Excellent video; I am again impressed with Tauga, both their quality and their design ingenuousness.
I love leather holsters. I do not go inside the waistband. To me that is cruel and unusual punishment. Yes, I am a FUDD, but leather lasts. With a 1911, it just seems fitting to use a leather holster. I mostly carry a G19 these days but like it on my hip where I have worn all my guns. I do have a Tagua. It has taken a beating, still works 100%. I live on a ranch in South Texas. This is rough country and the plastic holsters? They do not last. Leather get scratched, hit, etc., no problem. Some Bick4 leather conditioner twice a year and it should last longer than I will. Leather requires conditioning and cleaning. Saddle soap, wipe, let it dry, then conditioner. Great for your work boots, holsters, scabbards for carbines and rifles, saddles, tack, ball gloves, luggage, even your wife's purse. Take care of your leather.

I have 4 Tagua holsters and they work great. They hold up well and they are very reasonably priced. I just ordered one for my Sig V-Tac and it should be here in a few days.

I have that last holster in your video and used it originally for my G19X before getting my Vedder. Then when I transitioned to carrying a 1911, I used it for my 1911 quite effectively for a while.

These are nice holsters and I was looking at a Tagua holster for my pistol with a red dot. Actually the one you had your Hellcat in that I was looking at. Thanks for the video and have a great day.
I've used nearly every conceivable type of holster and have a crate full of them now gathering dust. Here's my take. I don't like IWB holsters because I find them uncomfortable. I don't like belt clips because they either rub me or provide less stability than belt loop types. I tried using a soft holster that wrapped around the body and was secured by Velcro, but it lacked a thumb-break, so the pistol fell out when I stomped too hard. For discreet carry I prefer pocket holsters (often slow to use) and belt holsters with thumb-breaks (bulky and require a vest or jacket to hide them). For hunting or extended field carry I find flap holsters are the most comfortable and protective. If I'm carrying a long gun, a cross-draw holster works best because it does not interfere with the long gun. I own some cowboy rigs, but I see no practical use for them and some rigs are quite heavy. I've always found shoulder holsters uncomfortable over time, so I've stopped using them.

Good stuff. Those do seem to be very reasonably priced for quality leather. I’m set on holsters for my carry rotation though. I might have to buy another pistol to justify buying a new holster. 🤔

I am very interested in the holster that Officer Funk had a 1911 in. That ambidextrous model. He had something similar with his Steyer M9 (I've wanted a Steyer M9 ever since Skyfall, everybody is sleeping on those Steyers) on a previous video. That last holster reminds me a lot of a couple 1791 holsters I use for my own Hellcat. That same 1791 holster that's made to fit my Hellcat also fits my PX4 duty sized and sub-compact. Just a great holster design. Lots of options.

I have a 1791 holster that is very similar in size to the 4-1010, just doesn’t have all the OWB options. I wear my Kimber Stainless Pro II appendix style with the 1791.
All the holsters you showed looked like they would work very nicely.

I just received my tagua holster for my 5 inch 1911. I think it is absolutely nice and a great value for the money. I got the model with the clips for both iwb and owb. Why isnt this channel bigger!? Very informative.

I wish these companies would make the holster long enough. I really hate that the slide sticks out the bottom of the holster
If it ever gets loose, soak it in water, shove your gun in it & let it dry in the sun. Of course oil your gun good. That is what I do on the holsters I make & people are always commenting about how the retention is on them.

👍👍some very nice holsters. That last one you showed using your hellcat it also said it fit a s&w shield 9mm ez which is my carry gun. My question is can that hook on the outside be removed since I would never carry IWB. Thanks for the video .
I did not try to do that. It appears to fit pretty tightly in the leather. I suspect if you wanted to remove it badly enough, it would be possible.
Just checked "the Box" and found I have two of their holsters.
One is a sort of minimal belt slide for my 1911 and it has been just outstanding!!!!
The other is for several models of single stack guns and it has a, in my opinion, fatal flaw. The rear of the holster is cut so that blow or a hard press can and does come into contact with the magazine release button on some of the guns it is listed to fit. In other words, it is cut so that pressure applied to the rear of the holster can easily result in popping out your mag just enough to turn your gun into a single shot. This has caused me to not use that holster at all. Too bad, looks good and feels comfortable, but...
Thanks. I have not yet experienced that issue with any of the holsters they sent me. As accommodating as they seem to be, I suspect if you contact them via their website they will probably replace that holster for you.

What are your comments on thumb breaks? I like them, seem to make sense from a retention as well as safety standpoint.
Yes, they do. My duty holsters hav always had some sort of retention device. For an exposed handgun, I think it’s wise to have something like that. If someone attempts a “gun grab”, that’s one more thing to slow them down.
For a concealment holster that fits the pistol tightly enough to keep it from bouncing out, I don’t see the thumb break as being quit so much of a necessity. Still, it doesn’t hurt anything by being there as long as one practices to release it efficiently during presentation.
Hey Chief that inside the waistband model. The removable clips can they be put on backside of holster to use for outside waistband? It's nice to have the option if you need to grab and go in a hurry for whatever reason.
The same also goes for the last one with the single clip.
I don't see why they could not. That would allow quick removal of the holster if necessary.

In over 35 years carrying a handgun professionally, I have found that any holster that is make to be used it different ways was never a good option. ( Jack of all trades master of none). I’ve found that a dedicated holster that’s only made to wear in a single position conceals the handgun much better and in all reality it’s best to carry in the same position ( muscle memory) you don’t want to have to remember where you carry you gun in a SHTF situation.
Thank you. This is a topic I may have to address in a future video. While I agree that in a perfect world one would carry the same handgun in the same configuration all the time, but in reality with most of us wear different clothes for different occasions and changes in the weather. We also might select a particular handgun for one situation and a different one for a different situation. To my way of thinking, having options is always a good thing.
@@hrfunk I don’t see anything wrong with changing handguns to suit a situation. , but changing from one with a completely different mode of operation is asking for trouble just like changing the position you carry it in. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been training people and seen when they have changed weapons ( Glock to a weapon with a safety or God forbid a de cocker ) and seen them fumbled around to get the weapon up and running. No to mention changing the carry position seeing them go for a gun that not there. Muscle memory is very real

Would any of these holsters accomodate the Tisas 1911A1 ?
Yes. Virtually any holster that will accommodate a full-size 1911 will work with the Tisas.
Do you think that 4010 would work as a crossdraw for the Kimber Micro-9?
If you mean the 1010, I think it would probably work well.
I also don’t like that holsters angle the pistol grip forward very uncomfortable for fast draw I like mine straight or angled back

I've only had a couple of "Tagua" holsters, but wasn't happy with them.
I think "Galco" is good, but NOT as good as they seem to think "Price Wise".
"I" like "Triple K", "DeSantis", "Bianchi" and "Azula".(Azula has a great "Seated Cross Draw" holster)
What do you not like about Taugua holsters ? My local gunshop carries these. I've almost bought one of them a few times. But I'm concerned about the stitching. It honest looks loose on most of their holstes. I am a Galco fan myself. But they do think very highly of themselves. I try to catch them on sale before I buy them.
