Guys, I am writing right now a very long letter to the Ministry of Culture and ask them why they are sleeping on their hands. You two should have been named "Culture Ambassadors of Türkiye" by now ... Thanks a million for this nice video. Have been years since my last visit to Ayvalik. Time to plan a trip again ...
You never disappoint me, Mick amca. I’m the Thai woman who is obsessed with Turkiye. I subscribed your channel because you made great videos about Turkiye. My husband and I decided to do the roadtrip to Ayvalik after watching this video. Cok tesekkur ediriz. ❤
I'm in love with you guys, love your videos so much.. Greetings from Kathy from Serbia. Like Turkey so much, amazing country, coming there for my holiday every year for the last 20 years
My father side were immigrants from Skopje and Salonica. They have settled down around Edremit, Ayvalık and Dikili between 1917-1922. Ayvalık was a poor town in my childhood. Great to see tourism transformed it.
Thank you for showing in your videos that Turkish Cuisine is not only Kebap, meat and street food and we have many kinds of vegetable meals and seafood.
Best Trudie and Mick. I will definitely always watch your interesting and educational videos about Turkey. Thank you for all this useful information ! ! ! ! !
Hello Mick and Trudie. We have visited Ayvalik very many times during 25 years and we have seen this excellent video a number of times, but today was the first time we stumbled over antique trader Erroll’s Aladdin’s Cave. He was a funny and knowledgeable guy and his shop was quite fantastic. And, of course, he remembered you two very well. Thank you for the presentation.
Two days ago, I came back from spending a month exploring Istanbul, Türkiye. Honestly, the trip wouldn’t been possible if it wasn’t for all your videos and knowledge you have shared with us. Thank you and keep uploading amazing videos! 🤍 I’ll be going back next year to explore the Asian side too!
Lovely videos and so nice a tourist can pronounce the words right. Where did you learn Turkish? I am German but grew up in Turkey in the 60 ies. Most places were just beginning to have Hotels . Now living in Canada, I feel so homesick to Turkey, not Germany. Every Turkish song I hear makes me want to cry. And people are even lovelier when one speaks their language! Thank you! Great job! Am ready to return.
Another great view into Turkish living! Thanks! By the way, after 35 years of marriage, it finally dawned on me that I could cook Iskender at home!! We live away from Turkish eateries, and only get to them occasionally. I was so hungry for Iskender and then home cooking hit me. I am already well versed in the kitchen!! Many different parts of the meal made many pans to clean up. My resulting Iskender was lezzetli....right down to the toasted buttery cubes of flatbread! It was heaven x two nights. 😊❤😊
Oh, what a delightful video capturing the essence of Ayvalik! 🌟 I must say, Ayvalik truly is a hidden gem, and your video does a splendid job at showcasing its beauty and charm. 📝 From the moment you step foot in Ayvalik, you are enveloped in a world of wonder. The glistening turquoise waters, the quaint cobblestone streets, and the warm, welcoming smiles of the locals make you feel like you've found a piece of paradise. 🏖 The picturesque scenes of Ayvalik's islands, like Cunda, are nothing short of breathtaking. The crystal-clear sea, the olive groves, and the charming architecture make it a place you'll never want to leave. 🏝 But what truly sets Ayvalik apart is its rich history and culture. The old stone houses, the historic churches, and the vibrant bazaars all tell a story that goes back centuries. Exploring these treasures is like taking a journey through time. 🏰 And let's not forget the delectable food! Ayvalik is renowned for its fresh seafood and mouthwatering local dishes. Every meal is a culinary adventure, and the flavors are a symphony for the taste buds. 🍽 But it's not just the sights and flavors that make Ayvalik special. It's the people, the sense of community, and the warm hospitality that make you feel like you've found a second home. 💖 In Ayvalik, you can immerse yourself in the slow-paced, laid-back lifestyle, and it's a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The serene sunsets over the Aegean Sea are a testament to the tranquility and beauty that this hidden gem offers. 🌅 So, if you haven't already, I highly recommend adding Ayvalik to your travel bucket list. It's a place where you can relax, rejuvenate, and create beautiful memories. Ayvalik is more than a destination; it's an experience of a lifetime. 🌹🌿💙 Thank you for sharing this wonderful video, and I hope it inspires others to discover the magic of Ayvalik as well! 😊🎉👍 #Ayvalik #HiddenGem #TravelGoals 🌟
This was wonderful to watch. I have been going to Sarimsakli and Ayvalik now for 28 years, almost every year. We only had 3 days there in August so didn't realise they were developing the beach area. You should have went to Seytan Sofrasi. Wonderful views and a beautiful sunset, although very popular in the evening to watch the sunset. There is also some beautiful waterfalls not far away but a bit if a hike to them with a wonderful swimming hole. Thank you for showing us Ayvalik in your eyes. I am homesick for it now.
Hi Mr Mick , good to see you again. I am interested to this beautiful tour, Turkey is really beautiful and worth a visit. I enjoyed watching the video very much. Especially the ancient antiquities, they are wonderful, there are also beautiful cafes, museums and galleries. I hope to see more, if possible in those areas. Thank you both and please say hello to beautiful Rudy. Enjoy your time and good luck. Painter, Jamal. Taee.
love these hidden gems, we went to Kas and Kalkan after watching your vids on them and fell in love with the area so much we took our son their this year for a visit and our daughter and family went their for a few days while staying with us
Hi Mick and Trudie, warm greetings from cold and rainy London! I am a Turkish from Ayvalık, living in London for the most part of the year. I love Ayvalık, and I think Ayvalık is a uniqe place in Turkey in many ways. I think the best mezze in the world is of from Ayvalık including the other side of the Aegean Sea. The people are very friendly, the olive oil and olive is super quality, the sea is great though season is shorter. But, also is not overly Touristic as Bodrum and Marmaris have been. I hope it will remain that way. Thanks for doing this video.
This is my hometown, and I currently live in Canada. Thanks to Mick. This lovely video was helpful for me to show my Canadian friends where I am from. Keep it up! ❤
Ayvalık is not the best one on the west coast of Turkey; however, when it comes to affordability and small-town atmosphere, I agree that it is the best spot!@@dhiaoshaish
Ayvalik is a gem. In the summer of 2001 I spent several weeks on Cunda island attending an Ottoman Language Intensive Reading Course co-hosted by by Harvard and Koc Universities, and every day would get to go into Ayvalik, usually using one of the quick boats that went from Cunda. So many happy memories, and your video brought those back to me.
Absolute marvelous review! We never stopped in Ayvalik during our annualy holiday by car in Turkiye, but we stopped two times in Sarimsakli, as transit accommodation. They are under heavily renovation on the beach area, but the holiday atmosphere is absolutely lovely. I think this will become a holiday destination!
If the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism did 1 percent of what you do, we would host many more tourists in our country. Video images, locations and explanations 10 out of 10
Thank you for teaching our own ‘memleket’ to us. I now live in another country and miss Turkey so much, in fact all of my summers as a child I was in Ayvalık. This video just made me realise that I miss it even more. I had no idea that I did not see the most of it! Definitely I will go to these places next time!
