s irons? Does it replace the KE4s irons as the best ultra game improvment iron you've tested?

    • @fit2yougolf926
      @fit2yougolf926  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are different animals. The KE4s still wins on versatility, and has more adjustability with the second weight. The thinner sole also fits a wider range of golfers. The Max comes close in my view. It's very solid.
      I think in hindsight the Sti OS became my favorite in this category. I was sorry to see them discontinued. The Sti2 is currently neck and neck with the KE4s. A lot of golfers prefer their slightly oversized shape and slightly wider sole.

    • @tywebb-eg9vv
      @tywebb-eg9vv ปีที่แล้ว

      That's great info! Thank you for doing these reviews. I was thinking of buying the KE4 Max pak but I'm hesitant about the shorter irons. Now I'm thinking of doing a blended set with the KE4 Max in the long irons and TS3 in the short irons. TS3 has an MPF of 849 and a VCOG of .691 so I think I might be able to play those in the shorter irons as a 14 handicap. The KE4 Max also sounds like a possible hybrid replacement especially if it's easier to hit than the KE4s 4 iron which is the easiest 4 iron I've hit so far. Glad your hip is doing better. 200 yards off the tee with a 4 iron is impressive!

      I think the OS had broader appeal. I really wish that model was still available. I think the Max is a great performer, especially for those who could use the wider sole and larger hitting area. So if you have the OS irons and don't find yourself taking deep divots or hitting way toward the heel or toe, I'd say stick with them.
