Don't be sorry for having an Exia bias. Everyone is entitled to have a favorite mobile suit. TV Wing Zero is still my favorite Gundam.

Exia is one of my favorite Gundams. I like it more than its upgraded versions.
I agree I prefer it to the main 00 Gundam
It’s my favorite 00 suit. Simple yet effective. Plus even with newer mobile suits in the show, it still shows to be an efficient machine.
Theres just somthing about exia's design that i prefer over the other mobile suits

Bought this when I was on vacation to Tokyo. I'm also Exia fan, and plan to buy 00, Raiser, and Qant.

I’ve rewatched this video about 15 times since I ordered my RG Exia last month. Arrives tomorrow! :D It’ll be my second Gunpla after the HG AGE-2 Gundam I found in my closet that I bought about 7 years ago xD
You should have at least to have 5+ hg kits to build an RG, but, yeah, Its your own decision

I got the RG Exia yesterday and built it in about 7 hours. Haven't had an opportunity to put the decals on yet, but love the figure. And despite the limited leg movement, I don't have a problem with the pose-ability.
What do you mean "Limited leg movement"? it can do a 170

It took me almost 2 hours to build the right leg ;-;

My first RG, the Raiser, took 18 hours total. 10 hours to build, 2 hours to panel wash, 6 hours for the entire sticker sheet (I feel like waterslide decals would have been easier but definitely would have taken longer). The Raiser is one of the most heavily loaded RG kits though so there's also that :]
@@fredxu99 the OO raiser was also my first rg kit, took me 2 days, but it was worth it

the Exia and 00 Raiser are by far my favorite gundams (as well as Sersuna F. Seiei being my favorite gundam pilot) i love your review and im most likely going to order mine today to join my 00 raiser on the shelf :)
I bought myself this model before I even watched your video review and I was in love with this model kit. it came out beautifully I do have some issues with the head but I will get it fixed soon.
Just wanted to compliment your posing. The Exia is my favorite Gundam as well, so it is awesome to see it in so many AMAZING poses! This isn't limited to your Exia review, of course. You pose them all really well.
exia's my favorite too, don't feel bad. In fact my first gunpla model is actually going to be the Exia repair II, a high grade model, and i intend to get the real grade exia later this year.
Exia is actually not my personal favorite, but the way you posed it makes me want to buy it. Damn you ! LOL
Picked up this kit during a convention and man this is the most complex build that I've worked on yet. Aside from a few decals that I know I could work easily it is still incomplete in that regard. I was hesitant in getting the RG version of Exia but after building six other HG kits I decided to take the plunge.
Great review and clean build as always! I was curious if you put any topcoat on any of your kits? keep up your reviews, always looking forward to them!

When I was shopping for Gundams, I came across the Star build strike and the Wing gundam Fenice Rinascita and by the corner of my eye, I saw the Rg Exia and beside it was the Rg Wing gundam zero EW.My aunt told me to take the wing gundam as she liked the Angel wings and I've already built the HG Exia and the HG Avalenche Exia, so she thought that same model would be boring but I didnt know it came with CHROME blades!!! I really want to see my Exia holding those shiny weapons, I'll polish them litterally everyday
I just built my Real Grade Exia, and prior to this build the Dynames has been my favorite mobile suit. However this has made me truly appreciate the Exia's design. The only issue I have come across is the right shoulder plate popping off due to the plastic inserts, and a bit of my own rough behavior, and the right vent plate becoming loose during posing. All and all I thing it is one of the most sturdy builds i have put together.

My local store is re-stocking these and will pick it up for sure. Exia is my favorite gundam design so it will go into my glass shelf along with my figures to be safe from the dust. Also, Exia fan bias hooo!

Can you help me? I have a problem to choose between HG exia and RG exia. I like HG but I don't like the proportions, it seems like RG is much more anime accurate rather thwn HG exia.

i have master grade of exia, and suprised watching this... Exia's RG have same details and articulation as MG had, except the GN drive that can't be remove. will add this into my wishlist :3

Question: How do you compare this EXIA kit to the other grades? I got MG standing in my desk and HG bsck home but I've been meaning to complete the other grades. Yet MG and RG seem a little bit too similar to get them both.

Oh, thank god it's sturdy. RG Justice was falling apart on me while I was putting on pieces lol.
Attaching the arms to the body pissed me off so much. But it was so worth it in the end.

it'd be nice if they could make RG's for the other celestial being Gundams. I've always wanted them to make an MG Dynames but I could settle for an RG if they never do.

Don't be dude, Exia is an awesome mobile suit. Though I've been debating about getting this since I already have the Repair II, the Astrea Type F, and I'm planning on getting the Avalanche Exia. Though I'd love to get my hands on the Repair I.
But what about Trans-AM?

if this is biased, i am impressed, this was well done and fair.
I am really a big fan of exia I love the real grade kit you can turn it into an exit repair but you still have too buy the kit and remove some parts put the parts of the exia repair

Yesterday got this kit. Mine 1st RG gunla and damn I removed so many small fragmenta that I thought were just numbs and actually were needed in building (like on both arms does for tapes)

Lol, you can tell you poured extra time into this kit.. even the panel lining is so much neater than some of your HGBF kits. It's a really great job! Just wondering, Gundam Battles are all 1/144 (series name originally had 1/144 in the title)... pretty sure you'd clean up if you took a real grade to the battle field. :'3
Actually, I've probably put the least amount of time into this one. I just think the Exia's design lends itself well to panel lining and RGs pretty much offer the best color separation at this scale so I didn't have to try and employ my childish painting skills here. :D

I'm fascinated that you say the RG was easier to get looking good though, is this specific to RGs? Because I've personally only ever built one kit (technically 2 if you count the non-grade 1/60 non-grade Toys R Us Wing One), the Astray Blue Frame & I was too daunted to even consider panel lining that...
Yeah, anything RG and up doesn't really require much effort to get looking good. There's just more parts and overall detail put into the model kit. Of course, RGs do cost about a third more than HGs so I guess it isn't too surprising?
You can't have just ONE Exia.......they all look great!

I "took" a gundam card from hobby japan magazine year ago from shop, i don't know much about gundam, but i know it was this gundam with a backpack burst style look on space, he he, beautiful gundam...
Honestly, I think you being a fan of the Exia makes your review more credible because if this were a bad kit, you would have expressed that and pointed out more things that might be inaccurate to the anime or that are flaws in the design of the kit.

You should review more about gunpla's. The way you the summary about the whole gundam within 6 mins. or so is really amazing. Besides the Build Fighters and 00 Series, I'm looking forward more about the Mobile suit Gundam Series such as the RX-78-2 or Seed Destiny like Justice and Freedom Gundams. But I am also a Great fan of the 00 series. Lol. XD

Hey, great review! I love my RG Exia too. It's the definitive version of this mobile suit.
I'm wondering though, you said this is your first rock-solid RG kit, did you have trouble with the GP-01s and RX-178? Those kits were really solid. Nothing felt flimsy about them.
lukeiamyourdad The core fighter on both those kits really let me down. I'd say the Exia and the MK II are the sturdiest.
Remembering how much you loved the rg 00 line, are you planning on, or have you already pre-ordered the exia repair iii? I'm not asking for or expecting an review, I'm just wondering of your thoughts on it.

I have a lot of toys that I don't bother making reviews for. But sometimes I sneak them into other videos. RG Destiny is an example of this.

I'm a huge fan of Axia GN 001 so i know how you feel bro. The design is so realistic and agile. The weapon is pretty cool too except for that overly huge GN Sword (my opinion).
well damn you man. I'm going to get the gn arms soon and I was fully prepared to just paint the exia the kit came with and buy a standard one for the gn arms but now your review has made me change my mind and I'm going to delve into my first real grade to go with my gn arms. my wallet damns you.

What is HG and RG? I just bought my first gundam kit at my local cards and comic shop for $15.00. Its an HG 1/144 GN-001Gundam Exia. I am really excited because when I was much younger I remember my cousin having a ton of Gundam figures hanging in his room and they looked so dam cool. Anyways, I want to know what HG and RG is. my HG figure parts don't have as much detail as this RG figure.. is it a difference in detail? If so, I would rather buy RG's if they have more detail. Also, I thought my kit didn't come complete with all the stickers because the beam sword wasn't pink and the instructions showed there were supposed to be stickers where some parts were but I saw no sticker proportiionate to the part.. but after a couple TH-cam videos I found out that not all gundam figures come complete with colors and stickers, which was kind of disappointing coming from a first time builder looking to really collect these awesome looking figures. I bought my first kit with expectations of everything was ready and colored, all I needed to do was pop the parts out and put it together. But upon watching gundam reviews on TH-cam there are people who use sand sticks and paint their figures. I really like these figures, and I think I will continue to build and collect a couple more but I am a little disappointed my first kit the beam sword was not colored and not all parts came with the stickers showed on the instructions. I don't know if I'm going to buy sand sticks and paint and scalps for gundam kits, but hell I'm not going to lie and say that just building these figures make me feel good because it takes time and technique and patience to build a good result. I will be humbled to know I have finished building my gundam figure. I think of it like nurturing a child lol. You raise them up until they're big and see the results of your building. it's very rewarding

Would it be an issue if i opted out of using the powerlines under the shoulders? Ive heard that certain exia models' articulation are actually hindered by the plastic power lines that run from under the shoulder plates to the arm.
So why exactly do you not like this Astray? Color combos? Decals? Design?

How did you get your hip storage thing to work at all...I built two of this RG(first one's right arm to shoulder joint somehow snapped), but the hip storage on both of them would not move an inch...

I'd have to say that the RG 00 RAISER is far more stable, even with the 0 Raiser and binders connected.

Very awesome review, as per usual. Have you tried the RG gundam mk II, though? I cant say for sure, cuz I'm still waiting for my Exia to arrive, but I'd say it's at least as solid as this one. Only real issue are the backthrusters, that tend to fall off easily. So far (opinion on Exia pending ^^) mk II is my top RG in the line...
Yup and the Exia is slightly better overall compared to the MKII.

RG exia is the only RG gunpla that i bought without a second thought, but the leg limited forward range is really a big issue for this design. i wonder MG or HG has the same issue?

+Skypup i just finished my first rg model, the 00 raiser. the upgraded version of exia and i say it was a bit frustrating esp. with the small parts but it seems exia's a little simple compared to 00 raiser. if its ur first time to build a gunpla, i would personally recommend to test the hg lines first but if ur heart wanna go with rg then i would say get all the patience u can get. if get tired, rest. dont rush it:)
+Skypup I started off from master grade then to rg and then to hg. Personally it doesn't really matter if where you start if your interested in the hobby but the Exia has some pretty small parts and the foil stickers for the legs and arms will slowly rub off by sweat so just be careful. Also get some fine sand paper to just to sand off the nub marks.
+Tim Li no, starting at hg is better as it's 5in figure sized and mg are taller, olus they have much more small bits, plus an inner frame.
Its the persons choice on where to start the hobby usually starting at hg is the best way but you can start anywhere. Its just how interested you are in the process of building it and having the experience.
I'm not sure If I should buy a cheaper model for my first gunpla or Just go straight with this one... Either this one or Barbatos

Nice review, I enjoyed it. I know want so badly this kit. I was considering ignoring this model just because there was already a Mastergrade version of it, but the RG looks as good as the MG and is cheaper!

***** yea, but it is not so motivating for me. I already have MG Qan[t] and MG 00 Raiser with full leds and for me it is not so impressive having the leds on. I can survive with the leds always off, plus the led units tend to fail and require repairs, and keep buying batteries is not cheap (worst in the case of the 00 Raiser who has 5!!!)
