If you look at it from a worldwide perspective, the EU now has way more influence and is stronger as a whole than the individual countries would have been today should there not have been a union. I was only 6 years old when my mother told me of his death. I remember being so shocked by the gruesome details of his murder that I almost didn't believe her. Some 30-40 years later I watched a BBC documentary about Lumumba - and, lo and behold, everything she told me was true! Interestingly, there was a total eclipse of the sun at the time of his death, and my mum said to me: "See, Lumumba was a great man - even the sun mourns his death!" From that moment on he became my hero! 🌿🌷Rest in peace, Patrice.🌷🌿 (I am from former Yugoslavia)

Sir, are you by any chance, related to Patrice Lumumba, the first prime minister of Democratic Republic of the Congo ?
I was only 6 years old when my mother told me of his death. I remember being so shocked by the gruesome details of his murder that I almost didn't believe her. Some 30-40 years later I watched a BBC documentary about Lumumba - and, lo and behold, everything she told me was true!
Interestingly, there was a total eclipse of the sun at the time of his death, and my mum said to me: "See, Lumumba was a great man - even the sun mourns his death!"
From that moment on he became my hero!

I am a white American and much of what Lumumba says applies to the masses in this country as well. Our native people are in reservations, small parcels of the land before white man conquered. But still, these folks are some of the most serene people i have met.
