Inflation is far more harmful to individuals than a collapsing stock or property market because it directly affects people's cost of living, which they immediately feel. It is not surprising that the current market sentiment is extremely pessimistic. In today's economy, assistance is critical if we are to survive.

Hi guys, Thanks for the info, heading to çalis beach in a few weeks time for a family holiday so handy to know how much prices have gone up. We were in icmeler last summer but fancied trying somewhere different! TBH the prices are still pretty cheap for tourists, it’s the people who live there who are suffering! Great channel, have been re watching your vids that I watched last year!😂👍👏👏👏❤️
The silent sufferers of the ongoing problems are the stray cats and dogs. Cats have it easier of course, but their food has gotten so expensive, not to mention basic veterinary care (for example neutering or spaying). Where I used to donate monthly to animal sanctuaries, since the start of 2023, I haven't been able to donate anything because I'm in debt just feeding the cats and dogs in my neighbourhood. To anyone visiting, please please support animal charities and ngo's. Thank you!
Do you know how many people, including little kids, have been killed or disabled by dogs in Turkey in the past couple of years, either directly through attacks, rabies, or by being hit by a truck while trying to escape from a stray dog? Can you understand the suffering experienced by these individuals and their families? Do you know how many bird and other species have gone extinct due to stray cats? The ecosystem relies on balance and a chain reaction. If the balance is disrupted, the ecosystem will collapse. Those who support such actions should remember that they have a role in the deaths of children. Additionally, many of these organizations in Turkey are nothing but scammers.
@@Gokberk_Altug Do you know how many millions municipalities and the government receive (from for example the EU) for controlling stray animal numbers? Do you know the conditions of these ' animal shelters' and how these operations take place, if they take place ? Do you know what this government has done to stop dog factories, pet shops, this mentality that a puppy is very cute but when it grows up, it's a lot of work? Sure it is HUGE problem, but the solution lies within implementing the law that has been in place since 2004, in 19 years thousands of dogs (and cats) could've been sterilised, and the problem would've been much much less. And I also have to ask you, why aren't you so loud about the earthquake situation in this country? Why aren't you talking about thousands of people who have died in the past in the most horrific way, and millions now who are waiting to die because they have to live in 'çürük' buildings? Of course no kid, no human and no animal should die because of uncontrolled animal populations, but I find it baffling that the same people who complain about dogs do not complain about earthquake deaths, traffic deaths, cancer deaths while millions more die from that. I wish you safety and health.
@@CuteCatsofIstanbul What you are doing is called ad hominem. And this is the classic "so-called" animal lover defense. How do you know that I didn't speak out against political corruption and couldn't care about earthquake victims? I am one of those who stood for approximately 7 hours in a cold city like Eskisehir, donating blood on the first day of the earthquake. Wishing you a nice day!
@@Gokberk_Altug Only the second part of my argument was ad hominem because the numbers effected needs to be called out. Another ad hominem - EYT. If only a quarter of those people also called out for their human right to have earthquake safe homes, hospitals, schools, thousands of lives could've been saved. I acknowledge there is a big problem, and inform that the problem is two part - no control over breed dogs and no priority given to sterilising dogs. The solution is not killing these dogs, it is also not endless feeding of these animals. Great that you donated blood, but please please please, call out for your right to 'depreme dirençli yaşam alanları istiyoruz', Eskisehir is a high risk earthquake zone so please be prepared, educate yourself and loved ones, write to the municipality about schools/hospitals' safety. Stay safe.
You all have a ☝️ point, but kling dogs or cats should NEVER happen, there should be more government involvement in sterilization of these animals as well a incentive should be given to people in adopting theses strays by way of government reduced health veteran care, inoculation. Children always need supervision while outside. By caring for the animals it doesn't mean people don't CARE for the unfortunate which need help but this can be helped by all community being involved, not parts only.😊

Hi guys! Thank you for the great videos. You guys are so sweet and you sound like great people. Obviously I don’t have a property down there and I always stay at my sister’s rental village house at Yaniklar, which she barely affords each year For most of the Turkish people it’s almost impossible to own a house in Fethiye. Anyway I love your videos and enjoy watching them time to time and they give me so much fun and it feels like I go those places thru your lovely vldeos❤ Though it’s so sad we have little or limited opportunities to have a decent life anywhere near sea in our own country. I don’t think it will be possible from now on either considering this horrible inflation rates. Again, I really adore your videos and can’t wait to see another upcoming one!
I like to tell you why? as an economist graduated from UCSD San Diego ,what happened during the pandemic was the 90% of the western world closed for business including faming and essential production of Goods, Turkiye never closed their factories or farms, work went on and western demands for Farm Goods and essentials increased ,as the Foreign currency exchange was favoring west as west could just print or pay electronically Dollar or Euro , just keep spending ,importing buying everything they could from Turkiye. that increase of demand from west ,not only gobbled up Turkish products, but increased the local prices as farmers choose foreign buyers over Domestic buyers, Turkiye had to increase the inflation to make the products more expensive for the west, now after saying all that, how do you deal with low purchasing power of Turks due to inflation ? Erdogan increased base pay across the board 65%, included retirees pay and minimum wage, economic indicators says inflation is 75 to 80% now take away 65% pay raise that puts it 15 to 20% inflation in par with most of the countries , I do not know if this makes sense but the number is what it is. there were no bread lines even some tried by opposition to make Erdogan look bad, Most of the major cities opened their own Bakery stands to sell the bread cheap as you yourself know, going to Pazar in Turkiye you can pretty much buy lots of food for very reasonable prices, and I like to also point out to you that, 72% OF THE TURKS, THEY OWN The house they live in. there were no mortgages in the country 15 years ago. that gives them extra cash to spend . Despite the western attack on Turkish economy and money by the western countries to unseat Erdogan through weak economy, Turks managed thanks to Turkish citizens dollar deposits in Turkish bank over $275 billion, you know people buys dollar with lira and you can o0pen a dollar account in Turkish banks and some Gulf rich friends like Saudis, Kuwait, Oman, UAE and particularly Azerbaijan deposits lat 5 years is around 165 billion in Turkish banks, not counting under the mattress gold,,dollars and Euros Turkish workers brings from abroad, SO, government simply barrows against it instead of going to IMF ,or World Bank which l have read many times that ,IMF and World bank and FED Reserve USA are NOT very happy about according the rules in Errors and Omission =Balance sheet . but they could not do anything, but to starve Turkiye from newly injected cash all they could do and they did. but money fo0r Turkiye is plenty out there, China 2 years ago bought the tallest high-rise in Istanbul Levent for $635 million (Istanbul Park building ) and opened the major bank with $6 billion in deposits for the Turks to enjoy. remember Turkiye might sound like energy poor country but Azerbaijan is Turkiye . so is northern Iraq, free oil does flow if it needed to
@@007supertime hi. I read your comment very carefully. First of all I respect all explanations about pandemic period that we worked without fear. Because we had to. I lost my mom and my dad have converted to freaking, reckless and useless during the pandemic but you know the life still is going on. Turkiye didn't increase the inflation to make the products more expensive for the west. They just couldn't stop this madness. Bulgarians came to buy some stuff to the west region of Turkiye, Georgians come to east, Arabians and other nationalities bought estate, Germans bought summer house in the coastal areas. German' investments was very high that inspire the same idea to vote him again. All of this created a lack of supply once the demand is high. economic indicators says inflation is 75 to 80%? so we see the actual rates in the markets.🤦♂ Erdogan tried & declared exchange their dollars many times to Turkish citizens. But it was only another part of show. Long story.... Your last paragraph also sounds dreamy. I can't buy a simple flat, I can't buy a car, I can't buy phone. I can't go to vacation. Turkiye will love you . They will help you in everything you need just ask . Lose weight before you come because you can’t stop eating their delicious cuisine . Things are bit expensive dollar here 2 dollar there but still 5 to 7 times cheaper than for example Greece . But prices are up everywhere die to Covid and economic weakness of the west . Great channel, have been re watching your vids that I watched last year!😂👍👏👏👏❤️
Thank you for your beautiful and informative videos… ❤🇹🇷🙋🏻♂️
By caring for the animals it doesn't mean people don't CARE for the unfortunate which need help but this can be helped by all community being involved, not parts only.😊
Great video ❤ love turkey 🇹🇷 as country I was there for three weeks can wait to go back I enjoy as a holiday.
Thanks for the heads-up. I'm going to Turkey next month and it looks like prices aren't too far off what is being charged in the UK.
Lovely to see you again😊
Thanks for the valuable information ,, live long and prosper
Thank you. Great explanation of what's happening 👌🏻 and thanks also for the price updates on Fethiye and Calis 🙏🏻

Thanks for sharing your video, very interesting 👍 😊
Thank you for the update, it was really interesting.
Mick this is a very helpful and great video 🫶
I visited Turkey in 2018, meals for 5 persons in McDonald was around 100 T.L before a week ago we visited it again and it was more than 100 T.L for 1 person only for the same meal. Crazy inflation
New subscriber here…thanks for this vid…I’m going back to Fethiye next month after 2 years!
Teşekkürler tatlı insanlar.

3 years ago when we arrived a 3 bed apartment was 3500tl then the second year it went to 5000tl then last year shot up to min 10000tl currently a 2 bed and 3 bed will set you back 15000tl. a month. irrespective of this we have no plans to return to UK fingers crossed we love our new home and adopted people. Show them respect and they do same back.
Lovely comment
I've been watching your channel from when we arrived so learnt from the best.
Thanks for another great video... for us Turks things have been going downhill for some time, and until the last 2 rounds of elections we had a bit of hope that things could change. But that hope has vanished into thin air, and we're back to the reality...

Hi guys!
Thank you for the great videos. You guys are so sweet and you sound like great people. I am Turkish and live somewhere not near Fethiye unfortunately😊
I love Fethiye so much and visit every year. Obviously I don’t have a property down there and I always stay at my sister’s rental village house at Yaniklar, which she barely affords each year
For most of the Turkish people it’s almost impossible to own a house in Fethiye.
Anyway I love your videos and enjoy watching them time to time and they give me so much fun and it feels like I go those places thru your lovely vldeos❤
Though it’s so sad we have little or limited opportunities to have a decent life anywhere near sea in our own country. I don’t think it will be possible from now on either considering this horrible inflation rates.
Again, I really adore your videos and can’t wait to see another upcoming one!
I like to tell you why? as an economist graduated from UCSD San Diego ,what happened during the pandemic was the 90% of the western world closed for business including faming and essential production of Goods, Turkiye never closed their factories or farms, work went on
and western demands for Farm Goods and essentials increased ,as the Foreign currency exchange was favoring west as west could just print or pay electronically Dollar or Euro , just keep spending ,importing buying everything they could from Turkiye. that increase of demand from west ,not only gobbled up Turkish products, but increased the local prices as farmers choose foreign buyers over Domestic buyers, Turkiye had to increase the inflation to make the products more expensive for the west,
now after saying all that, how do you deal with low purchasing power of Turks due to inflation ? Erdogan increased base pay across the board 65%, included retirees pay and minimum wage, economic indicators says inflation is 75 to 80% now take away 65% pay raise that puts it 15 to 20% inflation in par with most of the countries ,
I do not know if this makes sense but the number is what it is.
there were no bread lines even some tried by opposition to make Erdogan look bad, Most of the major cities opened their own Bakery stands to sell the bread cheap as you yourself know, going to Pazar in Turkiye you can pretty much buy lots of food for very reasonable prices,
and I like to also point out to you that, 72% OF THE TURKS, THEY OWN The house they live in. there were no mortgages in the country 15 years ago. that gives them extra cash to spend .
Despite the western attack on Turkish economy and money by the western countries to unseat Erdogan through weak economy, Turks managed thanks to Turkish citizens dollar deposits in Turkish bank over $275 billion, you know people buys dollar with lira and you can o0pen a dollar account in Turkish banks
and some Gulf rich friends like Saudis, Kuwait, Oman, UAE and particularly Azerbaijan deposits lat 5 years is around 165 billion in Turkish banks, not counting under the mattress gold,,dollars and Euros Turkish workers brings from abroad, SO, government simply barrows against it instead of going to IMF ,or World Bank which l have read many times that ,IMF and World bank and FED Reserve USA are NOT very happy about according the rules in Errors and Omission =Balance sheet . but they could not do anything, but to starve Turkiye from newly injected cash all they could do and they did. but money fo0r Turkiye is plenty out there, China 2 years ago bought the tallest high-rise in Istanbul Levent for $635 million (Istanbul Park building ) and opened the major bank with $6 billion in deposits for the Turks to enjoy. remember Turkiye might sound like energy poor country but Azerbaijan is Turkiye . so is northern Iraq, free oil does flow if it needed to
@@007supertime hi.
All of this created a lack of supply once the demand is high.
economic indicators says inflation is 75 to 80%? so we see the actual rates in the markets.🤦♂
Erdogan tried & declared exchange their dollars many times to Turkish citizens. But it was only another part of show. Long story.... Your last paragraph also sounds dreamy. I can't buy a simple flat, I can't buy a car, I can't buy phone. I can't go to vacation. So who cares their investments. They are coming to take my last underpants
@@hasanozeroglu3081 what makes you think in other parts of the world we are having it easy?!
After 25 years in London im struggling to make ends meet.
I consider my self lucky that im renting and not on mortgage at this time as i would have lost my property with the current intres rate.
Prices have doubled on every single item but they still lie to us by telling that inflation is just 9%.
I've just come from Turkiye, been Anatalya, Kermer and Fethiye and I have to say, your video are amazing and very informative, I shared it with my friends and family. 😊 So massive thank you for showing how beautiful the 🇹🇷 is 👍
Please do more of these videos. Very informative
Hi guys,
I keep watching and re-watching your videos on çalis beach! 21 days and counting till we get there, staying at the Oykan hotel, looks great and can’t wait!👍😊🏴🇹🇷
Wow. Prices have jumped allot though. Not all of us are on the pound.
Super interesting and great video. Thank you.
God bless u beautiful people much love 🤗🤗❤️❤️ thank you for the vedio
WOW THE [RICES AS MUCH AS WHERE I LIVE IN THE USA.
THANK YOU GUYS , LOVE FROM US
I appreciate your honest and detailed coverage uncle Mick. As turks, all of us have a love and hate relationship recently.
Love you videos. We live in Dalyan beautiful village which like most places is now being redeveloped on outskirts and any green patch that is available in the town area. Since 2008 we have seen many changes some good some no so good. But we love it here and our Land lord and his family have given us a great welcome since moving from the UK. My Turkish is slow coming but I get by ok, maybe in a couple of years I’ll be able to have a conversation with people. But like you we have found a lot of the restaurants are cashing in on the tourist and some of the small market shops to. But we like to try the local food out let’s we can get a foot long donner . Meat or chicken for 100 TL.

We go Turkiye twice a year every year. We were in Marmaris/Icmeler last two weeks and the place was really quiet - all saying trade was very poor. Our resort was half empty and way down on usual May occupancy (Turban Marmaris). Most people staying one week not two.
Very true with whats been said in this video
In turkey at the moment...ive noticed a fair few russians around fethiye...guess they have moved away from all the troubles in Russia. I have been contemplating for a few years whether to invest in property around fethiye...however after looking at prices now....thats out of the window.
Also prices have slightly gone up in terms of going out to eat etc....then again where hasnt.
Still a lovely country which i will continue to visit
Beautiful film many thanks
Thanks a very rounded view of the current state of affairs , might have to rethink my retirement plans . Looking forward to finally visiting Fethiye next month after a decade of holidaying in Türkiye 🔆🔆
Turkiye is the best value for the money only things you need to stay away is the international hotels which have western prices . Rent a car drive the cost Turkish riviera, stay in Fethiye , Gocek , Marmaris , oludeniz. Kas . Maybe most touristy Bodrum but bodrum is expensive. Have a nice trip
Thank you Mick amca❤
Dear Mick and Trudie, Thank you for your support and solidarity with Türkiye and its people. Enjoy your summer!
Lovely to see you showing the local bars in and around calis where we go,,, x
You both are lovely. Thanks. I'm john coming to Turkey !!!.
Another well done video thanks
Excellent presentation from the streets of Fethiye.. Thank you,
we love this couple. thank you enjoy your time iyi günler
Interesting video!
As a young girl, I don't feel safe because of refugees. As a student, I can't get the things I want, everything is so expensive... I need a computer but the prices are going up every day. Life is very hard. I've never even been able to go on vacation in my life. Refugees and Turks living abroad to come and buy whatever they want but we can't buy what we want that's not fair. I deserve to live like a human being. They say" Your country is beautiful the economy is good, but they don't know what we're going through. Thanks for this insightful video
Where do you live ? Which town or city
@@mickandtrudie I live in Mersin.
It is definitely hard but I hope you don't think things are going great in other countries like often displayed on turk expats' youtube videos that are trying to attract subscribers etc. Global economy is in deep sh*t. Turks jut had it a bit harder. Oh also you only see the upper middle or the rich of the russians, ukrainians or others,l around u, not their ordinary locals or peasants.
@@TK-qv4xh I am ashamed of the disgusting actions of Turks living in other countries. So you're right. There are a lot of Russians and Ukrainians where I live, but they don't bother me. I am not afraid of them. I am afraid of Syrians and Afghans.
I feel the same about refugees and get gaslighted. I live in nyc and there’s refugees everywhere. I don’t feel comfortable going out at all. Very ridiculous. So expensive I can’t even afford a 1bd apartment on my own.
I love your channel. Just great to watch and such a nice couple.
Great little video. Thanks❤
Hey Mick Amca,
I started watching you two years ago. I bought my place down in Alanya in 2021. I'm so glad I did it then. Stay well.
