I think what made them so special was the play between the drummer (jazzy style) and the lead guitarist (classically trained monster). Both left to join Leon Bridges band. Corsicana lemonade was their last album with that lineup I believe
@@patrickwebert9670 yea for sure. Their transitions between songs were special. Go go go no stopping. It was awesome. The energy. “D” is there best all around album IMO. Loved what Austin brought. Losing josh on drums changed everything
Thanks for saying this! It’s a really encouraging sentiment to share. This band is my life’s work and it’s nice to know folks are clocking it in the present tense. Wish I hadn’t looked at this comment section tbh😳. Some stingers in here. Ouch.
Best performance, version, interpretation I have seen from them so far!!! It's over 9000! So much energy! We used to get stoned and watch all the recordings on the old basement website, and this was always a highlight.
I'm glad this is back on youtube. I was MESMERISED when I first heard it, then it was taken down. I love coming back to this session. All you really have to do is so different and so much better here!
I saw these guys at the XPN music festival in 2017 I believe. After they were done playing, my dad took me "backstage" with him so we could be the band. Me being 10, I had no clue who White Denim was, so when I met James, I completely blew it off. Thinking back to that, I regret having done that.
Went to school at Stephen F. Austin University in the middle of nowhere east Texas with James. We were both English majors. Watched him damn near get in fights at open mic nights. He brings the fire every time. A real fuckin man!!!!!!!!
Yes - this is Migration Wind - the final song is not "Heart from All of Us" (which is the actual title of the song that is not played during this set).
White denim é uma das minhas bandas favoritas, acho incrível como o Petralli é animado, ele cantando ao vivo parece uma bomba Sem contar na voz... que foz O cara é um baita músico
@@evolutionmontages4574 even then, I would imagine in a studio like this there could be better provisions. It doesn't actually matter because it's about style and sound. But there are a lot of other mics to use for live band vox. A 57 just really drives it home that they want it plain, even skipping the built in pop of a 58.
Without a question, THE best live band I've ever seen. If you saw them between 2007-2012, you were truly witnessing something special. Miss it

They are STILL one of the best live bands today. All the iterations they've had since 2012 have been magical. Ever evolving, always rocking.

@@jamespetralli2831 James. Your music changed my life and who I am. White Denim will forever be my favorite band. Thank you
let's give it up for white denim... holy moly... what a bunch of freakishly good musicians

"...they make us look like novices." lol, just KNEW someone had to come in with that.
White Denim are amazing live. I saw them 2 years ago and they ripped place up. James’s guitar playing is astounding.
Life affirming. This is the best thing on TH-cam by a mile.
This band should be huge. I love these guys. Rock and F'n Roll!!!
Have loved this band for ever but this absolutely blew my head off.

From The Basement, what the fuck took you guys so long to post this!!!!?????
I now have a reason to live 🙏
I found a reason to live long ago......

"What else do we feel like doing?"

"Yeah that's a good one."
FINALLY! I have been waiting for this since 09'
I can't even begin to say how much I miss this lineup.
White Denim is 🐐🐐
The last song on the setlist is actually Migration Wind, not Heart From Us All
Still a banger of a performance
Formative listening for me. Fried my 17 years young brain at the time.

Goddamn… I’ve never seen the whole performance. Thanks for posting this! Means a lot.
The last tune is actually titled "Migration Wind" not "Heart From Us All" (which is another banger from the same "Fits/Exposion" era)

"can I sing into a 57"?
Nigel: y...y-yea... sure man...
Isnt the only difference between the 57 and 58 the pop filter grill, the microphones are exactly the same though.

I'm not that well versed in this genre, but I've been a fan of these guys for a few years now. They're mind blowing.

Jesus the amount of heat from just the 3 of these gents... nuclear level of energy 😊
Full sweat after 30 seconds 😅
awesome
Edgar Wright plays one mean guitar
THANK YOU
Ace! When was this recorded? I remember them having a second guitarist and sounding rather different.
In 2009, around the time when ‘Fits’ came out.
I saw several live recordings from this era but never that much quality. Best band ever!
Crazy tight
Has anyone found a live version of "New Coat" ? I'm desperate... :)
Fingerstyle rules
I'm back baby ✌️ Love from Morocco 🙏
Do these guys never age, or was this just recorded ten years ago?
Recorded in 2009, IINM. 👍
